    Kimmi is simply guessing. There's no assurance that we would have won a world championship. But the fact is we won 3 Division titles on the heels of 2 last place finishes and won a world championship under everyone's punching bag DD. I'll take 2018 and move on to better future.

    Sox fans just needs to get over it and move on. Sox supposedly made a legit offer, Mooke wants to test FA. He's gambling a bit. What if get's hurt? What if he has a down year? At least give him credit for believing in himself. I don't want Sox to give out anyone $400M contract. We got back 15 years of team control players (3). You want rebuild of our farm system? Well, we just got started.

    I am actually enjoying this. There has to be a limit to how much you pay a player. I've always hated Sox wasting money, and I'm talking about $8-10M. Think of all the bad contracts that's been given with absolutely no return in performance. That's pure gambling. That's no way to run a business. Bloom is disciplined. He will continue to make small moves to make the team better. He needed to get the debt off the backs of Sox organization as defined by CBA. Say I'm worth $100B and money meant absolutely nothing. What's fun in buying up best player at every position to win the World Series? That's not fun. I'm looking forward to development out of our younger players. I want Chavis to get better. I want to see Dalbec. We still have Xander, Martinez and Devers to anchor our offense. I expect healthier starting rotation. The reset was very important. Some big pieces had to move to accomplish that goal. Now we can move ahead with the task of building a winner.

    If he doesn't break camp with the big club, he's a potential 6 3/4 years guy for us. If he turns into a starter, it's a good trade.

    Not sure why all the whinning is about. We did what we had to to sign Betts as a free agent. If the sole goal is to sign Betts, we can now do it. Say $40M per year. After this year, we'll be close to $150M. That's plenty of room to sign Betts for $400M over 10 years. How do you build a team with one guy making $40M?

    While his MLB performance hasn’t been eye-popping, his arm is impressive and there’s plenty of room for growth. He’s not arbitration-eligible until 2023 and won’t hit free agency until 2026. It’s not impossible Graterol becomes a starter one day, either. In fact, he has been brought up through the Twins farm system largely as a starter. per NESN

    I'm sure we're add some payroll but say we're at $140M after 2020 before arbitration raises, SP Sale SP Eovaldi SP E Rod SP Perez (add $6.5M for picking up his option) SP Graterol (pick up from Twins) C Vaz 1B Dalbec/Moreland (add $2.5M for picking up his option) 2B Chavis 3B Devers SS Xander LF Beni CF RF Verdugo DH Bullpen, go with Kimmi's theroy of bunch of nobodies... We have plenty of cash to shore up this bunch....this was the adult thing to do, keeping Betts and giving him $400M is what your teenage kids would have done. Financial restraint.

    Looking ahead 2020 JBJ and his $11M comes off, unless he's traded before ST Perez and his $6.5M comes off, unless Sox picks up team option for 2021 at $6.5M JD will most definitely opt out unless he's hurt or he has horrendous year, $22M comes off if he opts and is not resigned. Brandon Workman will be FA, $3.5M Mitch Moreland, $2.5M unless Sox picks up his option for 2021 That's total of $45M coming off the books after 2020 Then after 2021 Dustin Pedroia $13.75M E Rod will be a FA, say he's up to $12M for 2021 That's another $25M We're in good shape to go after some impact FA. One of our focus should be on extending Devers after 2020 if he has another outstanding year.

    According to Cot's, we're now at $201M (under $208) BEFORE salary relief from Price trade. Take away another $15M and now we're at $186M. It's a great deal. We get possible future closer and an outfielder with 5 years of team control.

    And not to mention getting $28M relief less the cost of 4 war guy. Not light.

    I'll take $56M and go through his pain.....it's freaking baseball....we have young men getting their limbs blown up in wars.
