  1. What deal? They claimed him off waivers. They’re responsible for a little under 25% of his contract for this year. No deal to be had at this point.
  2. You might do it the last week of the season if it came to that, but not before then.
  3. How many did he throw Friday night (the walkoff win)? He has seldom if ever been used 3 straight days this season.
  4. Which is totally legit. But it has nothing to do with whether Chapman was available or not.
  5. Maybe Chapman said he’s not available today. He certainly didn’t get his normal warm up routine/time yesterday. We sometimes have to accept that Cora knows who is available and who isn’t. We don’t have that info.
  6. First time reading one of his novels? Same plot over and over. He has an insane man crush on Campbell, an intense dislike for anyone he perceives is blocking Campbell’s greatness as a shortstop, a pathological hatred of Cora and if you disagree with him, you are stupid and know nothing about baseball. Most of us have simply stopped responding to him. I think he has half the board blocked.
  7. Yeah, the Brewers have gotten a great 4 months from Priester. Would he have done that in Boston or is he more suited to a smaller market? Will he keep it up for years to come? The truth is we don’t know who “won” the trade and won’t for maybe 5 or 6 years. Everyone involved is too young to evaluate.
  8. I love the “next time you don't agree with me, don't comment to me because I have absolutely no interest in your opinions” A lot of truth in the last 8 words. As I’ve said before, he’s not here to discuss, he’s here to lecture.
  9. Crochet wasn’t sharp, but the way the Astros were on everything in the 3rd and 4th, one has to wonder if he was tipping somehow. Have to be a little concerned about the drop in velocity after the 2nd as well
  10. Narvaez must need some more time with the knee but maybe not a full 10 days. They also have to do something with Sanchez since he has no options. Hamilton is no loss and it wouldn’t surprise me if that pathetic bunting display Saturday didn’t factor into his demotion. Gonzalez and Rafaela can handle second and Wong is capable of playing 1st and 2nd if it came down to it. More than likely Wong is sent down when Narvaez is ready for regular duty.
  11. One thing I noticed about the Padres this series; they put the ball in play. They don’t swing at pitches that never look like strikes and they foul off 2 strike pitches. You may strike them out eventually, but you will need 7-8 pitches to do it. Put the ball in play and good things can happen. SD has several hits today that weren’t hit very hard but by getting the bat on the ball …
  12. He’s had a poor season, but he’s had a few really good outings sprinkled in there. Today was one of those.
  13. Had a good swing at the first one but hooked it foul. Then he swung at everything; pretty sure only one was a strike.
  14. That’s an adjustment he needs to make. That AB he’s up 2-0. Wisely lets a perfect pitch low and way go. The 2-1 pitch should have hammered. He’s going to have to swing at the first good strike at some point just to change the pitcher’s approach. Get me over fastballs need to be hit. He doesn’t have to do it all the time, but he has to do it sometimes.
  15. I don’t see how these guys can lay off pitches that close.
  16. Cease is nasty today. Looking at his game logs, he’s either been very good or very bad; unfortunately for the Sox, today is one of the former. Better get him this inning, because that Padre bullpen looms in the 6th.
  17. True, but do you seriously think if he’d had him swing away, it would have made any difference?
  18. Not sure what that means; steal was the play there and the Padres made a play (major league players sometimes do that); Bogaerts got away with pushing him off. The bunts were the right call but Hamilton was too stupid to know what the word sacrifice means.
  19. I’m not going to blame him on the steal; Bogaerts got away with a veteran trick. There was no excuse for the bunts. It was utter stupidity to try to bunt for a base hit (3 times).
