    Listening to the game, sounds like the Sox have hit several balls hard but right at people. OTOH, without the sun messing with Wilkerson, they’d likely be shut out until now.

    So what else is news, especially lately. Sox have had problems with a lot of those type guys this year; O’s Friday night starter comes to mind.

    Pats struggles had little to do with the Bills QB; the D pretty much shut both the starter and the backup down. Brady & company has a very tough day with the Bills D.

    You can call it, but a) not all the time on an 0-2 pitch (which Vac does all the time) and don’t stand so high. When Leon does it, he shifts slightly higher but he doesn’t stand up. Also, no law says the target has to be the glove. Throw at the mask or the catchers helmet.

    But according to the OP, Workman is part of the problem since he walks so many. Unlike the rest of them, he at least seems able to work around them a vast majority of the time.

    Rule #1 - NEVER read Shaughnessy. He’s been miserable since late October 2004. He is utterly unable to find the good in anything. I have no problem reporting/writing about something in a negative way if it’s legit negative. He goes and invents negative stuff.

    No, mediocre, which may be worse. As you said earlier, it’s one of those years. They never had a prolonged streak of playing good baseball.

    Ding ding ding. We have a winner. And if you want to talk top 1% of wage earners, every player making the major league minimum is in that. (That level kicks in at around $421K).

    They were on their 11th reliever, so yeah, I’d say they ran out.

    Definitely another era. I see he did that in 10 years with the Cubs. He added another 90 in 6 years with the Rangers and 23 in 2 years with the Sox.

    That’s one way of viewing it, and if you want go over several years, sure. For an individual year, no. Are you really going to say that the best division in baseball in 2006 was the NL Central because the Cards won the a World Series after an 86 win season?

    For what it’s worth (as of this moment): AL West has 176 wins against the East and Central AL East has 164 wins against the Central and the West AL Central has 147 wins against the East and West I did not include inter league games because the teams aren’t playing the same slate. Have to give it to the West this year. There is also no equivalent of the Tigers, Royals and Orioles in the West.

    Walks, walks, walks. Bullpen walked 5 guys, 4 of them scored and the 5th was on base on the game winning hit. As I said earlier, it sums up the season.

    Cash might have; he overmanages IMO, but in his case, he has the bullpen to back it up.

    Only thing I’ll say is he needs to find out what DHern can do in game pressure situations. Overall, the results have not been great this year for Darwinzon in that regard. Obviously the move didn’t work, but those screaming for see what the kids can do should be happy.

    Noted, and I agreed with your thought, especially at 87 pitches. I’m listening on XM Radio outside Yellowstone NP. I’m refraining from posting reactions to the game due to the time delay on the broadcast, which can be 3-4 minutes based on experience.

    Mal, when you do decide it’s time to hang it up, know that you will be greatly missed. Thank you for your contributions here but beyond that, know that your contributions to this country over the course of a long life can never be repaid.
