  1. Horrible pitch by Walden. I’m afraid midnight has struck for Walden and he has reverted to a pumpkin.
  2. There’s a reason I have him blocked. It improves my reading of this board immeasurably.
  3. You’ll notice that since ERod settled down the last couple innings, he has disappeared. It’s his MO.
  4. At least that one was hit hard, even if it was an at ‘em ball. Overall, though, way too much weak contact for Mook this year.
  5. Lionbush had several posts about this yesterday. Here’s one: https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/19361-6-29-New-York-and-Boston-in-London-1-10-pm?p=1258533&viewfull=1#post1258533
  6. There was a guy in yesterday’s thread who lives in the UK who said the atmospherics are not the same in Britain and affect the spin on balls differently than here in the States. The spin bowlers in cricket might have trouble in the US.
  7. I wouldn’t waste the pen; if Porcello gives up 20 so be it.
  8. Radio broadcast is ripping Porcello; they aren’t mincing words on either Chavis’ mishap or Porcello’s pitching.
  9. Porcello can stay out there and take the beating.
  10. There’s no way they would use British umpires for this series - the game would be far too fast for them. MLB will send a regular crew. EDIT - Just saw that the Saturday game will have Ed Hickox behind the plate, with Carlos Torres, Dana DeMuth and everyone’s favorite, Angel Hernandez, first to third with the normal totation for Sunday. Since you bet on just about anything over there, I wonder if there’s an over/under on how many calls Hernandez will screw up? Tougher to place s number when he’ll be at 3rd and then 2nd.
  11. Danny, your posts reminded me of this: https://www.julienslive.com/images/lot/1272/127247_0.jpg Maybe it should be awarded to some people on this site
  12. The frustration is that he’s not suited to the role; never has been. He strikes out a lot of guys because he can throw hard, but his fastball is straight and the best hitters will get to it at some point. Like any pitcher though, he needs a second pitch that at least looks like a strike long enough for a hitter to chase it.
  13. Now to be fair though, Tyler messed up. You did it on purpose. Now back to the crucifixion of Barnes.
  14. And after you made such a big deal about it the other day.
  15. I think I figured it out. Barnes watched Kimbrel in the postseason last year and thought that was the way you were supposed to close games.
  16. Okay, then you are to blame for “blatantly flouting the long standing Game Thread starting etiquette”. Either way you are guilty counselor.
  17. I blame the loss on a700 messing with Tyler’s mojo.
  18. No, I appreciate a great AB or play even if it’s by another team. Barnes messed up with the first 2 hitters. That’s what killed him. He threw some great pitches to Abreu and Abreu showed why he’s one of the best hitters in the game by fighting them off. Didn’t see d-money’s reply because he’s such nattering nabob of negativism that he usually is on ignore; I find it’s just better not to see his drivel. He disappears completely when things go well.
  19. Yep. Barnes made 5-6 great pitches in that AB that Abreu fouled off until he got the one mistake. More hitters should learn to do that instead of swinging for the downs every time.
  20. Barnes threw a lot of pitches that would have gotten lesser hitters out. Just a hell of an AB by Abreu.
  21. That’s why he makes $9M a year and you post here.
