  1. I like Pablo Garcia, but if you are looking for Verlander, he might not be the guy...
  2. Luzardo has 4 years of control left. Lopez has two.
  3. Rafaela plus Wikkelman for Luzardo. Yeah or nay??
  4. You do seem to try a lot. And what makes you think winning and losing involves a plan for this offseason? What do you suppose a plan even looks like?
  5. You might be the exception, but the rest of us probably wouldn't recognize a plan if it was handed to us. And I'm ONLY excepting you because of the gorilla costume...
  6. Are you serious? “Gee a bunch of random people on a Red Sox forum from varying walks of life and all completely unaffiliated with the Red Sox can’t determine what their plan is. If that doesn’t prove they don’t have one, I don’t know what will.”
  7. 1. They absolutely have more knowledge of the Big Picture. They’re in The Room. Our primary sources are not even in The Room. 2. Chaim Bloom is like 40 years old and, unlike Epstein in 2003, doesn’t stand out from his peers due to his age. You just might have to change that to Man Wonder or Man Blunder…
  8. And it’s absolutely not limited to the Red Sox…
  9. Padres will spend all off-season trying to unload Fernando Tatis Jr…
  10. Belt’s long overdue. The Sox drafted him in 2006!
  11. Brandon Belt!!
  12. If he goes, it will be to the Mets…
  13. Ok I see what you were thinking. Yeah bad word choice on my part…
  14. They might be known. But - and especially Devers - these decisions are not solely up to the Red Sox…
  15. Did you misread or i mistype? I essentially said it wouldn’t take much more to keep both. The real question is, should the Sox sign Bogaerts?
  16. I know I was reaching. Hell I thought Koss was a reach…
  17. They currently make $31.2mill combined. They’re probably worth $50-55mill AAV. So it’s not a great expenditure to lock up both…
  18. Max Ferguson. Came over in the Hosmer deal. 22yo in A ball. If he succeeds in AA, maybe he can make the jump…
  19. If Casas starts the year in WOO, the Sox will just use the perennially unexciting Hosmer. He serves the purpose of 1) being a serviceable 1b while 2) not costing the team any money. But I do find it hard to believe the Sox will hold both through the Rule 5 draft and let them take up two valuable roster spots
  20. It’s hard to get any sort of read on whether or not the Sox plan to keep Bogaerts, or how badly they’ll try. I assumed Story was “just in case”, but apparently there has been some concerns around MLB that he simply can’t play SS anymore, and since every article I found was over a year old, this certainly factored into the decision to sign him. But even if Story isn’t the SS, and Bogaerts doesn’t come back, then what. Go all in on another free agent like Correa? Trade for a SS who needs a good home like Segura? Internal options like Downs, Ferguson or Koss? Find some arb-eligible player out pricing himself on his current team? (Newman?)
  21. Maybe not, but it also wouldn’t make me completely forget last year, either…
  22. If the Yankees let him go, he will be a Met. Chances of that are between 99% and 101%…
  23. Honestly it makes them way too weird of a fan if they do labor over those things…
  24. By “most fans” I am referring to people not on this forum. People here are talking baseball in mid-January. While that’s normal here, it’s not normal. As for Bogaerts, I have no idea what he wants. But he does least have two World Series rings to show for playing in Boston, so it’s not like it’s been a stranger to him. But he’s very likely to simply go where the money is. He didn’t hire Scott Boras to find a winning team. The rumors are already swirling about the Cubs (with the Jed Hoyer connection) and the Phillies being the most likely landing spots. So we now know it won’t be either of them…
  25. No, most fans don’t care. But most fans don’t really acknowledge the finances, know or care about payroll or luxury taxes, and think the Red Sox print money and therefore should never have any sort of spending limit. But that isn’t make any of it true. I’d like Bogaerts back, but I believe of they pay him too much money, it makes it difficult to pay for other players. And while I want him back, I acknowledge the risks…
