  1. Well, you're little smarter. than whinny ass fans here. We asked for anti-DD field general and complain when we get one. One with a pretty damn good track record getting considerable mileage out of bunch of no names.
  2. True.....I was speaking strictly from 'rebuild'. You would also trade JBJ and Betts in addition to Beni and E Rod. Betts is easy. Option 1) keep him, pay him $28M and get a 4th round pick Option 2) Trade him, get relieved of $28M, get something better than a 4th round pick
  3. If YOU think we have some dead weights on our roster, what makes you think other teams' GM's won't see the same thing? If you want to truly rebuild, then you trade someone like E Rod who is under team control for two more years but that won't fit into our rebuild plans. Now the teams can OVERPAY for someone like E Rod. Two years of team control is long time for a team that wants to win now. Beni would be another candidate. Guys already in arbitration process are the ones bringing back some talent. Not the old farts with heavy contracts.
  4. Moon, you're becoming a drag.....we have good offense, there's no reason to believe starters will outperform last year's stats, bullpen is better. Maybe you should cheer for the Rays this year.
  5. Alex Cora (Bench Coach). Cora was involved in developing both the banging scheme and utilizing the replay review room to decode and transmit signs. Cora participated in both schemes, and through his active participation, implicitly condoned the players’ conduct. I will withhold determining the appropriate level of discipline for Cora until after the DOI completes its investigation of the allegations that the Red Sox engaged in impermissible electronic sign stealing in 2018 while Cora was the manager. He needs to go. He's dirty.
  6. "This focus on [the] CBT resides with the media far more than it does within the Sox," said Henry. "I think every team probably wants to reset at least once every three years -- that's sort of been the history -- but just this week ... I reminded baseball ops that we are focused on competitiveness over the next five years over and above resetting to which they said, 'That's exactly how we've been approaching it.'" We can f***ing stop wasting another 25 pages on different trade scenario to reduce payroll that Henry now says is not needed. Move on boys.
  7. I'm good with our GM. You make good trades. That requires patience. I can't get upset with our new GM over that fact that apparently no one wants to take on our bloated salaried players.
  8. I won't be able to get THAT image out of my head today....DD and Henry having great sex.
  9. I'm not convinced we'll get sub-par seasons from Price, Sale and Eovaldi again. Pessimism abound as new year begins. I'll go to mat with what we got. We can't continue to buy our way out of trouble. I'm okay losing with Dalbec's of the world as opposed to say Sam Travis. Former has potential, latter has no upside any longer. Let's get some young talent out there. But that doesn't mean we clean house.
  10. Are you saying Betts is valued at $77M per annum? Valuation that has no relevance to market value becomes totally meaningless, no?
  11. Player W L ERA G GS SV IP SO WHIP Chris Sales 6 11 4.40 25 25 0 147.1 218 1.09 David Price 7 5 4.28 22 22 0 107.1 128 1.31 Nathan Eovaldi 2 1 5.99 23 12 0 67.2 70 1.58 No one here thinks we can improve on this?
  12. Reminder.... Luxury tax is determined at year end. That's ten months from now. Why the panic? We can get rid of Mookie and about $8M at trade deadline, no? Surely we can get a comparable 4th round draft pick in a trade for Mookie.
  13. What the hell Moon? So you would have not made the Chris Freakin' Sale trade? What are you saying?
  14. Yep.....that's why Henry brought in a fixer to right the ship. 3 Division titles, 1 World Series Championship followed by an injury plagued season to the projected top of the line starting pitchers resulting in a third place finish. Trashing of DD is bit over the top. Our farm system is not dead last. It's 21st or so and improving. So big f***ing deal that we have to rebuild. Welcome to real world wusses. There are thirty teams trying to bash you in. If we can't rebuild with $208M budget then something is wrong. Merry Christmas everyone.
  15. Yankees now have positioned themselves to dominate next three or four years. If it wasn't for Ellsbury, they could've have signed another starter. Scary thought. We're fighting for a wildcard spot.
  16. My subject was on bad contracts that exists on Sox books as of today. You made your point. There's no way I'd pay one individual $40M. We simply have to agree to disagree. Don't get upset Moon. We all want the same thing, another world series title.
  17. Bad contracts Chris Sale....this will be year 1 of his new contract with AAV value of around $25M. No one with certainty can tell me that it's a bad deal. Nathan Eovaldi.....a four year deal with chance to turn around over next three years. David Price....a signature 7 year deal...3 Division titles and a world series. Lets see what next three years will bring and then evaluate his contract in its entirety JD Martinez....I'm good with his deal. He's given us exactly what we needed year after Ortiz' departure. Any others?
  18. your value is based on future cash flow, simple as that.
  19. But you're willing to pay Betts upwards of $50M for one season, almost 25% of luxury tax limit.
  20. Yep....we're only $10M over right now. We can get rid of players in July to get under the cap if the team is going south. Luxury tax is not determined on opening day. Someone will bite on Betts then.
  21. 6) We will waste our time talking about Mookie Betts As they attempt to get under the Competitive Balance Tax threshold, the Red Sox are going to try like heck to unload some payroll obligations by moving David Price (three years, $96 million remaining) or Nathan Eovaldi (three years, $51 million) in the right deal, and, of the two, Eovaldi is more likely to move. It also sure feels like Jackie Bradley Jr., who will likely make eight figures in his last round of arbitration, could go. What will definitely happen at the Winter Meetings, though, is a lot more public Betts discussion than is necessary. His trade market is too limited by his projected arbitration salary and his proximity to free agency (next winter). The payroll goal is not so pressing that it should compel Boston to make a bad baseball trade. Per MLB
  22. I don't care if it's only for one year.... no one is paying $40-$50M for anyone. You'll getting too deep into analytics, trade simulators....get out of the forest.
  23. I don't see anyone eating $28M of Betts salary. See where we are and trade him in July. The monetary cost will be around $8M, a team contending could stomach that amount and give up some players.
  24. I just don't want him traded for a middle of pack reliever....he may turn out to be a 10 year player for us....unlikely but may..
  25. Unless we have cheaper, more productive alternative I don't see the need to trade Dalbec. We don't really know what we have in Dalbec, no? If JD opts out after 2020, Dalbec can always DH. We're in no position to trade our prospects. I thought we're rebuilding the farm.
