    No way in hell Bloom is going to send one of our top 30 prospects. By assuming half of Myers' contract, we are simply buying prospects.

    This is simply a salary dump for San Diego. Their return is Boston paying 1/2 of Myers actual salary. Boston doesn't give a damn about Myers. His contract is back loaded so his competitive balance payroll is much less than actual payout. Thus Sox may only get hit for $4-5M for luxury tax purpose. Meanwhile Sox will get a pitcher and maybe two more prospects. Bloom knows how to build the farm. And this is why JBJ is untradeable. Think about it. Bloom ain't willing to do what San Diego is doing. He ain't giving up prospects just so other team picks half of JBJ's tab. We're already under the cap. Unless some jackass picks up half of JBJ salary and expects no prospects in return, JBJ is here to stay.

    I'm grateful that Yankees did not bolster their pitching at trade deadline last year. They are definitely NOT repeating, no matter what happens this year. Nothing like pissing away a great opportunity.

    If true, $300M over 10 years with opt outs is a great contract. We gave it a shot. Rather than holding you know what at end of 2020, we got some potential talent. No one wants to pay 50% cash penalty along with loss of draft spots. Does it matter who we win with? By the way, Mookie went 5-23 with 1 homer, ops of .699 in the World Series. To Kimmi's point, it's a crap shoot once you get into playoffs. Give me lights out pitching.

    Farm exists at the pleasure of major league ball club. I still think everyone on this board dismisses easily the state of Red Sox when DD was hired. Three last place finishes in four years. Look how alarmed we were last year finishing third and playing above .500 despite depleted starting pitching. Henry apparently told him to do whatever it takes to get us out of funk. 4 winning seasons, 3 division championships (I believe first time time in Red Sox history) and a world championship. Our current roster is NOT completely devoid of talent. We also have some young talent coming up. This is a pessimistic bunch. I'm looking forward to Devers repeating his last season and watching younger players making contribution to this ball club. I'm happy that my team has one of highest budget in baseball.

    Moncada auditioned at 3B for a reason. We had Pedey under contract through 2021 season. Our baseball people further determined that Devers was better 3B. It took Kopech and Devers to get an ace with very reasonable cost. Let's not conflate Sale's new contract extension with the contract we inherited. It was a great trade. Just ask Freakin' Moon. Thus, Devers and Kopech is not part of 'decimating' the farm conversation. We got a great player for two prospects.

    Tell me again what traded players would start over the players that we acuired? Give it some thought....I would do the Sale trade 100 out of 100 times so spare me the Moncada sob story.

    Kimmi is simply guessing. There's no assurance that we would have won a world championship. But the fact is we won 3 Division titles on the heels of 2 last place finishes and won a world championship under everyone's punching bag DD. I'll take 2018 and move on to better future.

    Can we just cut JBJ? Cut him and resign him for 1 year $5M. Who would pay him more? Just asking.

    Sox fans just needs to get over it and move on. Sox supposedly made a legit offer, Mooke wants to test FA. He's gambling a bit. What if get's hurt? What if he has a down year? At least give him credit for believing in himself. I don't want Sox to give out anyone $400M contract. We got back 15 years of team control players (3). You want rebuild of our farm system? Well, we just got started.

    I am actually enjoying this. There has to be a limit to how much you pay a player. I've always hated Sox wasting money, and I'm talking about $8-10M. Think of all the bad contracts that's been given with absolutely no return in performance. That's pure gambling. That's no way to run a business. Bloom is disciplined. He will continue to make small moves to make the team better. He needed to get the debt off the backs of Sox organization as defined by CBA. Say I'm worth $100B and money meant absolutely nothing. What's fun in buying up best player at every position to win the World Series? That's not fun. I'm looking forward to development out of our younger players. I want Chavis to get better. I want to see Dalbec. We still have Xander, Martinez and Devers to anchor our offense. I expect healthier starting rotation. The reset was very important. Some big pieces had to move to accomplish that goal. Now we can move ahead with the task of building a winner.

    If he doesn't break camp with the big club, he's a potential 6 3/4 years guy for us. If he turns into a starter, it's a good trade.

    Not sure why all the whinning is about. We did what we had to to sign Betts as a free agent. If the sole goal is to sign Betts, we can now do it. Say $40M per year. After this year, we'll be close to $150M. That's plenty of room to sign Betts for $400M over 10 years. How do you build a team with one guy making $40M?
