  1. You're looking at 40 at bat sample sizes. The difference between .400 and .600 OPS at that size is like two doubles and a walk...
  2. Well, he has already been fired for cheating once. So I guess you think he was just covering his tracks..
  3. If Dalbec gets demoted, the Sox might be better off just letting Marwin start at 1B. With all these super versatile guys, the Sox should not have to rely on the AAA team to fill positions...
  4. He's now up to 1.254. Slugging .810, which is a good OPS on its own...
  5. No minor league player should influence how a team drafts. No major league player either. Take the best player. A significant chunk of them change positions before they reach MLB anyway, and yes, that does include pitchers who become position players (and occasionally the opposite. Right, Matt Bush?)
  6. Well, I think you're clearly just trying to save John Henry's money!!!
  7. I think Dalbec also has the potential to hit .750 to .780. Also, he has the potential to draw a walk...
  8. I'm just saying, maybe we need at least three innings before we come to any conclusions. Four would be idea, but at least three... .
  9. I’ve read the opposite on this board as well...
  10. “Hey there, Mr. Beane. What would it take to pry Mitchie Two-Bags from your roster?”
  11. I say ban all fastballs under 95mph. They take too damn long to get to home plate, and it does add up when you have a lot of them...
  12. Let’s use a slightly larger sample size...
  13. Yes, Manfred is clearly coming across as a clueless moron, which is a few levels below regular moron. So he wants games to take less time, but not have that affect offenses, and certainly not by enforcing pitch clock rules. I think his next rules will be a ban on slower runners taking too long to hustle around the bases. This means you, Salvador Perez!!!
  14. Or Dice-Zzz, because you had time to take a full and restful nap in between pitches...
  15. While not difficult, it’s somewhat biased in that we only get their best relievers/pitchers in the first place. It would be like asking for the ERA of all the All Star pitchers from Texas as evidence about the superiority of pitchers from Texas...
  16. Fun non-racist fact: the two longest careers for Japanese pitchers in MLB belong to Hideo Nono (12 years) and Tomo Ohka (10 years). Of course, many are already 30 or close to it when they come to the USA...
  17. Chavis? If Dalbec continues to flounder, maybe the Sox decide to trade for Mitch Moreland!!
  18. If the Sox signed Holt instead of Hernandez to start at 2b, even with Holt being a fan favorite, there would have been grumblings about Bloom being cheap and not going for the better player...
  19. After injuries to the ever forgettable Joel Hanrahan and Andrew Bailey to get him into the role...
  20. Tom Gordon in 1998? I was pretty relaxed with Hideki Okajima in 2007. After that first pitch he threw that year, of course...
  21. The point was he did pretty well with his free agent signings, and whatever criteria he used to pick Enrique Hernandez is probably very similar in methodology to how he also went after Renfroe, Perez, Sawamura, Richards, etc. And despite the hiccup that is Kike, overall whatever he is doing to evaluate free agents is clearly working...
  22. Fair point. But still he’s done a good job. And even those two have had their moments...
  23. Yes, Dannny Santana is versatile. That means you can put him anywhere and watch him suck...
