  1. If the Sox sign a SS, I’d just assume bring back X. And then avoid Nimmo or Laureano. I think Nimmo and his OBP are important, but I would greatly prefer Laureano in RF defensively, especially at Fenway..,
  2. While it would be nice, the Devers situation doesn’t have to be resolved; he’s under team control for 2023. Bogaerts is headed to free agency and it’s going to come down to his demands. There are reasons in his 2022 to extend him and reasons to let him walk…
  3. The Notin Moves 1. Sign Wacha 2. Trade for a Miami SP. Ceddane Rafaela and Wikelman Gonzalez for Jesus Luzardo works on BTV and feels reasonable. 3. Trade for Ramon Laureano. No idea what it would take. 4. Sign CF Brandon Nimmo. 5. Sign 2-3 RPs. Top choices are Michael Fulmer and Rafael Montero 6. Deal Hosmer. Likely for an arb-eligible RP from Milwaukee, Pitt or Oakland. 7. Get a DH. My top choice is Brandon Belt, but the extremely legitimate health concerns are a really good argument against. Play ball!
  4. I e been saying this for months plus a few days and several hours. And a bunch of minutes. I can’t forget about those minutes…
  5. I think chemistry might be nothing more than a phrase co-opted by sports journalists who one day woke up and realized they might struggle to write 800 word articles every day that say nothing more than “the team played bad.”
  6. I’ve been saying this for months. Of course I’ve been told that since it’s been 3 years, all those “Plan B” contracts have transferred responsibility and Bloom officially signed them now. It’s like some sort of Common Law thing, apparently…
  7. You really learn what the media wants you to learn. Is a clubhouse filled with grown men of varying backgrounds, cultures, languages and attitudes ever the harmonious place we think it is even when a team is winning?
  8. Because the overwhelming bulk of the Boston sportswriters community thinks complaining = intelligent commentary…
  9. Does any GM ever get high marks from the clubhouse? The guy who trades and releases players and argues against raises in arbitration hearings is likely to not be as popular as you think…
  10. I think the reaction to the deal of Vazquez was more about the message than the actual deal or Vazquez himself. Suddenly “Wai! We’re … sellers?”
  11. Huh? https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/nlcs-game-3-cardinals-giants-aj-pierzynski-booed-att-park-clubhouse-cancer/1vaegne816v131ayh5pk1t4nal https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2012/06/13/mens-journal-survey-a-j-pierzynski-is-baseballs-most-hated-player-philly-has-the-most-obnoxious-fans/ And there are others. Now, a lot of this is hype, and Pierzynski was certainly very approachable and affable with the Chicago media. But he was very, very far from being well-liked. Particularly by Giants’ teammates…
  12. There’s 16 games left in the season. Just how rifled should those feathers be?
  13. If Eovaldi and Hill had pitched better, maybe the Sox wouldn’t be using the final month of the season as an open audition for 2023 and would have kept Plawecki…
  14. He needs to be added to the 40 man in December of this year to avoid selection in the Rule 5 draft. At that end, he might be the best trade bait the Sox have to offer…
  15. History has shown he keeps spending at $240-250mill maximum. Then he makes the GM go below the limit. It’s a simple pattern. Don’t expect too much variation…
  16. No!! We like those guys!!
  17. But he still kept resetting anyway. I don’t think he minds spending. I think he just doesn’t like taxes…
  18. If that’s the case, then trading Vazquez had nothing to do with disrupting team chemistry, since the team kept Cora…
  19. Yes. Amuch smarter approach than to think he’s going to drop more than a quarter of a billion dollars just to appease some whiny old man on BDC…
  20. You need to account for inflation…
  21. Then why exactly is it important?
  22. But does chemistry create winning or winning create chemistry?
  23. It’s not about whether or not fans care. It’s a reality that Henry cares and we know this from his frequent resets. You don’t get any more correct by telling those who acknowledge this obvious fact that you prefer to ignore it…
  24. The same way Renfroe went from being a guy Tampa released rather than pay $3mill, to a player somehow drawing favorable comparisons to Dwight Evans?
  25. Then totes right; it’s not part of his job. He can’t be “one of the guys” if his job involves releasing other guys…
