  1. That's ok. Tampa will make me an offer as I help them to navigate the post-season...
  2. Agreed. Dalbec’s strong ending actually justifies keeping Casas in the minors for a few months, but his history necessitates making sure Casas is ready. Now if Dalbec does continue to be a monster at the plate, where does that leave Casas?
  3. I don’t consider extending Bogaerts to be either unrealistic or surprising. In fact, I think it will happen. The notion that Bloom hasn’t signed anyone to a big money deal because he only knows how to run Tampa just doesn’t hold water. I think the main reason he has yet to make those type of financial commitments is because he inherited a team with a $240 million dollar payroll, which is probably the highest payroll any GM/Pres of Ops has inherited in MLB history. (And I’m not sure why I even used the word “probably” there.) So signing Semien/Baez/Story - those certainly qualify to me as surprising moves that are realistic. Certainly they are realistic because historically the team has been able to afford those deals, but they also would surprise me because I expect the commitment for 2021 and beyond to be with Bogaerts…
  4. I think nearly every team has a Gilberto Jimenez they debate protecting. He’s probably one of 20 such high risk/high reward A ball players who will be left exposed. Perhaps the success of Baddoo will tempt more teams to take such a risk, but since they definitely won’t all pan out, there’s an equal to greater chance he gets returned, especially if the Sox make for difficult trade partners…
  5. Trading Casas would be either due to faith in Dalbec’s powerful end to his season, or a lack of faith in Casas’ future. That would surprise me to point of questioning if it’s even realistic…
  6. So…. For 2022, what would be the most surprise yet realistic move Bloom might make? I am on the fence about trading Bogaerts or declining Vaz’ option. I don’t think either move would surprise me. Trading Devers definitely would, but I also don’t think that’s realistic. Even if he carves up a bunch of throwback jerseys. Thoughts?
  7. It absolutely does. Would it have been preferable to win the division and lose our only postseason series?
  8. And I’m not so sure the old fashioned calls to kill the umpire are all that present anymore. But you just can’t express the same level of frustration by yelling “Decommission the robot!”
  9. d) for said efforts, he was paid $13 million, and is still owed another $11 million for next season…
  10. And, if you are a “glass half full” type, it makes zero mention of the umpire’s family…
  11. Akil Baddoo was coming off a season with a .683 OPS in A ball in 2019 at age 20 followed by a missed season in 2020. Age 20 Gilberto Jimenez posted a .751 OPS in A ball this past year and probably won’t follow it with a missing season. So, yes…
  12. Not really an everyday player, but Astros closer Ryan Pressly had all of 27 innings above A ball when Minnesota selected him from the Red Sox in the Rule 5 draft. Jimenez could be taken. But if I was in Bloom’s position, I might gamble that he wouldn’t be as well…
  13. Can't root for the Astros, despite their origins of being named after George Jetson's dog.. Not after 2017. They are fit to take their rightful place right behind the Yankees, sharing a bench with the Jets, Dolphins and the Lakers, on my Hierarchy of Loathsome Teams...
  14. Launch/angle and exit velocity are things I’m ok with hearing about afterwards, but I don’t like that teams practice optimizing them. It takes away a whole type of hitting. What do you suppose the average “launch angle” for Rod Carew was? 0 degrees?
  15. Akil Baddoo not only was selected out of A ball, he wasn’t even very good in A ball..
  16. What about teams practicing with bats loaded with sensors to optimize launch angles and maximize exit velocity? It’s not an in-game thing, but it is an instance of technology changing the existing game…
  17. Just so you know, there is not a single MLB owner or GM interested in acquiring your left nut. You might need a better bargaining chip…
  18. Well, you also might be unable to perform your job due to injury or just not being good enough anymore by age 25…
  19. To be fair, he was quoting Max….
  20. Not to mention, the owners are clearly getting their ROI. My biggest gripe with the Players Union is that they ignore all the minor leaguers- you know, the players who actually do need the protection.
  21. Well, Hamilton as never a question of talent. He was a question of patience and tolerance. He also took a 3 year hiatus from baseball before he was selected. Former AL HR champ George Bell was also a Rule 5 pick...
  22. It still would be umpired by humans. This is not about replacing anyone. Track and field has used automated timers for decades. Do you think that sport has been overrun with automation? And that’s one sport where the automation actually replaced the human officials. MLB is not going to replace anyone
  23. Unless you count tennis, track and field, and horse racing. Also, MLB will still be officiated by human umpires…
  24. The one thing I do appreciate about Little Caesar's is the price. At least they are not pretending they have quality stuff and are charging accordingly. They should drop the "Pan pan" crap and change their slogan to "It's $5. What did you expect?"
