  1. He's not much different of a hitter than Schwarber and JD, at least over the last 3 years...
  2. At this point, you're spanning 5 seasons. Not many pitchers are the same pitcher they were 5 years ago. Frankly. I felt using 3 seasons and 4 years was pushing it...
  3. But it is still a reason to avoid him. Stroman is a lesser pitcher than ERod. Offer ERod the QO and, if possible, extend him. Once ERod gets the QO, his value is less to other teams as they lose a drat pick, unlike the Sox. Stroman does have the advantage of no QO attached, so his appeal will already be universal among teams that can afford him...
  4. Nick Castellanos has opted out of his deal with the Reds. does this put him in the DH argument if JD does opt out? Last 3 seasons: Castellanos: (30 on opening day): OPS+ 124 Martinez (34 on opening day): OPS+ 125 Schwarber (29 on opening day): OPS+ 126
  5. Stroman is not better at all. For their last 3 seasons (both pitchers missed 2020). Stroman: 8.1 bWAR/8.8fWAR Rodriguez: 10.9 bWAR/9.6 fWAR I'll take ERod over Stroman...
  6. This is entering a slippery slope argument. The bottom line is we all want the games to be called correctly and fairly. And just because this cannot necessarily be done for every type of call doesn't mean it shouldn't be done for any type of call. It doesn't have to be 100% or nothing. The fact that baseball limited implemented instant replay to correct egregious calls and did so without implementing automated balls and strikes should dispel these types of arguments...
  7. I don't think the NL was underrated by AL fans. This board is largely populated by AL fans who mostly assumed the Dodgers were going to take the title almost unchallenged...
  8. Or because he receives other offers in the 6 year range...
  9. I'm not so sure I like the idea of moving Renfroe to accommodate Marte. Marte's 5.4 fWAR season looks like an aberration and he will most definitely be looking for multiyear deal...
  10. He's the best value out there, but tht operates on the assumption that he will do something he has always struggled to do - namely stay on the field...
  11. But will it be the longest offer he gets?
  12. I'm leaning towards poorly, with potential for disastrously...
  13. Better than Rodon?
  14. So the Marlins are expected to dole out a $340mill/10 year deal? Let me guess on the backloading. $5mill per for the first 8 years and then the final 2 years at $150mill each…
  15. And that call can still be reviewable. It's not even remotely the same call as the runner stealing second and breaking contact for a fraction of a second...
  16. For those who still love Scherzer
  17. Unless they were referring to the noise level emitted by the pen during the process...
  18. Not very well...
  19. There will be an umpire. And he will call it like he did before instant replay...
  20. Yes. Once you exit the bag's air space, you are in play...
  21. The simpler term is "pentagon"...
  22. A bit of recent trivia Who leads MLB in home runs over the past 4 seasons? If you guessed Nelson Cruz with 126, you're wrong. The correct answer is Eugenio Suarez with 129...
  23. I don't see the Red Sox non-tendering Renfroe. Of course, CJ Cron seems to get non-tendered and let walk every year despite hitting 87 HRs over the past 4 seasons...
  24. Rule 2-35 The strike zone is that space over home plate, the top of which is halfway between the batter’s shoulders and the waistline, and the bottom being the knees, when he assumes his natural batting stance. The height of the strike zone is determined by the batter’s normal batting stance. If he crouches or leans over to make the shoulder line lower, the umpire determines height by what would be the batter’s normal stance.
  25. Vs the demands of JDM, and more accurately, the asking price from Boras. I'm sure he is already crafting his offers from mystery teams...
