  1. Too bad he won’t see this since he has you on ignore (a list I hope I’m on as well). Of course, publicly criticizing the mods is certainly the way to remain in good graces with them. I do hope they don’t ban TYPM; his lectures are unintentionally funny.
  2. He will start no games vs. NY as the Bronx Bombers will start 3 lefties.
  3. Given the struggles he went through over the course of his life, perhaps he finally is at peace. i believe it was Bob Dylan who said something along the lines of “That ear, he’s got to will that to the Smithsonian”.
  4. I agree with both your points, but right now, they seem wedded to sticking to the game plan and no variance allowed. Bello is almost always fastball, fastball then 3 off speed pitches. That actually seems to be a pattern with all pitchers not named Crochet. Varitek the catcher would see what a guy had and adapt the game plan on the fly. That doesn’t seem to be happening now, which is why I think perhaps Bailey won’t allow adjustment as the game goes on.
  5. Probably true. RA can force the issue, but he’s going to have to need 1975 Lynnesque type numbers to do so. And even then …
  6. Signed, Craig Breslow
  7. What does the 9th have to do with a blown save? Blown saves can occur in any inning where a relief pitcher who is not eligible for the win, allows the opposing team to tie a game or take the lead. I don’t believe any of Whitlocks were in the 9th for example. It also can be very misleading. One run game and a pitcher comes in with the bases loaded. Catcher allows a passed ball and the tie run scores. Blown save for the pitcher. Not saying that’s been the case for the Sox though.
  8. Toro has been fine defensively and is contributing on offense. He’s not going to make an all-star team, but he’s been solid. Both Gonzalez and Sogard have shown their middle infielder backgrounds by trying to make plays they shouldn’t; Romy had one last night. First base isn’t difficult, but there are nuances that have to be learned and just throwing someone over there may not yield the results you want.
  9. Also telling that it was the hitter who asked Rice a question, not Rice injecting himself into things.
  10. I just want to say thank you for providing some comedic relief via your recent posts; it’s been a tough go for many of us while the team is struggling.
  11. Buehler isn’t a rookie; he came up in 2017 and spent 7 years with the Dodgers, a team that knows a thing or two about pitching. He can change the game plan on his own.
  12. Devers only made two mistakes here: 1) Asking the front office and 2) Believing anything the front office said. He’s been around long enough to know better.
  13. Classy Yankee fans; they throw every opponents homer back on the field except that one.
  14. What difference would it make; this club is going nowhere.
  15. I’d have made him go back out for the 3rd, 4th and 5th at least.
  16. One of my kids once had a tee shirt that said “I’m right, you’re wrong. Deal with it.” It was cute on the then 3 year old. It would not be as cute now that he’s in his 30s.
  17. Most teams? No. These guys? They aren’t big on management accountability.
  18. My guess is it’s because they would have to admit they were wrong in bringing him up this quickly. The contract extension isn’t helping here.
  19. I don't put too much stock in that differential and its not just errors that matter; it's plays not made such as not turning a DP or throwing to the wrong base, or not hitting the cutoff man (the latter two are more mental errors). Those things also drive up pitch counts, forcing more bullpen use, etc. I really wonder if these guys think ahead about what they are going to do if X, Y or Z happens. There's a great video on youtube where Dwight Evans describes what was going through is head prior to Joe Morgan hitting that shot that he made that staggering catch on in the Fisk game and all the scenarios he ran through.
  20. Going into today, his overall BA was.254 With RISP, it was .298 With a runner or runners on, it was .308 With bases empty, it was .208.
  21. One little thing I saw Rafaela do earlier in the game. On the play where the Angels took the lead in the 8th, his throw to the plate was head high to the cutoff man, keeping the batter at first. It made Criswell's job a whole lot easier to end the inning. Much different than a similar throw last night.
