  1. I’m hard pressed to think of a ball he’s even hit hard this year.
  2. Well, if nothing else, they got out of Wong leading off next inning
  3. Imanaga got a break on the 3-1 pitch to Bregman and took advantage of it. Romy’s AB was the killer.
  4. A "baseball" related Meat Loaf story written shortly after he passed by a a young woman who played high school softball for him: https://deadspin.com/meat-loaf-was-my-softball-coach-5821391/
  5. TYPM will never see this as I’m sure I’m one of the chosen 12, but all I can say is wow. To borrow from Colonel Sherman Potter “TedYazPapiMookie, just a hunch. Will Rogers never met you, did he.”
  6. Pure speculation on my part, but my guess is he was neither a plus nor a minus re. clubhouse culture; he didn’t drag it down and he didn’t add to it either. He was just there. If there were real issues, the press would have been all over it. He seldom sat near anyone on the bench (in the dugout shots we saw, anyway). The happy kid who always had a sort of goofy smile on his face disappeared a couple years ago (when Bogaerts left) and he found out this is a business. I’ve likened him to Yaz in that he is likely very introverted; the lack of reaction by his former teammates probably stems from the fact that none knew him very well. I wish him well in SF and hope he kills it there (except for a certain 3 games a year).
  7. Just catching up; keeping Bregman’s D in the game would be more important at that point. Plus it’s not like they had speedsters on the bench today: Toro, Narvaez or Refsnyder wouldn’t be anyone’s choice as a pr.
  8. A minor plus from today the Sox have clinched the season series against Tampa. which means they now have the playoff tiebreaker over the Rays.
  9. Why would the back-up catcher need to catch during the playoffs other than injury? Yes, it’s a concern, but it’s no where near the top of the list.
  10. TYPM’s real problem is he can’t comprehend a scenario where he could be even slightly incorrect. One need not look any farther than his insane mancrush on Campbell; he’s right in his assessment and the view of all the people who are actually paid to make those judgements/decisions (all the Sox organizational folks plus the baseball coach at Georgia Tech) are idiots for not seeing it TYPM’s way. He’s not here to discuss, he’s here to lecture. He’s both sad and amusing at the same time.
  11. The self-proclaimed “superior baseball mind” does inject some humor into this place.
  12. Cora's now done this 3 times this year,; Sox are 3-0 in those games with Slaten, Weissert and now Hicks getting saves. He's not going to make a habit of it, but obviously unlike a lot of closers, Chapman doesn't object to the practice and can actually do well when called upon.
  13. Pitchers have to be put on the 15 day DL. 10 day IL is for position players only. That being said, it might not be a bad idea; the ASB takes up 4 days of the stint, so 11 games max. He could use the rest.
  14. He was moved to the 60 day IL on June 28; the date of his original 15 day stint was May 29. All of which means he can’t come back before July 28 give or take a day.
  15. 0-10 if you go back to last year. Flipping tails is a very apt description; he hasn't pitched that badly overall. He's had 5 starts where he's allowed no runs, one with 2 runs allowed, a couple with 3 runs allowed, one with 4 and one with 6. When he's left with a lead, the pen has blown it. They don't score for him. In those 10 games, the Sox offense has scored 2, 4, 2, 1, 2, 2, 2, 1, 6, and 2 runs.
  16. All those ex-players with deferred money get paid today. I know it's not strictly Red Sox related, but more eyes will see it here.
  17. To be fair, he should have fouled out to 3rd. It almost looked like he just took it to end the inning.
  18. Crochet unaffected by the 25 minute bottom of the first.
  19. Burns had to be tipping. No way you go up there against a guy throwing 100 and look off speed first pitch multiple times.
  20. Do we see Chapman in the 9th just so he can get some work in?
  21. Surprisingly, according to Baseball Reference, there’s never been a major league player named Kluger. Edit - I wish this place had a delete option for duplicate posts.

  23. Hey. at least he hit it hard; how many times this season have we watched a slow trudge back to the dugout or a pop up in that situation.
