  1. Stay on the field over who? Arroyo rarely starts
  2. I think calling up Duran and letting him start over JBJ is worth a shot…
  3. Does Yollmer Sanchez really have a higher ceiling?
  4. If Casas is in the immediate future, no point. While I do have faith Cano can outhit Dalbec, I think that bar is pretty low…
  5. Because that type of thing is the sole purpose of Internet forums?
  6. Hey he’s basically a freebie since the Mets will be paying for him once he clears waivers (which he absolutely will). He has very limited 1b experience and his .501 OPS does look more like problem than solution…
  7. So they chose the benefit of the team over their own personal choices? Is that supposed to be a good thing?
  8. And he should consider it, too...
  9. That players shouldn't get vaxxed when it relates to their ability to play in Toronto? That is part of Houck's baseball job - pitching in Toronto...
  10. I still think JBJ can and will be a net positive as a baseball player, but also we do have a Plan B in Duran who either needs a place to play or can be dealt. Right now, I don't get why they are not giving him another chance. Last year's struggles were still in only a little over 100 PA. That's not enough to tell anything either way...
  11. That’s not a baseball question…
  12. I really don’t care that he doesn’t get paid for skipping work…
  13. Before you get too medical - and this is headed that way - none of this changes the requirements of Houck’s job, which involves pitching in places that require he be vaccinated…
  14. The ban isn’t the issue. The refusal of players to prepare to do all aspects of the job for which they are paid is the issue..
  15. Curtis Pride
  16. The ghost runner does make it easier to get a blown save…
  17. It’s changed a few times…
  18. 8th inning - Whitlock, Barnes 9th inning - Diekman 10th inning - Robles, Brasier Brasier is also credited by B-R with a blown save in the 5th inning of a 5-2 loss to Tampa. I didn’t think a BS in the 5th was possible…
  19. No. Coming in in the 9th was never a prerequisite for getting a save. In fact, pitching the final 3 innings regardless of the score earns the relief pitcher a save…
  20. I do like the term “vulture win” for those games…
  21. It’s not good. But it’s actually not so uncommon. (And not true per Fangraphs) Fangraphs lists the Sox as having 5 saves and 5 blown saves. They are one of 4 teams with equal saves and blown saves. Minnesota (AL Central first place) and Seattle (AL West 2nd place) are two of the others…
  22. No hold awarded in that case. Pitchers don’t get holds for preserving ties. In that game, the pitcher is credited with the bizarrely named “blown win”. Noted as a BW on your baseball-reference site…
  23. Me too…
  24. They entered the ninth up 6-0 and left it leading 6-5. The White Sox ended that game with the bases loaded, too. Exciting finish but such a letdown at the end…
  25. But then the problem with vs blown saves is a pitcher can only get a save in the last innning, but can get a blown save any time after the 5th inning. Also a blown save isn’t necessarily a loss. In a 9 inning game, it’s possible for a team to get 4 blown saves and still win the game…
