  1. Early in the game, they flashed a stat that the Sox have scored 81% of their postseason runs on homers; that is not sustainable. We’ve seen this movie all season.
  2. Ground ball to normal shortstop would have done it.
  3. The worst umps also seem to have the quickest trigger. You can’t give a guy a reason to toss you. Walk away muttering if you have to, but complaining to his face is an invitation to an ejection.
  4. There’s a reason I have him on ignore.
  5. CB Bucknor on line 1. Joe West on line 2. Although West can be a good ump when he decides to be. He just doesn’t decide to be very often.
  6. Went back to a similar call in his first AB.
  7. He’s going to cool off at some point. No one can keep up the pace he’s been on. Just need someone else (or better , a couple of people) to pick up some of the slack.
  8. Pivetta not sharp. Astros seem to be stepping out a lot. Could that be affecting Nick?
  9. Does Dalbec have enough vertical to snag that one? On second look, probably not.
  10. #3 hitter hits a cheap Fenway homer. Cue the panic posts. One run ain’t gonna win this folks.
  11. Agreed, plus he’s never pitched particularly well in or against Boston. Of course, you never know what Pivetta will bring in a given game either. The Astros could bring back Valdez on short rest (ala ERod against Tampa) since he had a very short outing last time.
  12. Soft tosser. Just the sort of guy who can give the Sox fits. OTOH, he’s hardly pitched at all since the end of August (11 2/3 innings), so how sharp will he be?
  13. Molina filed lawsuits but Wichita State had the courts wrapped around their little fingers. There was an out of court settlement reached but no details were ever officially released. Rumors were that Molina received $400K. (Molina is/was from the town I live in so it got quite a lot of play here). Yep, truly tragic. But at least that took place in actual game action and Hamilton didn’t do it intentionally. The Molina-Christendom incident happened while Christenson was warming up before an inning and he felt justified in doing it.
  14. I remember that. Anthony Molina was playing for Evansville (?) when he was thrown at for trying to time pitches as the pitcher was warming up. The pitcher was one of the best in the college ranks IIRC, but his name escapes me.
  15. What happens if KikeVaz is on base when KikeKike comes up?
  16. One thing all of these budgets can’t forecast is what the tax line will be next year. The new CBA could set it lower and/or adjust the tax levels. I do hope they set a salary floor.
  17. Russ Gibson and Mike Ryan splitting time behind the plate?
  18. Another rainout in Chicago would be nice, but the forecast for tomorrow is pretty good.
  19. I think he would have gone anyway; they weren’t going to throw through.
  20. I agree. Devers is a threat to hit it a long way but he also hits the ball hard which puts the DP in order. Plus Hernandez is hot as can be. Analytics must have said pitch to KH. They were wrong.
  21. No MVP in the Division Series, but Hernandez would win it if there were.
  22. Shaw took second on defensive indifference on the first pitch.
  23. I know. They didn’t want to face Devers I guess, but Feyerheisen throws very hard; high fastballs still would have given him some trouble.
  24. I know. I just have a problem with those who say what they would have done after the fact.
