  1. They’ve made bad free agent deals before. Mike Hampton didn’t work out there, for example…
  2. Colorado just doesnt make deadline trades. Pending free agent? They keep the guy and then don’t make a QO. No one knows why. Not even them…
  3. …. And it’s ok if the players you trade work out if you get the player you wanted (and he works out). Thats how trades are supposed to work…
  4. I’m against breaking up the rotation. Eyanson might have the higher ceiling, but Early and Bennett are already in the room…
  5. Stories go both ways. I keep seeing CJ Abrams name on the block, but that looks like a sell high opportunity…
  6. Ummmm…”no longer with us” usually means more than a trip to the Injured List…
  7. Curtis Mead (RHH 2b/3b) - reasonable push Freddy Peralta (RHSP) - modest pickup Hunter Goodman (C/DH) - unreasonable emptying of farm
  8. If I’m Colorado, I want no part of Early and his popping elbow. But I’d be fine with Eyanson…
  9. As (I think) the first to mention Marte, bear in mind: 1. Marte is only signed for something like 4 yrs $74mill after this year, so about half the money for one less season. 2. More of Lindor’s value is tied to his defense, which is his biggest issue so far this year already.
  10. Lindor giving 15 fWAR over the next 5 years is fine, but you’re talking about ages 33-37. It’s very possible you only get 8-10 fWAR in those years, especially if injuries factor in. Money is not the issue, because Lindor would cost lesser prospects that could equalize the costs. But Lindor is getting into that age range where decline can be sudden and without warning. And then there’s the question about why are the Mets trying to move him? Cohen has a greater net worth than the bottom 10 MLB owners combined. Is their real goal strictly financial?
  11. It’s not even the money. Story’s deal is done after next year. Lindor would be around steadily aging until 2032.
  12. And we might be paying Lindor to do that for 3-5 years…

… or until he loses, whichever comes first…
  14. Probably better off with Story. Lindor has 5 years left…
