  1. Crochet is a unique case. He was drafted in June, 2020 and debuted for the White Sox in September, 2020. In between those date, he did not play minor league ball because, well, there was no minor league ball in 2020. Did this hurt his development? No idea. But he’s not a good example to compare to Tolle since it’s already too late for Tolle to skip the minors…
  2. Neither of us can know if they were to blame for that. They did the same thing with Sale. Was it their fault he needed TJS nine years later? COVID was a bigger factor in Crochet’s lack of minor league development…
  3. So this is solving the lack of high leverage arms in the bullpen?
  4. Then why was he added to the 40 man and called up last year?
  5. The White Sox didnt develop Crochet. They drafted him in June, 2020 and he was in MLB by that September…
  6. To be fair, the guy that posted it lives in Mexico City. Maybe he was thinking about Cruz Azul games?
  7. MLB has some weird rule about trades that involve time machines….
  8. For starters, both sides have to agree on terms…
  9. We traded Verdugo for Weissert and part of Sonny Gray. All we got from Betts is a backup catcher. So I see your point…
  10. So you’re saying we need. more Chengs? Possibly up to six? Thats a tall order …
  11. He’s 55 years old! If you want a geriatric third baseman, at least pick Hall of Famer and star of the movie Swamp Shark Wade Boggs…
  12. They want other people to stop having fun so they can have fun…
  13. It was obvious with Devers by 2022, and technically Cora still hasn’t tackled that one yet…
  14. So your assignment for the rest of the week now that you’ve explained why it’s called “circling the bases”””, is to explain how a hitter can “square up” a round bat vs a round ball. And for extra credit, explain why they call it a “diamond” when it is clearly a square. ..
  15. That does make sense. Last year, Philadelphia’s Jesus Luzardo had an issue tipping pitches. In back-to-back outings, he totaled 20 earned runs in just 5.2 IP, looking a lot like Crochet tonight. Once he realized what was happening, he stopped doing it and resumed his dominant season…
  16. This I also agree with. Of course the Sox manager is too much of a wimp to ask a player to change positions simply because he just can’t play his old one anymore…
  17. Ignoring catcher was my second biggest gripe about Breslow’s off-season, after ignoring the bullpen. And my prediction of Duran/Dalton Rushing trade never materialized. The biggest obstacle was probably that the Dodgers were heavily targeting Kyle Tucker…
  18. Do you go to games? You live further from Fenway than I do, and I’m exactly 1,040 miles away (per Google Maps.) Let’s not pick on the people actually financing the team. If Fenway tickets only went to diehard fans, the team would never draw 10,000 fans ever again. The Baseball Junkies Crowd isn’t as large as represented on these forums, especially among people close enough to attend games. Stop the “pink hats” from going and you reduce the Sox revenue even more and give ownership even more reasons to cut payroll. Or to sell the team to someone who now has legit business reasons NOT to invest in the payroll to the satisfaction of diehard fans. If you look at the type of people who own MLB franchises, most of them spend much less than Henry already. Spending on payroll isn’t the panacea fans think it is. Only 4 of the top ten payrolls are over .500, and only 3 are more than 1 game over. And all of this fuss is because the Sox didn’t add Pete Alonso, who has a .581 OPS, 1 HR, and 5 RBI…
  19. Plus I thought Cora said something at some point about wanting him to pull more …
  20. Massive oversight on their part. I was wondering if they meant at the time the teams played. For example, Cincinnati was 0-0, 0-1 and 1-1 at the start of each game with Boston. But there is no getting around that the Brewers were 7-2 at the start of their series with Boston…
