  1. I don’t think his plummet occurred in the past week; he’s been struggling all year and that was on full view for every scout to see. Also he’s in A ball. Most of the players dealt for SP in deadline deals were in AA or better.
  2. You are obsessed with the notion that Paulino is a highly sought-after trade commodity…
  3. The list is incomplete without Fredbird…
  4. … or this year’s Major League team?
  5. I think they should have a gladiator battle for the rights to be mascot. Televise it on NESN
  6. No one lives in those states anymore…
  7. To be fair, the only reason Richards flamed out and went to the pen is because he wasn’t allowed to cheat anymore…
  8. 1. Who throws out bathwater? You drain it away, quite often down a drain with a well tested and approved “Baby Guard” filter on it. 2. What if it’s a Baby Dahmer?
  9. No drama in that…
  10. Kike was below replacement level at shortstop. Replacement level was a clear upgrade…
  11. This is at least an 80-85 win team. Why do people think tearing it all down and rebuilding is so easy? That’s a multiyear process that rarely works…
  12. Give Wally a blindfold and cigarette and stand him up against the Green Monster…
  13. And to start the year, trying out Kike was ok. But after Reyes was acquired and with Chang on board, using Kike was just wrong….
  14. Well, you did focus on the mental aspect. And it might be a factor for some. But I refuse to speak for them. Now as for bullpen wear, always an issue. Granted, any MLB arm they acquire might already come with its own set of attached IP. I expect Worcester to be a bigger factor than most of us prefer it be.
  15. Bloom’s waiver wire scouting isn’t the issue. Every GM does it. Even high-spending Dombrowski brought in such pitching luminaries as Blaine Boyer, Justin Haley and Hector Velasquez. The issue with Bloom is the failure to make bigger trades. He doesn’t need to empty the farm, but once in a while, deal your #10 or 11 prospect for an actual major leaguer…
  16. And hey… https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/08/dallas-keuchel-opts-out-of-twins-contract.html
  17. To continue. But these shouldn’t be your only adds. It’s great when you find a John Schreiber or Brennan Bernardino. But, man, go out once in a while and get yourself an Aroldis Chapman…
  18. Every team uses guys like Tayler Scott and Jake Faria. The Mets, who set payroll records this year, have still used guys like Jimmy Yacobonis, Reed Garrett, and Jeff Brigham…
  19. This is good news. Your negativity often leads to hot streaks…
  20. Bloom gave him other options, like Reyes and Chang and (eventually) Hamilton. But I think Cora makes the lineup. I certainly hold him responsible for it…
  21. Oh the “Bloom makes the lineup” theory was floated out here last year…
  22. Those were methamphetamines…
  23. Sometimes farm systems drop for a good reason - like when last year’s top prospects become this year’s starting players…
  24. DD looked like it was time to go. After a great initial run, his 4th year left an 84 win team with a $240mill payroll, nearly $300mill tied up in 3 oft-injured pitchers, and no help coming up from below. And all this while the AL East was getting tougher. He wasn’t fired without some sort of reasoning…
