  1. David Justice
  2. I think it’s obvious (to me) he’s staying in the bullpen. His last two starts weren’t auditions; he was filling in…
  3. Some pitchers are absolutely vocal about knowing their role and even wanting an established routine. But I doubt they all do. I remember guys like Kent Tekulve and Mike Marshall who just wanted to be out there as often as possible regardless of the situation. But there are absolutely pitchers like Clayton Kershaw who thrive on the routine and knowing his place. No idea where Whitlock is. But I do get the idea of keeping his IP down around 100. He’s only had one season where he threw more, and that was back in A ball before TJ…
  4. I have no idea what their plan is, but if I’m right, he’d pitch a lot more IP than a normal closer…
  5. And that might be the plan. Houck can play again, so he'll probably bump Whitlock from the rotation...
  6. Story signed on March 20. I don’t think they chose him over Suzuki so much as settled for him after a lot of dust settled…
  7. I’d be surprised if Whitlock started all year. I would imagine there’s an IP limit on him, probably somewhere between 90 and 110 IP. Something to get him more stretched out and able to jump to the rotation in 2023 full time. But not so much he needs another TJ
  8. No need. I stand by my predictions. Always…
  9. But that’s where the money is…
  10. Beware. The Sox have a Secret Weapon. His name is Aaron Boone…
  11. Also cleared a place for Renfroe to play…
  12. That’s your solution for everything…
  13. We can switch to Eovaldi’s next contract. My thoughts - be afraid. Be very, very afraid…
  14. Just predicting with remarkable accuracy. I make no mention of any club…
  15. I’ve already answered the “how much” part for you…
  16. But will he get more? That’s probably his limit, though, considering he’ll be 30 and probably not have too much shortstop left in him…
  17. They can’t force him, but they can 1. Pay him 2. Dupe him
  18. But that’s not his biggest problem…
  19. I bet if Bloom slips his tattoo artist a couple Bennies, he could slip some vaccine into that ink…
  20. Of course many those same players are the ones who want to test free agency in spite of our loyalty…
  21. Maybe. But I look at it this way.. Since 2018, the top 3 shortstops using fWAR are 1. Semien 2. Bogaerts 3. Story. Semien is a little older. Semien got a 7 year deal with a $25mill AAV. Story got a 6 year deal with a $23mill AAV. So for Bogaerts, I’m expecting a 6 year deal in the $144-150 mill range…
  22. Maybe half of Devers, but no way Bogaerts is looking at $280mill at his age. In fact, the $140mill is probably not far off what Bogaerts gets…
  23. Or maybe just tell Tanner Houck to get vaccinated. It’s not like it’s a major procedure. The whole process take 90 seconds, 85 of which are spent filling out forms…
  24. It is completely unsupported. The Sox remain after all these years to still be among the top spending teams in MLB. And this is year three of Bloom. If Henry’s plan - as you and others have suggested - is to dial back spending on the Red Sox, when exactly is that going to start? Both Cot’s and Sportrac still have the Sox with the fifth highest payroll in MLB…
  25. Well it might be with one call up. Of course even keeping just one in the bullpen would be a significant improvement, especially if Robles can keep it up. And Josh Taylor is on a rehab assignment, and hopefully can get back to his old effective self soon enough…
