  1. I wouldn’t count on a beat down of Means. He’s been extremely good at Camden Yards this season as witnessed by his 1.57 ERA, .903 WHIP and a .180 BA allowed at home. Now that doesn’t mean he won’t have a game like David Price did the other day but the odds are against it.
  2. Like all teams, they have a few bona fide major leaguers. Mancini is an all-star, Means could be as well. Severino and Alberto have some potential to have decent careers and Villar could help a lot of teams. These latter 3 aren’t going to lead a team but they would be nice pieces. The rest of the team not so much, and only one of them is a pitcher.
  3. Cora needs to tell ERod that he’s going 6 tonight, whether he gives up 1 run or 15. His choice which. Of course, that assumes any message Cora might relay would get through that thick head of Rodriguez.
  4. It was a 2 run jack. Of course, we’ve seen so few non-solo homers this year the confusion is quite understandable.
  5. Brian Johnson up (may start Sunday); Travis optioned back to Pawtucket.
  6. Were those the games Means pitched? He at least gives them a chance on those days.
  7. Tomorrow, lessons on the number i.
  8. Goalies are like pitchers; when they are on, there is not a lot the opponent can do. As I wrote on the hockey thread last night, I knew the B’s were in trouble when Marchand had a wide open net, nailed an 80 mph shot, Binnington whiffed with his arm and the puck ended up in the loose fold of his jersey. That goes in like it does 99 times out of 100 and it’s a different game.
  9. Yeah, but it may have delayed it enough for someone else to get back.
  10. I knew they were in big trouble when Binnington stopped that Marchand shot in the first. Wide open net, Marchand nails it, Binnington actually whiffs on it but it ends up in the loose folds of his shirt. That goes in 99 times out of 100.
  11. Binnington is doing what Rask did in Game 6. Utterly stupid play by Marchand.
  12. Blues goalie looks sharp; so far looks a lot like Game 5.
  13. Well maybe the ball will hit Chavis’ bat and we can tune into the Bruins happy.
  14. So do I. Unless Nunez has some ridiculous numbers against Chavez?
  15. Who are you giving up?
  16. And has looked awful all 4 times up.
  17. Yeah there would have, because DeShields was bunting for a hit. He got a break from the scorer in getting a sac.
  18. Not the BPs fault. Workman should be in the dugout.
  19. To be fair, this one’s on the fielders. The sac fly ends the inning if Vazquez makes a decent throw.
  20. 2 was a really good curve for strike 1. That’s a good take. One of 3 and 5 needed to be hit.
  21. Manage it home here folks. Assuming no big Sox offensive explosion, I bring Workman back for the 8th and Hembree for the 9th.
  22. So what does Odor getting on and Cora bringing in Work do to you?
  23. Probably too many pitches for that. He’s nearing 90 which probably means one more inning.
  24. Tale of sides of the plate for Lynn today: Righties are 1-12 with Chavis’ 55 footer bring the only hit. The lefties are 5-8 with a walk including 2 doubles and a pair of triples. EDIT- numbers through 5 innings
