  1. Actually I blame Betts, because he clearly wanted free agency and I don’t believe him when he did the offer was never made…
  2. “Yes !! Al ways take the up college pitcher available regardless of who the best position player is!” These were the exact words of former Toronto Blue Jays GM Gord Ash right after selecting Cal State LHP Ricky Romero instead of Troy Tulowitzki…
  3. Well he would have easily cut $25mill off that budget by seasons end simply by letting Mookie walk for a draft pick…
  4. Same question - what do you think Dombrowski does with Betts? Trades him or lets him walk? We all know signing was not an option. Because if it was, why didn’t Dombrowski do it?
  5. … by “last season” I mean 2022 season
  6. Would they? Simple question - would Dombrowski have traded Betts? He showed he was not able to sign him, and per Mookie didn’t even try to. But if DD doesn’t make that trade, Betts leaves, no Verdugo, no Wong and Price would have been on the team last season…
  7. Bloom seemed to lose it in July/August, at least the last two years. Which was made even more stupid by the fact that he was able to be pretty good in 2021…
  8. Need a like button. Also add please improve the defense…
  9. So you’re saying he didn’t rebuild the Tigers through free agency and by dealing their prospects?
  10. Urias over Arroyo?
  11. He rebuilt the Tigers through free agency and dealing the farm. That’s not much different than what he did in Boston…
  12. Not to mention, Click went to Houston and presided over a World Series champ. Bloom didn’t work out, but the track record of former Rays’ execs is solid…
  13. Either Bader or Duvall could platoon, but given the current and likely state of the Sox outfield, a full time starting job isn’t hard to imagine…
  14. I’m not sold on small sample sizes for his pop. He’s a career .396 SLG with a .153 ISO. He can pop a bit I suppose. But he’s a limited hitter. If you’re looking for a RH hitter, Bader is probably not the guy. But I like him because he’s a good overall ballplayer and a big defensive step up…
  15. Assuming anyone else would give him a full time job. Boston might be his best fit. And if the Sox move Verdugo or Duran, Duvall has a clearer path to starting full time than he would on most teams…
  16. I don’t think I’m going out on a weak limb when I state that there is zero chance Stanton and his 4 year $118 remaining contract will not be limited to a weak side platoon role at DH…
  17. Duvall is actually a pretty good fit given his right-handed power and that he has the defensive skillset to handle RF at Fenway better than most other available options…
  18. Certainly he is. He was the only one who didn’t have multiple last place finishes on his watch…
  19. Urias feels like the most likely. Especially if the new boss isn’t remarkably fond of him…
  20. Hopefully not. Valdez couldn’t catch a cold of he was naked in Norway. (I do like that line for bad defense, but I will work on a newer one.)
  21. I’m sure you can extend Duran lot going all the way to $80mill…
  22. Wrong, or at least incomplete. It’s not just an “84 win team for $240mill”; it was “a $240mill 84 win team with $300mill still committed to 3 oft-injured pitchers.”. And sometimes I talk about the death of minimum wage help available. You don’t think that was a factor in why DD was fired? Or do you think he was fired for being sassy with JH? It’s not like I’m misrepresenting anything; I’m not the one who fired Dombrowski…
  23. Then get and extend Juan Soto…
  24. I think the list is simple. 1. Money. It’s a job after all. 2. Years. But not to stretch out the money. Add more money and let my retirement be my choice. 3. Playing time. I think most players would rather start on a bad team than sit on the bench of a good one. That’s what I think players look for. Although I admit I didn’t interview any to make that list…
  25. It’s like any other job. Money is a huge factor…
