  1. He meant as an owner. What owner has been better for the Sox in the past 90 years?
  2. Ok. But who ultimately executes a training regimen? You don’t even say the training regimens were faulty here…
  3. Are you saying the medical staff is causing these injuries?
  4. Eating peas in itself is just a sign of poor decision-making. Plus he went to Vanderbilt. When was the last time the Sox had a Vanderbilt alum that worked out? David Price? Yeah. Good argument! Not to mention - by going to Vanderbilt, that means Swanson is a former Commodore. Know who else is a former Commodore? LIONEL RICHIE!! Do you really want a shortstop who thinks Sunday mornings are easy while he’s dancing on the ceiling? No Dansby Swanson!
  5. So what do you want in a medical staff? Someone who can steal Sale’s bike? I’ve seen people complain about the medical staff on forums for far too long, probably through several dozen trainers and doctors. But somehow each and every one was incompetent, probably because players still got hurt. Folks - players getting injured is not the fault of the medical staff. When you stub your toe at home or cut yourself shaving, do you blame your doctor then, too? Their athletes doing physical things and that can cause physical pain. It’s part of sports…
  6. No Swanson. Here’s the thing. His real name is James. As in James Dansby Swanson. He could have been Jimmy Swanson, Boy Hero. Or Jim Swanson. Or even JD Swanson. But he chose to go by Dansby. Of all the options, he chose to spent his life being referred to like he was the upper class foppish villain in a Dickens novel. That shows poor decision-making skills. And I don’t want a shortstop with poor decision-making skills
  7. And should the Sox sign Bogaerts? He is having a great season in the surface, minus the power numbers. But he’s also striking out more than ever, walking less than ever, hitting the ball hard less often than ever, hitting fewer barrels than ever. But he does have that BABIP thing. And he has stepped up the D, which is good…
  8. It’s because the pen failed to hold the lead. That’s what is memorable. Granted, it gets easier to hold bigger leads, but the Sox really do need to replace about 3-4 bullpen pitchers next season…
  9. True, but Barnes was not an inherited problem. Bloom did create the Barnes/Bradley financial issues for himself…
  10. Bard was better this year than any of the free agents mvp listed, except Montero maybe Robertson. Of course, he did omit Fulmer.
  11. He was 8 for 9 in save chances and really, the ninth inning issues for this team were largely in check while he was closing. However this really magnified how bad a lot of the 6-8th inning pitchers were. And especially the 10th inning, although some of that might be on Cora, who seemed to like Barnes in that role for far too long…
  12. Was Houck unreliable?
  13. Bullpen after the top 3 (Houck, Whitlock, and Schreiber). Agreed. I’m ok with what little we’ve seen from Kelly, too. Winckowski and/or Crawford, if not dealt, might settle into the bullpen, too. Barnes will probably be back, but not because he’s needed. Hopefully we’re seeing the final Sox games for Brasier, Ort, Danish, and Strahm. Please no more Brasier. I’ve been on that wagon since 2019…
  14. Why would the Rockies trade Bard? The Rockies are not a team that makes deals to dump salary or have fire sales to get prospects, even when they should…
  15. For someone who really tells everyone about the right he has to his opinion, you sure as Hell like to go out of your way to squelch anyone else’s. As for the closer, Houck (if healthy) was fine in that role. Schreiber has pitched almost exclusively in high leverage situations (which does mean even if he steps back he still can very likely pitch in regular middle relief roles) and Whitlock if healthy is just a flat out outstanding reliever. There’s no reason to believe any of them are worse options than aging and declining players like the list of free agent closers from earlier in this thread. The Sox need to as good bullpen arms. I’ve been hyping and overhyping Michael Fulmer and Rafael Montero (both of whom have closer experience) for weeks now (including Fulmer at the deadline).
  16. I don’t think he’s head case. He’s 34 years old with 13 seasons and 650 IP on his arm, along with who knows how many injuries to how many muscles, joints and tendons. He no longer averages 101 mph and peaks at 105. He’s still got some serious heat, but not the same heat he’s familiar with and he knows it. And it probably hurts somewhere every time he tries to dial it up and it takes longer to feel better each time. He’s just getting old for a pitcher. Happens to all of them at some point…
  17. That’s not what I said at all. Not even remotely. I said I liked that combo. I won’t speak for their health next season. And I think Houck, if healthy, is a likely trade candidate…
  18. So maybe they made a poor decision about what to market? These are people who decided at one point to live in South Dakota. (I’m kidding. Stop.)
  19. They’ve also combined for 106 IP, and for 2 starts since the trading deadline. (Bearing in mind that at the deadline, Sale was still expected back and even Paxton hasn’t been ruled out for the year.)
  20. I don’t get why people don’t like the Houck/Whitlock/Schreiber combo either. And I don’t see the Sox wasting time with Kimbrel or Jansen. Maybe Robertson. And this bullpen itself would have been a helluva lot better if they just kept it out of the rotation. Barnes bouncing back would be nice, but I think his All Star form from 2021 is probably gone forever for some reason…
  21. Jansen hasn’t been that much better than Kimbrel, and the Dodgers have pulled him from the closer role in the postseason before, too…
  22. But Kimbrel really isn’ta Closer any more…
  23. Diaz will likely stay with the Mets. His trumpet player might be available…
  24. At least we hope it was done on the fly, realizing with 2 weeks to go they’re downs SP all of the sudden. But I have no idea what the plan ever was for Whitlock or Houck…
