  1. Oh all that and probably lots more. But he is also a mega talented player when healthy with a monstrous Fenway swing and a throwing cannon that makes Jackie Bradley look like Johnny Damon trying to throw with his weak arm.
  2. Eh. It's not like we have been drafting very well anyway. Since 2012, the only Sox first and second rounders to even make the majors are Benintendi, Chavis, Sam Travis, and Michael Kopech, The first and second round in 2012 did produce 4 future major leaguers, but they were Deven Marrero, Brian Johnson, Pat Light, and Jamie Callahan. Not going to miss them. And that's top rounds of the last 9 drafts in a nutshell...
  3. Hey, it's like that everywhere I've worked in my life. Any problem that arises after someone leaves was clearly all his or her fault. You can use that one for a good 4 months...
  4. Exactly what is the analysis you think is paralyzing them? The high asking price for Price/Betts simply means they prefer to keep both, but can be bought if an offer arises. I think the paralysis is financial. The problem with trading Price (the preferred departure) is in the long run, that probably nets nothing in the way of a salary cut. The problem with trading Betts is it makes competing more difficult. Henry has made mutliple contradicting statements that basically all point to cutting costs. The paralysis is a financial one...
  5. I'm fine with it, too. Although trading for Odor might be going to far. Hellickson can just sign another MiLB deal and come up when Eovaldi gets hurt...
  6. He's not a great defender. He might be able to switch to 1B where his glove is less of a liability.
  7. I'm telling you. 4 moves 1. Trade Bradley for Jake Lamb. The Diamndibacks depth chart lists Ketel Marte as starting at both 2B and CF. Lamb is their backup 1B/3B and makes $5mill. But he crushes RHP when healthy. This trde does make sense for both teams. 2. Sign Yasiel Puig. If he accepts the MLBTR prediction of 1 year $8mill, he becomes a wild card gamble who could either carry or kill this team. 3. Sign Jeremy Hellickson. 4. Sign Cesar Puello. The Sox will need a 4th outfielder/Puig insurance. Puello's defensive metrics are outstanding for his limited time. If he can maintain them in the event Puig goes nuts, it will be worth it. 5. Trade Eovaldi for Rougned Odor. (Optional move.) Bad contract swap. Odor can play 2B and swat home runs. This move likely means Tzu-Wei Lin struggles for a roster spot. If Puig was more stable, Lin could just be the 4th outfielder seeing limited action. Or maybe Puello signs a MiLB deal. The Sox would have to DFA 3 players, Ryan Weber is the obvious one. Chris Mazza, Matt Hall, and Jeffrey Springs are also at risk. (And I would put Ryan Brasier in this category as well.) Boom. Holes filled. And I think the Sox cut about $7mill towards the cap as well.
  8. Very possible. But let's have them found guilty first...
  9. I actually think Odor is a little better than Myers, and Odor plays a position the Sox currently have manned by the winner of the Peraza/Lin/Hernandez/Chavis battle. He's an out machine, but he also has hit 30+ home runs 3 of the past 4 seasons...
  10. Might be more feasible if we still had Logan Allen or Michael Kopech or Jalen Beeks. Or anyone who could pitch at the MLB level...
  11. A straight up Myers/Price swap
  12. The Padres would be stupid to turn that deal down. But it’s not as good for the Sox...
  13. Chuckle away, but who replaces Price in the rotation? You might not like him, but he was worth 2.3 fWAR last season and 2.4 fWAR the year before. You ain’t gettin’ that outta Mike Shawaryn. I’d sooner deal Eovaldi, since you need a replacement for him whether you trade him or not...
  14. Rougned Odor is another pretty good one. He’s owed $37mill over the next 3 years on a contract with an $8.25mill AAV. He also isn’t very good at baseball, but he’s much better than Myers...
  15. The $17mill savings in AAV. It’s one of the more realistic salary dumps in a Price trade. It’s certainly not for his baseball skill set
  16. I certainly don’t consider Boston firing him an admission of guilt. The Mets fired Beltran for even less...
  17. I did. As geriatric players go, these weren’t the two most exciting names on my mind...
  18. All of this is predicated on the Sox being guilty. That might be the case, but it also might not. That the Sox have not talked to any external candidates that we know of and were last rumored to only be looking internally makes me think this “scandal” is having minimal impact on their search and Cora was fired as a PR move...
  19. St. Louis has a couple bad contracts with NTC’s they going to struggle to move. Carpenter is another...
  20. The simulator does not account for no trade clauses, like Fowler’s...
  21. Would you have preferred watching the 25 yo guys who weren’t good enough to take their jobs?
  22. Longevity is underrated, if anything. In a game where younger players and “next great things” are coming up every year, the ability to fend them off and keep your job should not be so casually overlooked...
  23. Not a bad trade. Simulator gives it a $12mill surplus advantage to Philly.
