  1. Why would Tolle push Moran off the 40 when both are already on the 40? I doubt they release Moran just to promote Tolle to the back end of the bullpen. i could see, say, Hayden Mullins pushing Moran off the 40 at some point. If Crawford is not fully healthy and Tolle is in the minors (and the Sox use a 5 man rotation that ends with Sandoval), who gets those last two bullpen slots ? Kelly and Uberstine?
  2. Who do you have as the ther 1 teams in the AL besides the Yankees?
  3. So the Yankees are a lock for first? Fangraphs has them third. The problem with the AL East is the top four teams could finish in any order and could all make the postseason. Not likely, but possible. A lot will come down, unfortunately, to injuries…
  4. And last year’s team was carried by pitching. There is a good chance this year’s pitching is actually better. I would like another quality arm (or two) in that bullpen. But I’m fine if they are Crawford and/or Tolle…
  5. Even with the DH, many/most?/all?? colleges still have two way players. Most high school draft picks are shortstops. As you said, they batted cleanup (for a reason) and could throw. Most of them will also stop being shortstops at some point. There’s a reason teams with weak minor league outfielder crops still draft high school shortstops…
  6. As long as it’s Tanner Houck…
  7. The Sox outscored the Rangers by 100 runs last year and the Royals by 130. Do you really think Boston’s offense has dropped off that much? Or that either Texas or KC has done enough to significantly close that gap? The biggest offensive additions these teams made were Brandon Nimmo (Rangers) and Isaac Collins (Royals) Or that either team has equal or better SP? It occurs to me that most people saying the Sox are going to be worse than all these other teams are not actually taking into account those other teams…
  8. Because none of us have played above high school and comparing high school baseball to MLB should never be done?
  9. I actually moved on from trading Duran a while ago and thought Bello was the more viable trade piece, largely because we had really crazy SP depth at one point, but also because more teams need controlled SP than arb-eligible outfielders…
  10. Not good, because Bugs would throw his glove at a ball out of reach to catch it (successfully, no less), but during a non-cartoon game that would result in the hitter being awarded 3 bases…
  11. He did also just turn 26. His injuries might not linger like they can on a 35 year old..
  12. I’ve just never heard that word used in a baseball context before. Can you also do one with “trebucheted”?
  13. They say lots of things. But they might find themselves reacting differently as situations change…
  14. They might eventually. Triston Casas isnt dead…
  15. Do we know he isn’t catching part time yet? If Casas comes back and Narvaez struggles or gets hurt, maybe we see Willson play catcher. But it’s hard to say he aged out of the position in St. Louis when they had plenty of depth at catcher and none at 1b…
  16. That’s why I’m glad they kept all the OF. Apparently no one wanted Duran at their price, and I’m ok with them not settling just to clear up the logjam that could very easily fix itself in time…
  17. Because: 1. He sucks at catching and his tendency to set up too close to hitters proved dangerous. He broke his left arm when it was struck by JD Martínez mid-swing. 2. St. Louis had multiple catching options and no first baseman. Last year they carried 3 catchers not counting Contreras. Ivan Herrera’s arm surgery limited him to DH duties, but they still had Pedro Pages and Yohel Pozo doing the catching.
  18. Getting Schwarber also means sitting one of Duran, Anthony, Abreu or Rafaela. Did you subtract that out?
  19. Last month - Ranger Suarez…
  20. Gasper isn’t going to make the 26 man roster and might not stay on the 40 man very long. You really can’t (or maybe I should say “shouldn’t “) equate the top 26 roster spots to the final 14, especially since Gasper has an ability Schwarber and Alonso don’t - the ability to be demoted to AAA. Because that is vital for those last 14 roster spots…
  21. Every struggling hitter can get free advice on hitting major league pitching on this board…
  22. The rift between Dombrowski and Harper is overblown. Harper isnt going anywhere…
  23. Nobody counts the Mariners…
  24. Then why were you bringing up Gasper at all?
