  1. Absolutely. All he did was trade for and extend Crochet, extend Anthony, bring on Lowe, extend Campbell, trade for Narvaez, sign and extend Chapman, unload the unco-operative Devers and his entire contract, sign Bregman, extend Bello, and extend Rafaela. All of that can be overlooked because he committed the unforgivable act of acquiring the wrong pitcher with an ERA north of 5 over the past month…
  2. They also stole Carl Crawford and Nick Punto from us…
  3. It’s a one month sample. Ryan is a better pitcher overall, but he hasn’t been that much better since that trade
  4. Huh? Our return was headlined by a guy with a .761 OPS in AA…
  5. If you were GM of the Twins and your job and professional reputation ride on making good on a Joe Ryan trade, are you honestly telling me you would have accepted Duran (whose control doesn’t align with a rebuild), Sandlin and Mullins? And passed on Tolle?
  6. Well, if the players preferred to keep the roster largely intact, that means Duran, Abreu and Mayer were off limits (along with Anthony). At that point, Tolle is definitely included in the trade…
  7. Sure, but thats over a long sample. The last 2 months of this season are a short one, and players can perform below their norms for short samples for a multitude of reasons. Since the deadline, Ryan hasn’t not pitched all that much better than May. This is a fact. Whichever one had made the last 5 starts in Boston would have been underperforming. And if Ryan is hurt or fatigued, he would dry likely not improve this year. But what Ryan would do is cost at least one of Anthony, Mayer or Tolle. Maybe more. (BTV at the time had Ryan’s surplus value roughly equal to Mayer plus Tolle.)
  8. I said since the trade deadline. You know, when he would have come to Boston. His performances from April through July are of no use to Boston. I don’t know what it would have cost, but much more than May. It’s an incredibly safe bet names like Anthony, Tolle, and Mayer were on the Twins’ wish list…
  9. Are you saying you would not be complaining about Ryan and his 5+ ERA? And he probably would have cost Tolle plus. I’ll take May and Tolle over Ryan and his 5+ ERA…
  10. Since the trade deadline: Dustin May: 5.76 ERA (includes today) Joe Ryan: 5.06 ERA The grass isn’t that much greener. Especially considering Ryan wasn’t available for Tibbs…
  11. You clearly never met those 4 people…
  12. Maybe he left Tolle in too long. Hicks’ run turned out to be inconsequential. But theres no shame in getting shut down by one of the best pitchers in the game…
  13. Skenes has a .553 OPSA this year. He shuts down MLB teams…
  14. Yankees have to pass Boston. MLB now uses tie breakers and the Sox have already clinched their tie breaker with NY…
  15. Three of the Sox last 4 losses came when facing Skenes, Rodon and Trevor Rogers. And the other one was in extra innings. It does take a lot to beat this team, despite all the complaints…
  16. Obviously Cora was forced to start Sogard by Breslow…
  17. Does Breslow make out lineups?
  18. Questionable because September callous are 3 days away, but the Ghost cannot be recalled for 10 days (barring injuries, doubleheaders, and the usual loopholes..
  19. Very unlikely. Releasing Yoshida would cost Boston nearly $40mill, a far cry from the $3-4 mill Buehler had left on his deal. Plus Yoshida is optionable, which does have value. Oh, and Cora seems to like playing him…
  20. He will wind up with a contender very shortly…
  21. They will probably use a dozen starters next year, like they do nearly every year. But they can only have 5 healthy SPs without options on opening day. If Harrison finds his niche in the bullpen, that’s fine. But I think he gets a chance to start at some point. Don’t forget that despite already having 188 IP as a starter, he’s only about a year and a half older than Tolle…
  22. The Sox have multiple 1b options already in-house. While I suspect Lowe will get non-tendered, it’s not my decision. I’m no fan of Casas, but he isn’t dead yet. And Campbell is still in the picture. Instead of Alonso or trading for Ryan, would 31yo Ketel Marte (5 yrs $91mill) left be the smarter target? THE plus is he’s the best 2b in MLB with a reasonable deal for that honor. The minus is he’s apparently kind of whiny and seems to have fallen into disfavor with the Diamondbacks… Duran plus something minor (Jedixson Paez) for Marte and the contract of old friend Eduardo Rodriguez l(2yrs $46mill) works out on BTV..
  23. This is about 2026. Outside of Houck and maybe Fitts, all those other names will be back. Harrison just turned 24 and has 188 MLB IP to his name. He’s been below average but has time to improve. He will be in the 2026 starting pitcher picture at some point…
