  1. I’m not a Paul Blackburn Fan. I’m a Paul Blackburn Predictor. When the weatherman predicts snow, it isn’t because he likes snow. That said, I see where you’re going, and still do not understand why Flexen wasn’t worth a waiver claim…
  2. No but the point in moving Verdugo does make sense in some ways. 1. Adam Duvall is reclaiming a lineup spot. 2. Turner isn’t the full time solution at 2b. 3. Verdugo has 1.3 years left until free agency 4. The Sox do have Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu for next year.
  3. Paul Blackburn. Do you not read my stuff?
  4. So you’re not sold on the GM, whose job does include predicting the future? But you’re completely sold on Cora, who Kike/SS situation showed he struggles to recall the recent past?
  5. No. The trickle back of injured pitchers is likely to start with to her useless Corey Kluber. And before anyone meaningful gets back, the Sox have to hope and pray that James Paxton doesn’t get soap suds in his eyes…
  6. Except Miami, who loses their #2 starter. Per BTV, the Sox would need to throw in either Casas or Bello to make this deal acceptable. On MLBTR, Miami is looking to as starting pitching, not subtract it. The Marlins do need OF help, but I’d be extremely surprised to see them pay this price. Duvall didn’t add much to this deal. Yorke and Rafaela are good pieces, but (again per BTV) are probably better for Braxton Garrett than the unobtainable Luzardo. I think the idea of moving Verdugo for SP (which will definitely take a 3 team deal) makes a lot of sense…
  7. … until Shohei Ohtani Jr…
  8. Yes and no? Do we think the Sox are done with injuries for the year?
  9. Well so Gary only one team has been offloading, and they’ve done with well in those deals, getting Dodgers #8, Astros #4 and Baseball America #89 while giving up no one better than Lucas Giolito. And they’re probably not done yet, and Song be until the deadline Bell rings…
  10. Kendall Graveman to Houston. There may be no worthwhile White Sox players left by August 1!!
  11. Per the White Sox, Cease and Luis Robert are untouchable…
  12. In their last sell off, Oakland did seem to prefer quantity over quality…
  13. I’m going with my crazier yet BTV-approved deadline predictions LHP Brandon Walter, INF Enmanuel Valdez, and 1b Blaze Jordan to Oakland for RHP Paul Blackburn. I’m sticking with Blackburn. No idea why. (Two 40 man players might not be on the Oakland Wish List, but both could also step in today.) RHP Ryan Fernandez to KC for 2b/SS/SB machine Nicky Lopez. He does fit the need for a “left-handed hitting middle infielder”. But if we’re being honest, his focus is more on the “left-handed” portion as opposed to the “hitting. I’m basing Fernandez on the acceptable target over dozens of other possibilities because KC did take Fernandez-clone Jacob Wallace this off-season, so I’m operating on the assumption it’s a profile they like. Hey I got nothing else here…
  14. In the right trade, they’re all available. Now finding the “right trade” for these 3 might not be so easy…
  15. It looks like the Sox are looking for 1 SP, 1 RP, and a LHH MI. Not so sure RP is a big need. The bullpen has given up like 5 ER in the last 40IP since Faria’s blowout in Chicago. And 3 of those came in one Justin Garza outing. I suppose depth is the main reason, but getting a SP would help the bullpen tremendously. I do wonder if Llovera checks the RP box. Probably not, and he might be released after a few IP. But at least there is still time to replace him…
  16. But at some point, you're just looking at correlation and calling it causation. It's like observing the birds fly away for the winter and return in the spring. And the conclusion is - the birds bring back spring weather!!
  17. Do you really need a doctor to justify the assignment? I’ve never heard of a player being denied a DL/IL stint…
  18. The main issue I have with CERA is - exactly how does a different catcher make the pitcher worse? And do so consistently? I’m not even sure how involved in pitch calling most catchers are, as the game plans are largely developed beforehand…
  19. Cubs actually might not be selling…
  20. I’m not sold on anything. I think they’re going to go for it, but also make a surprising move (or two?) with an eye on the future. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of Paxton, Duvall or Verdugo was dealt. I might not be happy, but I definitely won’t be surprised…
  21. Well, two top Angels’ prospects. Edgar Quero seems like a solid prospect, but Fangraphs gave Ky Bush the same FV as Brandon Walter, Chris Murphy and David Hamilton. He’s not a bad prospect; just a questionable one for the top 3-5 spots in the farm system where some systems rank him. (Fangraphs actually has him at 9.)
  22. He might not survive the trade deadline without a DFA…
  23. Cooked, served, eaten, digested, and expelled in fecal format…
  24. Troy O’Leary needs some Bad Glove Love, too
