What MLB needs in next CBA is Frugal Tax....Tax any club who has say a payroll of $100M or less. Tax rate can be 50% of delta between $100M and actual CBA Payroll. That will help the players.

Good Post Think die hard Yankee fans are doing back flips for getting to the AL Championships? Nope (I wouldn't be) How about them Cubs? They won it all a year early, they had the GM and Manager of the century. How did that turn out? Looks like their cliff is fast approaching.

Lets' take out Kopech and Moncada....unless you think Sox gets Chris Sale and his friendly contract for NOTHING. Wade Miley? A fifth starter at best that Sox fans couldn't wait to get rid of when he pitched here? I'll let Moon talk about Shaw, because he had much to say about Shaw in his last year with the Sox. How many would be on our 40 man roster? You know the team that finished 3rd in the Division.

Think Yankee fans are happy? LA fans? I wouldn't be...especially the Yankees....one premier pitcher would have increased their chances. Should have done more at the trade deadline.

Don't we have Xander to a long term contract? We have Devers. Our we just going to have bunch of chumps? How many more wasted contracts does he think we'll give out? A ten year deal is long time. Is the writer implying we'll suck for 10 years?

There's no shortage of good players....what do you with Devers after signing Betts to 10 year, $350M contract? Chris Sale will still be on the books. I rather Sox be nimble. For me, JD's contract is great. If he's not injured, he'll opt out after 2020. He would have been well worth it for 3 years and he earned his pay.

I will wait until investigation is over but.... Cheaters should be punished......millions in fines and make the team ineligible for playoffs in 2020. You can't do this. How can you feel good about winning the World Series knowing you cheated? Unreal.

It would be worst of luck if Price, Sale and Eovaldi ALL remain hurt for remainder of their contract years. At best, this is not a bad starting rotation, regardless of who #5 is.

We're $13M over right now....getting rid of JBJ and Leon gets us $15M.... Can we plug in Hernandez at 2B, Chavis at 1B, obtain a cheap, cheap defensive CF, use internal options to plug Porcello, roll the dice with bullpen, and contend for a playoff spot? Or in addition to JBJ and Leon, trade away Betts and get a starter and a reliever the better way to the playoff contention?

goal is to be competitive right at the luxury tax line....make a move at trade deadline if we have chance to win it all....make sure it's a short term deal. Along with that, keep the farm in tact, don't trade away Dalbec unless it's for someone comparable playing a different position. Do not trade him for an older player.

I agree....He always thinks outside of the box. Rather than moving heavy objects, read Davis Price and his $93M, Bloom is more likely to trade E Rod for a two young almost major league players. That's how he builds the farm and stays away from having several monstrous contracts. I'll duck because inside the box thinkers will tell me how in the hell do you trade away our only young pitcher? E Rod has only two years left folks. This is the best time to trade him. Now I'm beginning to think like the second wife that has to clean up the financial ruin that the first wife left the husband in. "Honey, here's your sandwich. Nope, you can't go out with your colleagues. Only on Fridays."
