  1. And maybe then they can bring in Correa or Story to play SS, move Bogaerts to 3B, move Devers to 1B, and move Dalbec to LF/DH...
  2. Bogaerts is the SS. Devers is the 3B. The rest of the infield is in flux...
  3. Yes, 9 games better than a Sox team that was down it's TWO bet starters. Put the Yankees in that position, and maybe Seattle replaces them as a wild card...
  4. Wouldn't a good leader do what was best for the team, even if it affected him personally? Or is sacrifice only for lesser players?
  5. He's 24. Think he stays 16th best 1b?
  6. How good would the Yankees have been last year without Gerrit Cole?
  7. Was Jeter really the Yankees "best player" once they acquired ARod, who was a two time MVP and worth about 40 more fWAR?
  8. Yeah I am not sure what all this "moving him to 3B" is. Who are the Sox making room for? The only other shortstops on the 40 man roster are Arroyo, Arauz, and maybe Jeter Downs. How many people is this team moving to 3b? Are they going to keep Devers there while still moving Bogaerts and Dalbec to third? I think this plan might be slightly flawed....
  9. ... which then turns into the other side of the exact same criticism...
  10. That was in 2014. 7 years ago. The last time Jordan Montgomery threw more than 45 innings he missed the next two seasons, but that doesn't stop the boasts about the Yankee pitching staff, which as fan as I can tell is Gerrit Cole and 4 guys who averaged 11 IP last year. And Montgomery's issues are way more recent than anything about Bogaerts, who is also the rare Boras' client who signed an extension just one year prior to free agency. In fact, in that regard, he might be an only...
  11. Exactly. The guy has 416 PA spread out over 4 seasons. His K rate in the minors was a hair over 20%. Granted, lesser pitching, but it also shows he can put the ball in play with greater frequency....
  12. Hasn't stopped Joey Gallo...
  13. Until we know what? How is Cordero ever going to learn to hit LHP if he “never” get to start? His career right now consists of 72 plate vs LHP spread out over 4 seasons. That’s meaningless data...
  14. Position by position comparisons are common, but really are useless unless you’re comparing defense. Just because two players play the same position doesn’t mean they fill the same role in the offense. For example, Verdugo over Grichuk. Yes Verdugo is better, but this really tells us our likely leadoff hitter is better than the Jays’ probable 8th spot hitter...
  15. Obviously only Cora’s opinion matters, but I like Verdugo Bogaerts Devers Martinez Renfroe Dalbec Cordero Hernandez Vazquez And Arroyo on the bench where he belongs.
  16. I think Cordero should be the CF. Soxprospects has him in LF with Verdugo in CF and Renfroe in RF. Renfroe certainly has the arm for RF, but I don’t think he can cover it in Fenway...
  17. I did say I fear it. We do have a manager that likes him...
  18. As much as I’d like Bradley back, my fear is the Sox already think they have a LHH outfielder to compliment Renfroe in LF with Marwin Gonzalez...
  19. So far, Hernandez appears to be slated for 2b. While I still think the Sox need an OF, they’re probably better off starting both Renfroe (LF) and Cordero (CF) over Arroyo or Chavis. Are people really that sold on Arroyo? He wasn’t really that good last year, and he’s been a disappointment around the league for a while now...
  20. I do think Verdugo-Bogaerts-Devers is the best top of the lineup....
  21. The problem is spending has long term repercussions. Paying players like Price and JDM as they age their way out of contributing doesn’t mean the team doesn’t spend. We just saw Colorado extend their homegrown superstar and then trade him anyway. Is that really any better? (Actually it’s worse, as the players they got back are arguably lesser players than Verdugo and Downs.)
  22. You think Henry doesn’t spend? Lucky for you that you didn’t grow up in Pittsburgh...
  23. The Sox need pitching, but the draft is such a crapshoot anyway, just take the best player regardless of position. I have my doubts either Rocket or Leiter last until the 4th pick. But these “MLB-ready” arsenals produce as many Jay Groome/Mark Appel types as they do David Price/Chris Sale types...
  24. I hope not. That’s like planning your retirement solely around winning MegaMlions. As much as Soto would be awesome, that involves planning around unknowns that the Sox cannot control. What if, 4 years from now, Soto signs a massive 10 year extension with Washington? Then what? Switch the focus to Wander Franco? A GM shouldn’t plan around players controlled by other teams. Only the ones he can control himself.
  25. Much like in poker, being “all in” is only a good thing if you follow it up with a win...
