Pham is a free agent and is probably gone. He has a team option but not one that should be exercised.
The Sox already have two outfielders in the gold for next season. I’m hoping they can fill out the OF with Brandon Nimmo.
Of course Bloom might go and trade Verdugo just like he did Renffoe and Benintendi before him…
Bello’s stuff isn’t likely to be the biggest factor in determining his place in the rotation; it’s his IP limit. Counting two minor league levels, he’d thrown about 150 IP this year, which is already 30 IP more than his previous career high. He’s not going to be penciled in for 180 IP next year…
Have you seen the rotation Tampa is taking to the postseason? Or that Baltimore has ridden to the best second half record in MLB? Or that St. Louis is using to take the NL Central?
Not true.
We do need SP, but if the pen limits the opposition to 5-6 innings per game for scoring, it can work out well.
Of course you need to be 7-8 pitchers deep in the pen and maybe more to pull that off…
That was back when every member of the Herald writing staff each decided they would write only negative stories about each of the Sox stars. I believe Steve Buckley was the one tasked with hating Clemens…
You lost all credibility when you said Eric Hosmer is the worst first baseman in baseball. And you said it on a forum filled with fans who spent half of 2022 watching Franchy Cordero, who will be the first player in history to have the position on his Topps card listed as “Attempted First Base”
Also you fail to acknowledge the other incredibly obvious way the prospects can help. And to acknowledge non-free ways to spend money, which you might think you’d recognize as a Yankee fan. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, feel free to ask Adam Ottavino…
He’d get claimed.
Miguel Andujar got claimed, and hen hasn’t been relevant in 4 years. If you’re capable of reaching MLB and make no money, there is always some level of interest…
Did it benefit the Sox to wait?
Austin Riley, coming of a 4.7fWAR in 2021 and in the midst of a 5.4 fWAR 2022, signed a 10 year extension for the exact same $21mill AAV that Devers (4,2 fWAR in 2021, 4.7 fWAR in 2022) turned down…
Too bad Miami passes.
I suspect a Luzardo for Rafaela/Gonzalez deal is reasonable but not something that makes their Fish Nipples go all a quiver. Or whatever Marlins do when excited…
