  1. Uh oh, Rodon has the Sox exactly where he wants them. Sacks juiced and no outs.
  2. Sox pounded him twice in June. He completely shut the Sox down in August. He’s been really good since the start of August and in his last 10 starts, he’s given up 3 runs once and 1-2 runs every other time. When he’s on, he among the best in the game.
  3. Can’t go nuts though. This is not an elimination game and you have a rookie with all of 4 MLB starts going tomorrow.
  4. Unfortunately, good Rodon appears to have shown up tonight.
  5. Rice has been a PITA against the Sox since he came up. Bad pitch by Bello and he didn’t miss it.
  6. I was just about to type a very similar post. Keeping Rice out of the game was huge; he has killed us since he came up. Rice will be in the lineup against Bello.
  7. Sort of. 5 2/3 IP, 1 H, 2R, 5 BB, 3K. He has been pitching very well the since August 1. That day, he allowed 4 runs to Miami. Since then, in 10 starts, he's allowed 3 runs once and 1 or 2 in the other 9 while consistently going 6-7 innings each time out, Of course, Fried was on a hot streak too and he continued that tonight. He threw a real good game. Tomorrow really will depend on what version of Bello shows up.
  8. Might be helpful to get guys on with less than 2 outs.
  9. So let me get this straight. Crochet’s at 81 pitches through 5 and it’s a problem (which it is). Fried’s at 79 through 5 and nary a mention of it.
  10. Like I said, it’s an organizational thing, deeper than Fatse. Remember spring training when some young hitter asked Jim Rice some questions, which was overheard by some young analyst? Said analyst then told Jim that it didn’t fit with the organization’s approach and not to talk to any players.
  11. I hadn’t realized he struck out almost as much as Story this year. That’s not a positive in a leadoff hitter.
  12. They need an organizational rethink about hitting and get away from the Driveline BS. Notice how the Yankees are fouling off pitches with 2 strikes? Crochet eventually gets them, but they force him to throw 2-3 extra pitches each time. It adds up.
  13. A check swing double Karl? If that had been a Yankee hitter they’d be talking about what good hitting that was.
  14. Neither could the announcers; you could hear the disappointment.
  15. Hope do, because right now he’s got 4 pitches going.
  16. No. You’ve never seen/heard this on any Sunday night game? The only guy worse is Costas.
  17. They’re doing a lousy job of it, or maybe the Tigers were just wanted #6 more. As I said somewhere else, neither team took this game all that seriously. No frontline pitchers were ever going to be used and multiple regulars on both sides were going to sit.
  18. So you would have used Giolito since it’s his turn, thereby burning him for the wild card series? That would be a good look, but an eminently stupid thing to do. Who would you have pitched today?
  19. Don’t like it. Trevor implied he was tired postgame last week; he’s played ~156 games so it’s not like he’s dogged it all year. I’d rather see him stay off the field. Such is life in the days of 4 man benches (5 in September). Can’t sit everyone.
  20. Is Story in the field or DHing? The latter is the only place I play him today.
  21. Who do you propose to use instead? Harrison pitched Friday. Early pitched yesterday. Tolle is now a reliever. Even a bullpen game isn’t a great idea. Neither team is taking this game all that seriously.
