  1. It was actually surprising because that bullpen was awful…
  2. He’ll be back. Just like I said in December…
  3. Maybe I looked at the age at his debut. Either way, he’s the one whose been pitching…
  4. Scott is only a year older than Song and has already earned a trip to MLB more than once. He might be the bottom of the barrel, but at least he’s in the barrel. Right now, Song’s career is what he did at the Naval Academy 4-8 years ago, plus 30 IP spread out over 4 seasons. He might not be the pitcher he was once…
  5. Bloom didn’t sign Sale. I also worry l wouldn’t call Story “injury prone.” He might have been damaged goods (which is not the same thing), but he never missed any time before he got to Boston…
  6. Their definition of help might differ from ours, too. Some people on here think it only means Scherzer or Verlander. Maybe to them, help is pitchers like Robertson and Llovera…
  7. Maybe. But it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t. He pitched 11 IP this year across 3 levels on a short Military List activation. He did strike out 16 batters, but also walked 11 and gave up 9 ER. At this point, he’s also 26 and probably not the best gamble on the waiver wire, especially given his lack of experience and Rule 5 status. I would bet more surprised if he was claimed than of he passed through waivers…
  8. Not saying I wouldn’t have minded them, but I think it’s a stretch to call Flaherty, Lorenzen and Civale “innings eaters” given the three of them have combined to top 125IP exactly twice in their careers. Both times by Flaherty. In 2018 and 2019…
  9. His job isn’t a matter of opinion…
  10. Why would they want to? At this point, he’s a pitcher who hasn’t thrown a pitch since 2019 in Rookie Ball. Nearly everyday, someone gets DFAd whose more MLB ready…
  11. I remember once on another forum, fans were ripping Epstein before the 2007 season because the Sox “hadn’t won a playoff game since game 4 of the2004 World Series. The entitlement set in fast with some…
  12. Not to mention, despite what we all believe - it’s not his money. Upgrading his yacht with Red Sox payroll savings is probably embezzlement…
  13. Not sure about Bloom, but it’s not exactly uncommon for any manager/leader to give autonomous responsibility. Otherwise the job just gets to be too much. I believe that was a primary reason Cherington quit was he felt (or was told) he wouldn’t have that autonomous responsibility, assuming he was left with any responsibility at all…
  14. Maybe it’s a good trade. Urias has been optioned to Worcester. He might not see Boston this year, and is a potential non-tender candidate this offseason…
  15. I think he talks far more than other front office personnel, and he really shouldn’t. Reality often gets in the way of his fanciful promises…
  16. He was DFAd a few days ago. Given his Rule 5 status, he’s very likely to clear. But he’s still no closer to being an MLB pitcher…
  17. The big problem is on those 10-15 days when everyone comes back, the Sox do play 9-13 games. Hopefully they can maintain striking distance…
  18. I was disappointed, too, but I’m not saying the players on the team are or should be…
  19. But does that mean they’re giving up more that we didn’t? The Sox did add two pitchers to the 40 man roster in the past two weeks. Just not ones we’re familiar with, and might never get too familiar with …
  20. Well, he is eligible for arbitration next year. And Milwaukee is certainly one of the more budget-conscious teams in the league…
  21. Just because you’re going to Switzrland doesn’t mean you need a chocolate-covered passport…
  22. Does that actually happen? Seems to me off they did bring in some new players, they’re yelling at least one guy he isn’t doing good job..
  23. There’s the argument that not making acquisitions sends a negative message to the players. Maybe. But what’s true is acquiring a deadline player sends a very negative message to at least one player on your team…
  24. Fans like to blame that, but I have serious doubts it affects players.
  25. I’m not abandoning ship. But I’m very displeased with the cruise director’s choice of entertainment…
