  1. Emmet went in the 6th round…
  2. It’s very unlikely the Sox have a newly acquired pitcher available before August 3rd….
  3. Very short term and don’t count on him. The Sox signed Paxton nineteen months ago and so far he’s pitched all of 12 games. Durability was not part of his past and is therefore very unlikely to be part of his future. I’d trade him and still buy this off-season. The dumbest plan of all involves buying while counting on Paxton, especially after one year after the Sox went buying after counting on Eovaldi…
  4. No. Just frustrated another local college kid got away..
  5. Unless Duran actually did get hurt. But it’s hard to say. Cora seems to pull Duran if any left handed pitcher just exists on the opposing roster…
  6. Duran came out of the game earlier after the 7th when Cora made a double switch.
  7. When will Duvall just go to the bench and stay three? This guy keeps getting chances over Duran, but has a .607 OPS since returning from the IL…
  8. It played at Boston College…
  9. Find me a better SP who will sign for $16mill AAV or less, and do so for only three years…
  10. Most likely a promising A baller. I think the BTV valuation is probably close. If it took someone like Romero (whom BTV labels a “Moderate Overpay” in this case), that wouldn’t surprise me. It’s not going to cost Mayer or Anthony or Bleis. Maybe Rafaela for a bigger overpay, but I think Bloom walks or looks elsewhere…
  11. Your arguments are all over the place. And Marcus “Head Case” Stroman is beloved by his teammates out here, who call him “HDMH”. (Height Doesn’t Measure Heart)
  12. Hey the Boston Media Illiterati like to do anything to rile the fanbase, such as focusing heavily on the phrase “bridge year” when the Sox had just given out the largest free agent pitcher contract in team history, which should have made it obvious they weren’t focusing solely on the future….
  13. Schreiber was waived by Detroit. He was also 27 at the time…
  14. I’m sure Henry was much more into offloading Price than Betts. That inclusion was inevitable…
  15. Oh yeah. Sox do really need SP right now but it isn’t likely anything happens for 9-10 more days…
  16. The Dodgers didn’t build a franchise that gets to the postseason every year by trading players like Emmett Sheehan for broken down rental vets like Paxton. Per BTV, Sheehan will cost Yorke. Unfortunately the Dodgers need Sheehan more right now…
  17. I don’t see teams in the running giving MLB pitching…
  18. I think if the Sox didn’t get some veteran players in those deals, accusations would be even more rampant (and truthfully, more justified) that Bloom was ignoring the MLB roster for the minors. Cordero and Bradley were already just likely stopgap solutions anyway. And the Sox acquired Hamilton, Winckowski, Binelas, Downs, Wong, Valdez, Gambrell and De La Rosa for those three…
  19. Only during multiplication, not during addition or subtraction…
  20. “Addition by subtraction” is just subtraction…
  21. The last pen game was almost exclusively Pivetta…
  22. I think he’s out pitching his baseball card stats. Is he doing it well enough to take him on through age 34? That’s another question…
  23. Was Bello ever a top 100 prospect? B-R doesn’t list him as ranked anywhere, but I don’t think they include midseason rankings…
  24. Well, it isn’t a perfect system. It essentially says St. Louis would be happy to dump the salary. They might be, but they also might want to keep a couple SP for next year, and with Montgomery hitting free agency, Wainwright retiring, and Flaherty hitting FA (and per some talking heads, wanting out of St. Louis), they would be heading into 2024 with only Mikolas under contract if they dealt Matz…
  25. The sleeper this off-season might be Steve Matz, who outfield Stroman last night. Matz’ “back of the card” numbers have been weak in St. Louis, but his velocity and K% are right where they were when he was an effective pitcher for Toronto. Matz is owed $25mill over the last 2 years of his deal with St. Louis ($11mill AAV). His BTV trade value is (-0.1).
