  1. I think the return of Romy is unquestioned…
  2. For an in-game replacement, Romy is fine at SS. But if you need someone to start 4 or 5 games, he’s not ideal.
  3. Unless someone is included in a trade, the Sox will be returning Crochet, Bello, Sandoval, Crawford, Early, Tolle, Dobbins, Harrison, Perales, and Fitts, plus any SP added to the 40 man roster to prevent Rule 5 draft selection. Thats 10 SP right there. I doubt adding 2 SPs is on the radar…
  4. While it is certainly Bogaerts’ call, the man advising him during contract negotiations was Scott Boras, who is known for giving advice to wait until all offers are on the table….
  5. At that point, all Boston is doing is opening a 40 man roster spot. Casas’ projected arb salary isn’t so prohibitive that the Sox cannot gamble holding on to him and using him in a 1b/DH role when he is finally healthy…
  6. Casas was really good back in 2023 before the injuries kicking in…
  7. Duran doesn’t have a Gold Glove. Did you mean Rafaela?
  8. I prefer to oppose John Heyman, not ally with him…
  9. I think you were limited to the sentence at hand and not free to add your own. Otherwise lots of them work. For example: “Bryce Harper is a carbon-based bipedal life form capable of exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.” Yes, that statement also applies to Devers. Although my understanding is Devers wanted Breslow to find someone else to exchange the gases…
  10. I will call one “long and large” which will probably be Bregman for 5 years. And they make trades that probably include pricey players (not named Greene and Harper)…
  11. Even his 2018 was unspectacular…
  12. There have been signs. Bregman getting a $40mill AAV for up to 3 years should headline the list. Extending Crochet would be the second. I doubt they go as crazy as they used to, however…
  13. Defensively Kike’s play was much bigger. Betts’ was fairly routine, especially with Alejandro Kirk “running”. Betts has never really excelled in postseasons for whatever reason. He gets you there and then someone else plays hero…
  14. Someone would trade for Casas? The other two have been thrown around since July. And I think Bello is a trade candidate. Just watch. Also - no Hunter Greene, but Brady Singer did make the list…
  15. No more than a salaried employee? He was the CBO, not the same as Frieda in accounting. Is ownership really involved at this level? I’ve seen thousands of posts over the years about this executive or that one “needing ownership approval first.” What is all that based on? Can someone point me to the memorandum that sets the approval levels?
  16. Have the Reds already put Hunter Greene on the trade block? (Hint: No.) Has some guy who covers the Reds written a clickbait article about the benefits of trading Greene? Yes. Will the Reds trade Greene? Most likely not.
  17. And who is “they”? Do you think Dombrowski was not part of that process?
  18. The problem was he opened it for others first…
  19. 1. The Yankees could. They do still have Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones. 2. The Tigers cannot be that stupid. Not only is Skubal propping open their window, but extending Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter needs to be their next priority. As for not spending their offer, they didn’t spend that money last year either…
  20. The Cubs used top prospect Matt Shaw at 3b. Doubtful they end that experiment already. The Phillies might if they miss out on Schwarber, but they have top prospect Aiden Miller ready to step in. (Reportedly they’re fed up with Bohm.) Cincy traded for the rather pricey K’Bryan Hayes at the deadline. Theyre out on Bregman. And Detroit has other issues, namely Skubal. Plus other than Colt Keith, they have not extended a single young star they have brought up. Nit Skubal. Not Riley Greene. Not Kerry Carpenter. Not Casey Mize. In fact, the only two players on their roster with guaranteed deals after 2026 are Keith and Javier Lopez. I think they focus on that crowd first. The Yankees might be interested. They have not extended one ready to step in. But they also have to replace Bellinger, Grisham, Weaver, etc. which might be a higher priority…
  21. We got him for Hunter Renfroe. And since that trade, Hamilton has been much better than Renfroe…
  22. Didn’t Minnesota already acquire Abel in the trade for Jhoan Duran?
  23. He’s probably the most likely target for Boston over any other free agent. I’m not even sure what Bregman’s market is outside of Boston…
  24. I’m not a fan of Suarez, but he also might not be the cheap alternative many think he is. We assume he will take a shorter deal for less money, but his these perceptions coupled with his recent production and ineligibility for a QO might make demand higher than it should be for an aging, declining hitter that can’t play defense…
