    And the plan to fix it seems simple to me. 1. Option Campbell to Worcester and replace him on the bullpen with Fitts. Fitts gives them a solid RH power arm in that pen. Slaten should be activated soon and the Sox can see what shape he is in. 2. DFA Toro and recall Sogard, Grissom or Hamilton. (Preferably not Hamilton.) Or Kristian Campbell. 2b shouldn’t go to Rafaela, especially with Wilyer sitting. Romy is an acceptable stopgap for now. But getting Campbell back makes the most sense and giving Grissom a shot is at least a defensible plan.

    I normally think he’d be an acceptable bench role player, but Cora seems to like relying on him. With Lowe on board, no reason to call up Password and complicate the OF/1b/DH logjam even further. But maybe bringing up Grissom or Sogard to replace him on the bench. If Romy holds on to 2b, the Sox do lack any backup middle infielders…

    It’s amazing they won 68 games. Think about how flaws they are. I mean, the hitters make a minimum of 24 outs EVERY GAME. MINIMUM!! Also they’re 0-58 in games in which they give up more runs than they score!! Unacceptable!

    Seriously? Why stop here? f***ing Isaiah Campbell not only ruined the bullpen, but is also the leading cause of fentanyl addiction, divorce and K-Pop. I leave anything out?

    Agreed. Not following why draft pick number matter. Was anyone projecting Zach Cox or Richie Shaffer to post similar numbers to Mike Trout?

    The Orioles did get that lead to 4-0 with their inning off Moran before the Sox scored their first run. It was never 2-1. Small point…

    Not really. Eaton has two good skills - speed and throwing, which he does better than anyone in MLB except maybe Addison Bargar. (Ever seen that clip when the Royals let him pitch an inning and he was throwing 99mph fastballs by hitters?) Hitting is not his forte in any fashion…

    Romy Gonzalez hasn’t improved significantly? In 3 years of limited action with the White Sox, he had an OPS of .600. In two years in Boston with far more PA, he has an OPS of .791. I’d call a jump of 191 OPS points “significant improvement”…

    So “above average” means with the bat only? You must miss Devers. A .720 OPS from Rafaela is not the same as a .720 OPS from Toro…

    The Sox have used 20 different relief f pitchers so far this year. Just relief pitchers. And that’s not counting Abraham Toro and other position players. Cora can only use the groceries purchased for him, but at some point if he looks in that cupboard, he is going to find a can of SPAM. And so will every other MLB manager. But will they all find it on the 20th try or earlier?

    Having one player hitting at league average is NOT building the team around mediocrity, especially if that one player is among the team leaders in WAR because he is elite defensively. Your expectations are getting unrealistic…

    I ask in all seriousness, was the sarcasm in that post not apparent enough? I thought I iced it by blaming yesterday’s loss on Abner Doubleday. Campbell isn’t much and is probably also peaking. But the inability of Weissert and Whitlock this one day was NOT his fault. And if we are going to play some sort of hypothetical game here, why did Cora resort to Chapman to get one out with only a runner on first and the #9 hitter due up? Overkill? Couldn’t Weissert have done that? Everyone is blaming Campbell, but the Sox did win the game he pitched…

    … which is where for years I wanted Boston to move him. How are his numbers at third? (Before you go too far down this path, this was not a serious comment. While Devers is a lackluster 3b, I do doubt he is capable of derailing an entire pitching staff single-handedly.)

    I didn’t like the trade and was quite vocal about it. But it certainly could be a good, and possibly excellent, trade for Boston. If all that matters is “right now”, the the Sox won the Andersen-Bagwell trade during the 1990 season…

    AL average OPS is .720. So now league average is unacceptable? For a player who brings it with the glove?

    Former Pirates/Twins closer Kent Tekulve used to say “if it was up to me, I would never pitch 3 days in a row and never go 3 days without pitching.”
