  1. I find that hard to believe. At some point, teams need to include their operating costs into their ticket prices, and player salaries are definitely part of their operating costs. Players’ salaries are probably not as significant of a part of ticket prices as many fans believe, but I have to think they get included in there somewhere…
  2. But when you’re the Commissioner of Major League Baseball, receiving criticism is part of the job…
  3. So Manfred lacks humility? Who’d have guessed?
  4. More like the $60 million question…
  5. While I doubt Bloom is done, one notable observation is 60 IP from Paxton. Coming off TJ, he isn’t likely to go more than 5IP per start, if even that much. I’d think getting even 30 IP from him is wishful thinking. But I also think Seabold and company are likely to combine for more than 50, especially if the tan makes no more moves…
  6. I could have kept going and added that Bloom handed him the empty cards and said “Here, put some of that $7million you’re not worth on these.”
  7. And he didn’t even bother to pre-load them…
  8. Epstein also brought in Kevin Millar, who was mere seconds away from departing for Japan to play for the Chunichi Dragons. He did his share of scrounging…
  9. Theo didn’t scour bargain basements and waiver wires? Have you talked to David Ortiz about this?
  10. Just because the Sox didn’t add umpteen millions in new contracts last off-seasons doesn’t mean they’re not big spenders. Sportscaster had them sixth in MLB, and that’s after three off-season of being somewhat frugal, relatively speaking. They didn’t get that high by not spending. And this off-season is far from over…
  11. Fair, unless you count Whitlock. I mean, drafting Marcelo Mayer didn’t take a huge amount of baseball acumen and savvy...
  12. Or you have dandruff…
  13. True. Both of them had a legitimate gripe…
  14. Judging trades in hindsight is differ than judging them when they are made. Did the Bradley/Renfroe trade make sense today? At a minimum, opinions are divided….
  15. The poor folk in Montreal did largely ignore the franchise for 35 years…
  16. I am not for them, but the tea leaves I’m reading do suggest one might be possible. Just because I predict something doesn’t mean I endorse it…
  17. Either sign Pham and platoon them in RF or platoon him with Christian Arroyo with Kike floating between CF and 2b. The pursuit of Suzuki - primarily an OF in Japan having played there for 888 of his 1042 career games - indicates the latter option might actually be in play…
  18. Yeah that doesn’t make him the smart move for any of them, especially since he’sa but of a wild card…
  19. He’s not a shortstop, and that’s really the only position the tYankees need…
  20. The Yankees do have a dire need for a RHH outfielder…
  21. I could see the Red Sox acquring a bad contract at some point, possibly someone like Elvis Andrus, who would be used to offset the cost of something else. But I prefer not Grichuk. I'd actually like Wil Myers over Grichuk, which is sort of like saying "I like being poisoned more than being stabbed."...
  22. Has comparing the stats of two minor leaguers ever actually worked for anything?
  23. The Sox did get Bradley to fill a need. If they wanted a bad defensive outfielder with significant power and no glove, they already had Renfroe...
  24. Grichuk isn’t exactly a great deal either. I’d actually prefer JBJ over One Trick Grichuk…
  25. Sean Murphy or not, I don’t think Oakland is going to deal Sodetstrom. More likely they deal Murphy when he’s arm eligible and use Sodetstrom then…
