  1. Yes if you watched more than highlights…
  2. If the price for Giolito is $20-25mill, Sale suddenly becomes more tradable…
  3. A lot does depend on budget. But even simply getting 2 arms better than Crawford/Pivetta will improve the rotation immensely. I’m still on the Sonny Gray Train, but it’s really tough to gauge what type of deal he might get. Last year, the actual offers blow most of the predictions out of the water…
  4. I understand if the goal was to get a pitcher who could blow past the incredibly low threshold of 130 IP. They absolutely failed to get one after being spurned by Eflin and Eovaldi. Wacha actually might be available this year. SD might not exercise the team option, and Wacha has no real incentive to exercise an option he outpitched…
  5. I’ve pointed that out as well. Wacha was a clear durability issue. Kluber was a lesser one…
  6. I’m thinking Acquisition Acquisition Bello Crawford Sale And Pivetta starts when Sale isn’t available…
  7. C: Wong (McGuire) 1b: Devers 2b: Urias 3b: Chapman SS: Story Util INF: Reyes LF: Yoshida CF: Rafaela RF: Verdugo DH: Casas OF: Refsnyder I could see moving Duran for SP or an another 2b instead of Urias. If the Sox move Verdugo, an Abreu/Dunn platoon makes sense…
  8. Kluber threw 116 IP total from 2019 through 2021…
  9. Well there will be some sort of change in personnel going on, and hopefully the new front office has a clue that defense is a big issue and usually the cheapest to fix. And it won’t go away by hoping Devers becomes a more complete player. And keeping that horrible defensive alignment to accommodate a 39yo DH should be a firable offense…
  10. I have no issues with Crawford as a SP. I do think they need two other SPs as well. But a RHH bat to protect Devers in fromt of a league worst defense makes zero sense. Sox were, despite the slow finish, a top ten offense. They were not a top 29 defense…
  11. He can field the position…
  12. Too many people say stupid stupid like this. “Don’t spend on the league-worst defense. It will just have to get better.” Or “give Casas a chance to get better.” And “Devers can get better.” And they actually think this will work? Maybe the Sox should also try this approach to pitching. Ignore it and hope it gets better miraculously. “Bello and Crawford will just have to do better.” (Ironically this is actually more likely than Casas and Devers improving defensively by merely trying harder.). Or maybe the Sox should bring back Kluber and hope he can do better!! And Paxton can do better. No bad contracts! Much cheaper!! Ignore and Hope for 2024!!
  13. Maybe it was done to Mookie’s benefit. “Yes we could go to $300mil, but that puts you in a very unfavorable tax bracket.”
  14. Wacha wasn’t a difference maker. He was a decent pitcher with major durability issues. Isn’t that another thing we had enough of?
  15. So you think the Sox are going to bring in a new hit who goes into Sell Mode even when the team is winning?
  16. I can’t blame Grady. That bullpen was horrific that year. I get wanting and needing to squeeze as much Pedro as you can out of the guy…
  17. He might come back. But it’s not the right move…
  18. Per MLBTR, Wacha was giving that number to multiple teams. No one was biting. He only signed with San Diego because they put together this option and incentive-laden deal…
  19. And yet he rips them all the time..
  20. I recall a lot of buzz about him wanting to try free agency. That night has Dave been the case even after being dealt to LA. He didn’t sign that extension until after MLB started cancelling games…
  21. It’s an MLBPA thing. It’s not in the CBA. MLBPA is the one who encourages their members to take the most money.
  22. I’m a bit hesitant to call it a rush signing. He was at least Plan C. Maybe even lower off there were any free agent or trade talks we don’t know about…
  23. It doesn’t matter if he likes Boston or his wife likes Boston. All that matters is Boston has to make the highest offer. The MLBPA requires players to take the most money (and interpreting options as they see fit) and Turner, a former Player Rep and active union member, is 99.999999% likely to abide by the union requirement…
  24. That was his demand when he talked to Boston according to MLBTR…
  25. Not at all…
