    5 runs should be enough to win a game. The double off Robles should have been caught. Xander should have caught that liner. It’s cost 3 runs.

    Obvious obstruction on Munoz between 2nd and 3rd. Looked like the Guardians runner ran into him on purpose but that doesn’t matter. It’s why they tried to score him in the first place. Why Munoz would be on that side if second makes no sense. Davis also could have been called at 3rd.

    The 3.5/5 is this year. Devers is at 10.8 for his career while Ramirez is 32.4. Ramirez is a helluva player who isn’t better known because he’s spent his entire career in Cleveland. This is his 9th year, and he’s finished 2nd in the MVP voting once and 3rd twice and a 3 time all-star (the Guardians have been pretty good the past several years so it’s not like he was the mandatory selection every time).

    Nah. Cora was telling the kid he had confidence in him. Major league pitchers are going to give up homers to major league hitters. Houck didn’t reward that confidence by hitting the next 2, but I had no problem leaving him in at that point.

    On the one hand, it ends up being a not so great line score for Houck, but he wasn’t exactly sharp and was lucky the Tribe didn’t get him earlier.

    I remember listening to a game from the west coast, probably 1974 or 1975 between Ryan and Luis Tiant. The Angels won it in 15. Tiant went the distance in the loss; Ryan wimped out after only 13. IIRC, Ryan struck out 19 Sox that night while walking a ton as well. I think Cecil Cooper set or tied a record by striking out 6 times.

    Which would apply if it were February or November. EDT during the baseball season. Back to the game. 20 pitch first inning does not bode well for a long Houck outing, which is badly needed.

    2+ states really, since I’m on the Iowa border. I was looking at the weather app I have which can be set for any city in the country. However, since you’re in that area, I’ll accede to your local knowledge and observations.

    In looking at the Cleveland radar, there’s a line of strong t-storms passing over Lorrain right now headed east. Lorraine is about 30 miles west of Cleveland. That might be what they are waiting on. They probably don’t want to have to start and then stop. Of course, it could slide south of the stadium and all this would have been for nothing. The more concerning thing is the line expected in about 7:30 in that area.
