  1. I'm more concerned about the leak about Bregman opting out. The timing was horrible. Why then? The leak smacks of Boras thinking he's got the Sox over a barrel and maybe I can force a longer term deal. I just don't see Bregman leaking the plans, even if it's that's what he wants to do. If he did, then he's not the team first guy he purports to be and maybe he should move on. I don't think the market is going to be what they think it is.
  2. Wasn’t a bad pitch; could have been a bit closer to the outside corner but it wasn’t a cookie.
  3. Not sure who we are down to pitching wise. They’ve used Wilson, Matz, Whitlock and Chapman.
  4. A’s seem to have no fear of Chapman; looks like the just try to put the ball in play off him both last week and tonight. Worked last week and nearly again tonight.
  5. Wilson is a really good hitter. Hope he catches Judge for the batting title.
  6. Amazing what can happen when you do that. Bregman didn’t deliver a hit, but at least it was a reasonably hard hit ball, beats the hell out of a K or pop out.
  7. 6th inning is too early. Lowe is likely to get one more PA. Do you really want that AB to go to Hamilton (or Sogard as a ph)?
  8. That mighty cleanup bat has driven in 2 of the runs tonight by putting the ball in play.
  9. He’s had that explained to him by multiple posters countless times. like most things told to him, it doesn’t sink in.
  10. Disagree on Tolle. If he doesn't develop a second pitch, he has no future in MLB period. Major League hitters will destroy him. If he only develops a competent second pitch, he's a middle reliever at best. He's a long way from being a major league starter right now and will need another year if not 2 in the minors. Early didn't have overpowering stuff as a kid and thus learned early (no pun intended) how to use pitch selection and control to set hitters up. Once he put on some weight, his fastball increased, but he still knows how to pitch. His ceiling is probably a #3 because he doesn't have a devastating first pitch, but he can be very successful.
  11. Probably (I’m not going back to look), but then you don’t use 20-20 hindsight on everything. So if you didn’t like it or predicted it at the time, I’ll believe you.
  12. As often as you advocate getting rid of players, we’d be seeing a heavy dose of Florida Complex League guys on the Fenway field now.
  13. I don’t think that’s deserving of a downvote, but it does merit a BOOOOOO
  14. Batting average? Really? Yankees lead the majors in runs scored (770) and homers 252) by wide margins. That’s how they win games.
  15. He’d already uncorked a couple wild pitches. Ump couldn’t have said anything.😀
  16. Agree. Nobody could have kept up the success he was having.
  17. Nah. The results could end up similar, but 2011 was a complete collapse by a decent pitching staff. There was more than enough offense that year. The pitching this month for the most part has been okay. Not as good as it was a month ago, but okay. Most of the time, it’s given the team a chance. Hitting has been the issue this month and realistically, all year.
