Looks like Bregman is ready to test the FA market. Story more than likely will stay put. I doubt too many teams want to gamble on his health. He's set to make $23M over next two years. How much more can he get? By the time that contract is over, Arias should be ready. He just got promoted to AA. For less money, just go sign Schwarber. Future? Arias at short, Mayer at 3B. We still need a 2B man. I think we'll revisit the Joe Ryan trade when there's more time to negotiate.

Just because we pay Yoshida $18M, why play him? Just because we will pay Hicks $24M over next two years, why do we pitch him when he is struggling right now? Why don't we play to win. Cora overthought this game. A bullpen game requires every pitcher to pitch well. We found out today what many suspected. Maybe we're solid 7-9, but we can't string together 7 relievers.

Looking forward to Yoshida at DH. Cora sucks at this when it comes to Yoshida. 15-70, 3 doubles and 1 HR in August. Nice line for a DH. Where in the hell is analytics on him?

It appears Giolito will eclipse the 140 innings pitched marker. His option becomes $19M for 2026. It remains to be seen he'll turn FA thinking he can get a multi year deal. His fate maybe in the arm of Tolle.

The (relatively) easy schedule the Red Sox have the rest of the way — with six games against the Athletics, three against Tampa Bay and three against Arizona — looks like an advantage. But it won’t mean much if the Red Sox can’t do a better job than they’re doing this weekend against the Pirates. I just wished all the TV guys would quit talking about our schedule. Every game is a tough game.

Not sure if I consider this a gamble, essentially a 1 year deal for $13+M. Buehler signing at $20M was a gamble, signing based solely on his World Series performance. It's worth the 'gamble'.
