I find that hard to believe. At some point, teams need to include their operating costs into their ticket prices, and player salaries are definitely part of their operating costs. Players’ salaries are probably not as significant of a part of ticket prices as many fans believe, but I have to think they get included in there somewhere…

While I doubt Bloom is done, one notable observation is 60 IP from Paxton. Coming off TJ, he isn’t likely to go more than 5IP per start, if even that much. I’d think getting even 30 IP from him is wishful thinking. But I also think Seabold and company are likely to combine for more than 50, especially if the tan makes no more moves…

Just because the Sox didn’t add umpteen millions in new contracts last off-seasons doesn’t mean they’re not big spenders. Sportscaster had them sixth in MLB, and that’s after three off-season of being somewhat frugal, relatively speaking. They didn’t get that high by not spending. And this off-season is far from over…
