  1. You don't ever offend me.....bold away!
  2. It starts with Henry wanting payroll to be below $208M when we had a payroll for luxury tax purposes of $240M or so. Both Xander's and Sale's AAV will go up for 2020. If we extend Devers, our luxury tax payroll will also go up. Hell, I want both JD and Betts to be back and sign some more free agent pitchers. I doubt if I'll get my wish. $208M is NOT a rumor.
  3. I guess the key is to reload quickly enough to take advantage of having cost controlled players in Xander, Devers, Vaz, Chavis, Hernandez, Sale, Eovaldi, Price and E Rod. I agree with pitching depth. You need pitching depth at major league level and also in the minors. We don't have any in our minor league system. As I get older, I just want the Sox to have a legit shot at winning the World Series. It's not as easy as it looks. Just look at the Cubs. With money, Theo and Madden, they looked like a beginning of dynasty when they won the World Series a year EARLIER than some expected. Baseball is still just a game. Houston has done the best job in my opinion. They've added impact starting pitching to already talented and deep baseball team. Their window of opportunity is the longest of all contenders. LA to me owned NL but the team is just a very good vs AL teams. I used to HATE the Yankees but no longer. Sox winning four titles has spoiled me. I'll be watching to see how the reset goes.
  4. For the Sox, I would trade Betts for cost controlled arm and assuming JD leaves, reload in 2021.
  5. If I'm the Yankees, I'd sign JD in a heart beat with short right field porch. He'd hit 50 homers easy with the lineup around him.
  6. ERA is based on per nine innings pitched. A guy giving up 6 runs in 4 inning will have an ERA of 6 x 9/4 or 13.50 and not 5.0. Now I agree that starting pitcher with 5.0 ERA who pitches 6 innings has more value than a guy who pitches 4 innings per start.
  7. It's a joke that anyone thinks that Red Sox job is unattractive. I'd say THAT guy is a puss**.
  8. And Cora went along with it.....it's only his second year. But he made a mistake. He's a good coach. Starting pitching where we invested $90M+ just didn't get the job done.
  9. 2016 Boston, Baltimore (W), Toronto (W), NY, Tampa 2017 Boston, NY (W), Tampa, Toronto, Baltimore 2018 Boston, NY (W) Tampa, Toronto, Baltimore 2019 NY, Tampa (W), Boston, Toronto, Baltimore I rather be us than them.....over the last 4 years...apparently many of you would rather be in Yankees/Rays shoes. I wouldn't have traded placed in 2016.
  10. Sox prospect ranking moved up to 22nd. I'm sure everyone here will give THAT credit to the next GM. That's how it works here, isn't it Moon?
  11. Since you're being snippy....No I'm not f***ING kidding you. You don't thing acquiring Chris Sale was a good move? You're f***ING kidding me right? You think you can acquire a Chris Sale and HIS CHEAP CONTRACT with bunch of f***ing nobodies? I didn't realize Buttery is now a candidate for Cy Young. I'm pretty sure that this board was ecstatic with our outfield trio of Beni, JBJ and Betts. You probably want to trade JBJ for Mike Trout. DD came in to do the job asked. Sox came in dead f***ing last three of four years prior to his arrival. He won three straight Division titles and a World Series. Knowing stand up guys that play for Red Sox, I'm sure every single one of them including Sale, JD and Porcello are pointing fingers at DD for screwing up this season. Yeah, that's it. It's all DD's fault.
  12. No Chris Freakin Sale without giving up Kopech and Moncada. His contract has been team friendly to boot. Lets' see what he does first before we cry like a little baby. How do we know he's not worth his new contract?
  13. Exactly what young players traded away would have helped us this year or next year?
  14. I saw him pitch when I was a little boy living in Ft Knox...
  15. See what happens when we're not competitive? We're talking slow pitch softball.......ugh In our softball league, if you play in a 'lower league',you are allowed to hit 3 home runs, anything after that is an out....how's that for a crazy rule? (it's to prevent ringers from showing up)
  16. Say what you will, but we added Eovaldi to 2018 staff for current season. But it was DD's fault right? I remember everyone talked about how our staff would be one of the best in majors. Sometime it just doesn't work out. It doesn't mean it won't work out in 2020. We're still a playoff contender if JD returns and Betts remains.
  17. I'm just not sure if he'd be any worse than anyone else we may send out there as the fifth starter. I rather give young pitcher a chance. Why do only have bullpen pitchers in entire system? One wrong turn and they are all converted to bullpen? Clay B and Jon Lester are the last two homegrown starters over the last ten years? That's pretty pathetic. We can blame that on DD too. We can't touch Ben (Moon) and Theo (Kimmi). They were perfect.
  18. In all seriousness I would stretch Hernadez and give him an opportunity to start. Assuming everyone else is healthy, it maybe worth the risk. Sandoval's contract will take care of Sale and Xander's raises. Getting rid of JBJ will take care of Betts' arbitration raise. Do what many have suggested, acquire a defensive center fielder. Nunez, Pearce, Moreland and Thornburg's expiring contracts will reduce payroll by $20M. Is it possible to use this money to acquire a back end starter? Will Porcello be agreeable to taking a one year contract to re-establish himself? Chavis can fill in at 1B and Hernandez at 2B. Perhaps not ideal but you do have to look at the overall payroll and the allocation.
  19. How about keeping Dalbec to replace JD for 2021. Hell he can be a closer also. I'm pretty sure it's legal for DH to replace a pitcher.
  20. Why are you trading away Dalbec and complain about building the farm? I don't get the logic. Why not keep everyone? We could go Dalbec at 1B, Chavis at 1B or 2B or DH, Hernandez at 2B, JD primarily at DH and corner outfields on occasion, if we're desperate, move Beni to CF and play Travis in LF. The core group of Betts, Xander, JD, Devers, Vaz, and Chavis will score runs, no?
  21. Why do we hurt the farm for 3-5 years? We just need to add a $10M starting pitcher or come up with an internal option. I'd like to think we'll add another year of experience to our entire farm system. Who are we trading away?
  22. Finally a post I can get behind. Our offense is still very solid. E Rod has finally arrived as a starting pitcher. Why tear it down a year early? That makes no sense. It starts with proper preparation in Spring Training.
  23. Moncada went to White Sox for Chris Sale. Where does Poms fit in?
  24. f***ing yes..... That means we would be finished with rebuild for 2020 season. We play to win the World Series. Not to be the Atlanta Braves of few years back. Moon, whatever happened to Chris Freakin' Sale? Now you want to unwind the deal?
  25. Now that we got rid of our biggest problem, DD, we should win in 2020? We still line up Betts Devers JD Xander Beni Chavis Vaz Hernadez JBJ If healthy, E Rod, Sale, Price and Eovaldi should be above average. Our bullpen can only get better I would think.
