  1. I would not give Cespeded, alone, for 1 year of Burnes. Burnes w extension, yes. They might have demanded Crawford & Rafaela or Crawford and Yorke.
  2. Our 5 and 6 guys are Rafaela and Cespedes. Would anyone have liked that trade?
  3. I was really excited about watching his defense, this year. I also felt his hitting would improve to the plus side, over the season. This sucks for us fans, but it must be killing him, inside.
  4. I'm not so sure the 236 PAs in MLB by Grissom has "proved" he can hit well enough to be a plus, but that part of his game does look promising. His OPS+ in 2023 was 78, so maybe he needs to adjust to the adjustment pitchers made with him after 2022. E Valdez has actually had LESS opportunity than Grissom, in the bigs. (187 PAs and an 83 OPS+) I think we can safely bet on Grissom being the better defender. The hitting aspect might need to be determined on who will be better. I like Grissom, but his sample size is too small to know anything, for sure- same with Valdez.
  5. I seriously doubt the projected fWAR for Iggy, Simmons and DHam?Reyes would be very far apart.
  6. I was more than fine with that idea, but it's easier said than done.
  7. BAL had a better farm. I would not have given up a top 5 and then a 6-9 prospect for 1 year of Burnes, especially since 2024 looks like a punt season.
  8. That was Kirby. I'm not for bringing in old vets who were great on D 2-3 years ago. The majors are loaded with no hit-good glove back-up SSs, at a low cost. Mayer could probably hit as well as Simmons and Iggy, and is probably as good a defender, given their ages and lack of work at SS, recently.
  9. I think Grissom will be fine at 2B. It might take until 2025 to realize it, but I have a lot of confidence in him. He should be average or better on D and a plus on O, soon. At SS, he would need to show he is better than he looked in his SSS MLB career, to date. (Better than DHam/Reyes might not be a very high bar.)
  10. Our best 26 and younger pitchers might be (upside potential, included): 25 Bello 26 Winckowski 24 Fitts 23 Sandlin 26 Slaten 21 Perales 22 Wikelman 23 Guerrero 20 E R-C 22 Bastardo 24 Dobbins (I did not include any far away, recently-acquired pitchers.)
  11. Our SP'ers are looking a bit more human, of late. They started out walking next to nobody, and now it's 2-3 a start, but te runs allowed has stayed very low. The pen has been doing rather well. Perhaps, that's smoke & mirrors, but I like what I've seen from some of the newbies: OPS Against (PA: K:BB) .111 Slaten (18: 6:0) .458 Campbell (18: 4:1) .465 Weissert (18: 5:2) .598 Anderson ((24: 4:1) Perhaps the biggest surprise, so far. Back again: .294 Jansen (17: 6:5, no hits allowed) .652 Martin (22: 7:0) Was our leader, last season in OPSA. We've had a very solid top 6 in our pen. Wink (.872) and Joely (.732) have struggled (59: 16:5 combined.) Our SP'ers: .346 Crawford (42: 12:4) .437 Houck (45: 17:2) .520 Pivetta (41: 13:1) On IL. .543 Whitlock (39: 12:4) .736 B Bello (65: 11:3) Only SP'er w 3 GS.
  12. LHP Irvin vs Crawford Gotta win these divisional games. Let's start tonight!
  13. I wish he was on the Sox.
  14. Anthony 2-5 w 2 DBLs Mayer 2-3, BB Teel 2-4, BB, w DBL & 3 RBI Yorke 3-5 w DBL Wikelman walked 5 in 2 IP, while letting up 3 ERs.
  15. You are assuming 11 games predict the future and checks all the boxes over the 2023 rotation that included all of this year's starters. Bello, Crawford & Houck led the '23 rotation in starts. Pivetta & Whitlock were 6th and 7th in GS. To me, it is fine saying our pitching has been our strength, this year, but that does mean it is, right now, or will be going forward, especially without our current #2 ERA starter (Pivetta at 0.82.)
  16. You mean the guy they moved to 2B, after signing Bogey?
  17. He also had a plus UZR/150 and DRS with LAD in CF.
  18. I guess we should have drafted even more SSs, in the past.
  19. All that matters is JH saved a few bucks.
  20. He was just starting to heat up.
  21. MLBTR reports... Pivetta’s flexor strain is mild, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow tells reporters (including Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe). The right-hander could come off the IL as soon he is eligible, barring any setbacks.
  22. 239 PAs scattered over 3 seasons is not really all that telling, but we should not expect anything great, for sure. .853 in AAA (229 PAs) .856 in AA (344)
  23. Now, we can't include Pivetta in this summer's fire sale.
  24. While watching the enormous breaks on his pitches, his last game, I thought, that muct be putting a big strain on his arm.
  25. Isn't one of the unearned runs the ghost runner scoring in SEA without any errors being made?
