  1. What is wrong with making a run in the playoffs?
  2. Walker is also an excellent candidate…
  3. Yes. From outside. Joey Gallo would be an upgrade but a third team and separate deal would have to happen. Maybe more like. Tommy Pham/Robbie Grossman type…
  4. Given their lack of OF depth, I’m not sure Myers is all that available…
  5. His pan may have already flashed…
  6. Predicting the future is not easy work. Ask any weatherman…
  7. If Kike goes on the 60 day, another option is adding an OF…
  8. And they all still can. Ort is still on the 40 man. As injuries pile up, Bazardo can get back on it and Kelly should be able to join him at some point…
  9. I hope not. He is into the cheaper years but his AAV is $19mill. I only included him because he is definitely available, even in a bad contract swap. Wil Myers would be the preferable alternative from SD. But I doubt they’d take Bradley for him right now as it would add money. A Diekman/Myers swap might be realistic (and I think is acceptable on BTV), but I don’t have any clue about whether or not SD would be interested…
  10. On 1b, the easiest upgrade Top Choice - Josh Bell. Free agent after 2022. Great hitter from the left side. Weaker from the right. But the biggest upgrade on the market and changes the lineup dramatically. Realistic Alternative - Hunter Dozier. Not as exciting as Bell but his contract (2 yrs $17.5 mill with incentives) probably makes him an easy target in KC Alternative That Scares Me - Frank Schwindel. He’s an upgrade over Cordero/Dalbec simply because he can field a ground ball and post a .700 OPS on occasion. But he is about as unexciting as it gets. Although he at least has a history of posting outlandish offensive numbers in his first go round with any team. Worst Choice - Eric Hosmer. If he had less than 3 full years after 2022 (worth $39mill), a Hosmer/Bradley trade would make sense for both teams. But that’s too many years of a very mediocre player…
  11. Unless the season is over anyway and they’re giving him one last chance…
  12. The same can be said about Brasier. But the Sox are not going to revamp their bullpen to the point where they have 8 pitchers better than Sawamura and Brasier. Especially with the injuries in the rotation that likely keep Crawford starting at least until Wacha returns. If the Sox add one pen arm to join Houck, Whitlock and Schreiber as The Reliables and have a bottom 4 of Sawamura, Brasier, Strahm and Davis (in whatever order you like, that’s probably about as good as it will get. Maybe they’ll add two arms like last year, but not likely both will fit in with that top 3. One will probably be some sort of fungible depth arm like Robles.
  13. And that’s part of the reason I hate the phrase “natural position.”…
  14. However the problem is the Yankees would also lose their best minimum wage prospects, too. Plus they have arb cases coming up for Torres, Montgomery, Holmes, and a few others.
  15. He’d have to be. Even the Yankees won’t be able to tie up nearly $100mill in 2 corner OFs and a DH…
  16. It’s easier to move a player off middle infield than into middle infield…
  17. On most high school teams, the shortstop is just the best player. I would bet more college and minor league players were high school shortstops than we realize…
  18. How many of the usual suspects can swing a trade for him and still afford to lock him up? And do so without losing any current superstars awaiting a payday?
  19. Trading him for who?
  20. Well, I think they have to sign first…
  21. According to BTV, that applies to the top 4 prospects of every team…
  22. LHRPs were more valuable before the 3 batter minimum rule…
  23. He has hit fewer batters than Houck…
  24. Offload another deal? Acquire additional prospect (like the Sox did with Ottavino)? Acquire a draft pick?
  25. And the relievers were relied upon for more innings …
