  1. So the Astros at 69-56 are “well-managed” but the Sox at 68-58 are “flops”? Got it. The “well-managed” Astros did get swept at home in 4 games by the powerhouse Sacra-Vegas Athletics and lost 2 of 3 at home to the Orioles…
  2. It does strike me funny that folks who cannot handle losing 3 straight games think the solution is to lose for 3 straight years…
  3. The Sox took 2 out of 3 from the Marlins. Why is that so bad? They got swept by the Orioles, but it was a 2 game series. Not the same as getting swept in 3 games. This upcoming series? With Buehler going yesterday (aka not pitching) the Sox have given themselves their best chance, especially if May can keep it going…
  4. What about it? He’s a role player that only makes it to Boston when someone gets hurt. Every team has players like him, and some are less talented…
  5. The problem for many Boston sports fans is all those years of Epstein/Francona and Belichick did create very unrealistic expectations for a successful franchise. Especially since those were the best runs in the history of each franchise and they overlapped significantly…
  6. As unpopular as Henry is, we would be much more likely to get a cheaper owner than a more free-spending one…
  7. Yes. Of course my definition of compete probably differs from yours. But championship teams are not built in July. At best, they’re supplemented. I think the Sox have the players, but too many are still in Worcester…
  8. Does that mean if Fred passes first (and I’m not wishing for it) then his widow will come on here and bemoan every loss?
  9. That’s not what I said. What I did say is there has been very little difference in the 3 weeks since the Sox settled on May over Ryan. Both have allowed 4 ER; Ryan in 17 IP and May in 15.2 IP. May has been a pleasant surprise since his rocky debut. That deadline decision has not been a problem yet. And certainly hadn’t caused this unprecedented 3 game slide. So again - last time the Sox were 10 games over .500 on August 20? I honestly don’t know, but I bet it’s been a while…
  10. Also since the trade deadline, the difference between Ryan and Dustin May is Ryan has 1.1 more shutout innings. Four more outs. The deadline might not be the problem you think it was. Especially if Lowe does anything
  11. Right. Tear everything down and start over. Losing 3 straight games in August is unacceptable so the obvious solution is a multi year rebuild of multiple consecutive seasons below .500. Why settle for mediocrity when we could have perennial losers, right? Nothing makes you appreciate winning 80-82 games more than a few years of being under 70 wins. When was the last time the Sox were 10 games over .500 on August 20th?
  12. And the plan to fix it seems simple to me. 1. Option Campbell to Worcester and replace him on the bullpen with Fitts. Fitts gives them a solid RH power arm in that pen. Slaten should be activated soon and the Sox can see what shape he is in. 2. DFA Toro and recall Sogard, Grissom or Hamilton. (Preferably not Hamilton.) Or Kristian Campbell. 2b shouldn’t go to Rafaela, especially with Wilyer sitting. Romy is an acceptable stopgap for now. But getting Campbell back makes the most sense and giving Grissom a shot is at least a defensible plan.
  13. I normally think he’d be an acceptable bench role player, but Cora seems to like relying on him. With Lowe on board, no reason to call up Password and complicate the OF/1b/DH logjam even further. But maybe bringing up Grissom or Sogard to replace him on the bench. If Romy holds on to 2b, the Sox do lack any backup middle infielders…
  14. It’s amazing they won 68 games. Think about how flaws they are. I mean, the hitters make a minimum of 24 outs EVERY GAME. MINIMUM!! Also they’re 0-58 in games in which they give up more runs than they score!! Unacceptable!
  15. Seriously? Why stop here? f***ing Isaiah Campbell not only ruined the bullpen, but is also the leading cause of fentanyl addiction, divorce and K-Pop. I leave anything out?
  16. The Sox don’t need to stick with Toro. It’s a choice one guy keeps making…
  17. Unlike Kelenic, Roman is too busy playing baseball to author a website…
  18. Agreed. Not following why draft pick number matter. Was anyone projecting Zach Cox or Richie Shaffer to post similar numbers to Mike Trout?
  19. The Orioles did get that lead to 4-0 with their inning off Moran before the Sox scored their first run. It was never 2-1. Small point…
  20. Not really. Eaton has two good skills - speed and throwing, which he does better than anyone in MLB except maybe Addison Bargar. (Ever seen that clip when the Royals let him pitch an inning and he was throwing 99mph fastballs by hitters?) Hitting is not his forte in any fashion…
  21. Wait til he starts wearing the green one!!
  22. Sure they are. That’s why many scouts think Bryce Harper has the potential to one day be a Poor Man’s Mickey Moniak…
  23. You know, I was saying this just the other day to Mookie Betts…
