  1. He sucked in 2023. He sucked in ST'ing. He sucks, now.
  2. I'm not sure anyone thinks he can get much better.
  3. Woo lost 10-6. RGon went 2-4 Hickey 2-5 Our old friend Jacques saw his ERA go to 27.00 (3 BB, 1 H in 1.1 IP) Cut this guy!!!
  4. No Story, Yoshida or McGuire. (McGuire must have been heating up too much for Cora- LOL. Actually, he needed a rest.) 1. Duran LF 2. Reyes SS 3. Devers 3B 4. O"Neill RF 5. Dalbec DH 6. Casas 1B 7. Rafaela CF 8. Wong C 9. Valdez 2B Whitlock vs the LHP Detmers
  5. Our OF is covered, even without counting on Yoshida or Ref for much more than spot starts (Yoshi) or a platoon (Ref.) 1B and 3B have horrible depth (Dalbec) Middle IF would be okay, if Grissom was healthy (Reyes, Valdez,) but he's not. Catcher looks okay, but beyond the 2 (McGuire & Wong) it gets sketchy. All in all, I agree: we are not deep with ML ready farm depth, and Dalbec looks like a mess.
  6. Indeed. Valdez, our RBI leader, goes to AAA the second Grissom is activated.
  7. Yes. That choice over Romy playing FT looks most likely.
  8. True. He is still really good, but he's not the guy from long ago. His WHIPM has been over his career average, every year since 2018, but it is still has been very good : 1.077 (2018-2024) 11.2 K/9 3.2 BB/9 2018-2024: 350 qualifying RP'ers 11th in RP fWAR (6.2) 38th K% (30.4%) but 156th in BB% (8.7%) 32nd in K-BB% (21.6%) 65th K/9 (3.48) 64th ERA- (75) 110th in xFIP (3.88)
  9. Joh Garcia went 3-4 w Salem (1.800 OPS in tiny sample size.)
  10. Agreed. We also have to remember, he missed most of ST'ing, so maybe he settles down as we move forward. Our pen has not been praised as much as it should be. Joely is the only one to have bad numbers, but he had a really bad first game and has not been that bad, afterwards. Our pen has a .491 OPS Against, and it's interesting to note that our best 2 RP'ers have not been in top form. Jansen has half our pen's BBs (5 out of 10!) Martin has the second worst OPSA (to Joely) at .652, after leading the team in this category in 2023. Jansen & Wink have 8 of our 10 BBs. The rest have 2 BBs in 84 PAs! I really think the improved defense has helped these numbers and the confidence/morale of the staff, but Brez & Bailey deserve some props, too.
  11. Agreed. The bigger question might be about Rafaela at SS and Duran in CF.
  12. Our pitching staff has an OPS Against of just .510! That is pretty amazing, despite the small sample size. We have only 2 pitchers with an OPSA of over .652: .836 Bello (42 PAs Against) .896 Joely (14 PAs) Our leaders: .167 Slaten (12) .200 Anderson (10) .294 Jansen (17- no hits/ 4BBs) .333 Houck (21) .346 Crawford (42) .357 Campbell (14) .432 Weissert (12) .433 Whitlock (19) .520 Pivetta (41) .620 Wink (24) .652 Martin (22) Led the team, last year at .566 2023 Leaders: .566 Martin (199) .669 Crawford (527) .685 Pivetta (587) .693 Jansen (188) .708 Bernardino (216) .709 Sale (425) .729 Wink (367) Last night saw a few too many BBs, but we still have a nice K:BB ratio of 64:13 (4.9 to 1) K leaders w BBs 12:4 Crawford 10:0 Houck 8:0 Whitlock 6:1 Bello 5:0 Martin 4:4 Jansen 4:1 Weissert 3:0 Anderson & Campbell 1:0 Slaten 0:1 Joely Take away Jansen and Joely and the ratio is 60:8 or 7.5 to 1. We have just 1 SB against us. (Our O has 9.) Remember the big worry about facing LHBs? "We need a LH'd RP'er!" .570 OPSA v RHBs .442 OPSA v LHBs (.857 v Joely/ .419 v all our RHPs) Here is an interesting stat: .537 OPSA in wins .520 OPSA in losses This might surprise you: .524 OPSA SP .491 OPSA RP For Bell: CERA 0.97 McGuire (46 innings) 2.67 Wong (27 Innings)
  13. 5% of the season played, and we are in 1st place. Only the Tigers have a better AL record at 6-1. (The Brewers are 5-1 in the NL.) It's way to early to start getting giddy, but there is a nice feeling about being in first place, knowing we just about have the west coast trip behind us. Last night's win jumped our team OPS to .720. Those dingers really help with that. Updated OPS Numbers: 1.490 O'Neill (Kaboom!) .944 Duran (White hit. 6 SBs, too.) .876 McGuire (I had a feeling our catchers would hit better in '24) .733 Devers (Not to bad for batting one-armed) .710 Casas (Let's hope last night was a sign.) .667 Wong (McGuire is the FT catcher, now.) .623 Yoshida (Gotta lead the league in groundouts to 2B.) .617 Story (Say your prayers.) .587 Rafaela (Can his D sustain an OPS this low?) .516 Reyes (May be playing more, now.) .428 Valdez (For a DH only type player, not a good start, but he leads the team in rbi) .421 Abreu .00 Dalbec (6 PAs)
  14. E Valdez is proving he's a DH only player. The problem is, we have a DH only guy, already, and he's making $90M. I'm really hoping Story is not out for long. His defense is not easily matched. He was even starting to heat up, hitting 1.007 in the 4 games, before last night. (4 RBI, too.)
  15. Just finished watching the rest of the game, this morning. WOW! What a game. The D really let us down, but we picked it up and atoned. Keep the streak going, guys! One day at a time.
  16. Yanks lost today. Take a look at their O: Oswaldo Cabrera is at 1.008 and Volpe is at 1.154. Soto has pulled his weight and more: .819, but look at the rest: (In order by most ABs) .574 Torres .572 Rizzo .630 Judge .536 Verdugo .452 Stanton (Less than 15 ABs) .547 Wells .237 Berti .200 Grisham .000 Jones Yankee Rotation: 0.00 Stroman (12 IP) 6.30 Cortes (10) 2.79 Rodon (9.2) 5.06 Schmidt (5.1) 1.93 L Gil (4.20
  17. He has also passed every PED test. BTW, where is that TON basher, anyway?
  18. I'm so tired of the ground outs to 2B, this actually doesn't bother me as much as it should.
  19. Line UP 1. Duran LF 2. Devers 3B 3. Story SS 4. Yoshida DH 5. O'Neill RF 6. Casas 1B 7. Valdez 2B 8. Rafaela CF 9. McGuire C
  20. Woo won game one 9-7. They were walked 8 times! RGonz went 2-3 w a 3B and HR (1.414 OPS) Nobody else had 2 hits or an XBH. Fitts went 4.1 w 6 hits, 0 ER, 2BB, 3K Gambrell was lit up in game 2. (4IP, 8H, 5ER, 1BB, 2K,) and the Sox are down 5-0 after 3.5 innings. POR was snowed out. GRE is down 3-2 through 5. (Perales 1 IP, 3H, 3ER, 2BB, 3K) SAL tied 2-2 in 3. Bleis w 2 rbi.
