  1. They did get a prospect for Renfroe. Two, in fact. And Bradley is hardly the problem with this team….
  2. That’ll teach him to not transform mediocre starting pitching into star pitching while the front office spends the whole budget on offensive star power and fungible middle relievers…
  3. I guess he just can’t enjoy the Yankee season for some reason…
  4. It’s actually not .000. He doubled off a 95mph Frankie Montas fastball 3 days ago. I’m sure wherever looked it up, you misread it or just couldn’t understand it…
  5. AAA is a beer league?
  6. So no “major” additions, just players who contribute? I would disagree with saying his additions aren’t major. Sure there not all big sexy names making piles of cash for a ton of season (like Story, for example) but haven’t Pivetta, Whitlock, and Wacha pitched as well as pretty much everyone who did sign an L&L contract this past seasons
  7. I could see Jarren Duran for Josh Staumont…
  8. Both deals are lopsided against the Sox. BTV would have the Sox dealing $76mill surplus value to acquire $48mill. And Baltimore gettting $8mill surplus value while giving up $2.3mill. I do doubt Baltimore deals Mancini, as his story has made him a legend among their fans. With the Pirates deal, Bednar is a good target. Quintana much less so, especially since he’s fallen back to Earth after an insane start. Per BTV, Bednar alone would cost Bello and Downs plus a lottery ticket. That’s not an unreasonable price but it doesn’t mean the Sox would want to pay it. Throwing in Quintana doesn’t equate to throwing in Casas, however…
  9. With 0 IP this year and 2 years $55mill left, Sale might not be the most enticing trade chip…
  10. The extension with Bogaerts not only shouldn’t be knocked, it should be praised. That he signed that deal with only one year to go until free agency was brilliant. The lockout makes it look like less, but in no way do we get 3 additional years of Bogaerts at a relatively low AAV without it…
  11. Well he started one already with Whitlock…
  12. The Sox offered Mookie $300mill; he countered with $420mill. I don’t think the Sox wanted to go to much above a $30mill AAV…
  13. Houston tends to sign players to extensions in the first 2-3 years of service time. It looks good but in most cases, they’re only delaying free agency by 1-2 years. But I don’t recall Springer or Correa giving them any sort of discount…
  14. And same deal for Bradley - No Shift 2023!
  15. What’s wrong with counting on JBJ again? Do people still think this guy is a let down? How many people thought in early June, Bradley would have a higher OPS than Kike and Verdugo? Bradley right now is the Sox best outfielder…
  16. Yeah my typing is never gonna win any awards…
  17. I love the capitalization March. Freudian slip?
  18. You do realize Trevor Story is an above average defensive shortstop who also happens to be 100% likely to play that position on the Sox if they don’t re-sign Bogaerts…
  19. Verdugo shouldn’t be a big question mark. With his barrel rates etc that mvp keeps posting, he is clearly making good contact. And he’ll benefit next year from the banning of the shift…,
  20. So… much better to just bypass those productive years in the early 30s and go directly to age 38? Here’s the thing. I’m probably more opposed to long term deals than you, and certainly more opposed than most GMs. But even then, most would agree with you about not giving Judge 8-10 years. But it only takes one crazy GM to make the offer…
  21. But it gets to the dreaded 40, and at one of, if not the highest AAVs of all time…
  22. 1. Trade Barnes for an overpaid 1b. Even one who is struggling offensively can help by knowing when to leave the bag for an errant throw. Franchy is not there yet. Wil Myers fit the bill perfectly as a trade candidate, but he went on the IL today. 2. Franklin German is the best candidate to help the Sox. 3. While maybe not at 1b, Cordero definitely needs to stay in the lineup. 4. Dalbec needs to go to Worcester and justify his place on the 40 man roster. He looks more like Will Middlebrooks every day, although probably not enough to fool Jenny Dell...
  23. Ok, let’s say the Sox moved Duran back to 2b tonight. And it went seamlessly. He was a clear hypothetical natural who could just play the position, always knew where to be, made every possible play and maybe even one or two impossible ones. Just a clear cut natural 2b. Would that mean the Sox cut ties with Bogaerts?
  24. So you’re saying Duran is more likely to play 2b than Downs? Also, BA for minor leaguers can be misleading depending on what the team is doing with them. I have no idea if the Sox are using any approach with Downs, but sometimes I believe teams will want a player to work on hitting breaking stuff, so he will be told not to swing at fastballs. If something like this is going on with Downs, his numbers can be moot…
  25. And this will be San Diego’s problem…
