  1. I never heard that and it seems like a really stupid rule to implement. So I suppose Manfred might have done it…
  2. Yeah right up there with dealing Bagwell for a massive middle reliever. It wasn’t a good day, but I expect more level-headedness from you…
  3. And he was a heckuva pitcher in college!! Do I sense another Shohei?
  4. Exactly. Not sure how the current mangement works, but the philosophy used to involve things like telling pitchers “work on your slider, so no fastballs this inning.” And often that results in big innings while that slider is a work in progress…
  5. Not sure if it was the last time, but the 2015 Kansas City Royals had a bottom 5 rotation and won the World Series
  6. Probably Dalbec, based on remaining years of control. That he can also play 3b probably helps, since playing 1b isn’t the most sought after skill…
  7. I don’t know. Could he have topped Bryse Wilson? A common thread with a lot of the players dealt for pitching, including Wilson, Josiah Gray, Keibert Ruiz, Spencer Howard, Lane Thomas, Nick Madrigal, and probably a few others is that they weren’t really minor leaguers any more. These guys all had MLB experience. Did the Sox have any players who reached MLB but still had enough control to be a good trade piece? Should they have dealt Duran? We did move Chavis for a pitcher. But if Nick Madrigal only gets you two months of Kimbrel, what’s Chavis worth?
  8. They had a f***ing dynasty, dude…
  9. Maybe. There were stories about them being in it until the end, but also stories about the Padres having a deal in place. I can’t say with any certainty. Now one thing we do know is even if he was dead set on not entering August without Scherzer, he really did not have the pieces to pull it off. Certainly Turner upped the price, but the Sox couldn’t do much to match an MLB-ready starting pitchers and an MLB-ready catcher, both of whom were ranked by every agency. I really doubt an offer of Casas and Duran gets it done at that point…
  10. It’s not as easy as it looks..
  11. Oh I got the sarcasm. But I respond that way for those who don’t…
  12. And those pucks have had 3 whole months of minor league play in the past two years to show how ready they are for MLB!! What’s the hold up here?
  13. And then tomorrow you can scream about it being time to DFA Ort and bring up Durban Feltman!
  14. Well, as ineffective as Richards has been, what if the DFA him and Seabold is worse?
  15. I don’t know if Ort would be worse, but I would never say anyone couldn’t be worse. Seems like the hole can always get a little deeper…
  16. My mistake. Still I doubt they DFA anyone based on 20 IP. Now if Richards gets a 10 day case of 24 hour flu, that’s another matter…
  17. The overwhelming bulk of baseball forum posts around the Internet involve proposing transactions that would or could never happen in the real world. I’ve made far more than my share of them…
  18. Rome wasn’t built in a single draft day…
  19. It might happen, but I seriously doubt they would jettison either pitcher to clear a path for Connor Seabold, who has thrown all of 5 minor league innings this season…
  20. Neither a Perez nor Richard can be demoted. All the Sox can do is DFA them and expose them to waivers…
  21. You can obviously trust the Insider Scoop of some guy named Jeff Abramo. I wouldn’t say he punted. Reportedly he was in on talks for Scherzer and Berrios right up to the end. The problem is, the Sox simply didn’t have the prospects to outbid the winning teams…
  22. Lotto?
  23. You’re still very spry. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise
  24. Cue the sarcastic responses!!
  25. Or, position WAR. The “A vs B vs C” scaling without any criteria is just too subjective. What were the grades even based on?
