  1. Here is an amazing stat: Team ERA- (Look at the difference between 1st and 2nd) 67 BOS 80 LAD 81 NYY, PHI 84 KCR 85 ATL Our SP'ers have a 59 ERA- (PHI second at 66, KCR 3rd at 78.) Some more bunched numbers FIP- 81 PHI 84 WSH 87 BOS 92 CLE, DET, MIN 93 SEA, BAL 94 KCR WHIP 1.07 SEA 1.10 LAD 1.11 BOS, BAL 1.15 DET 1.16 PHI
  2. I'd rather have O'Neill on D in LF than Duran. Rafaela in CF is the boost. Romy at SS is fine.
  3. I really thought our defense was going to significantly improve, this year, but then Story and Grissom went down. Grissom is back and Rafaela/Romy have done fine at SS on D. The pitching has been shockingly good, when you look at all the injuries. I felt the O would be about 10th in MLB, despite the loss of JT. I figured O'Neill & Abreu would improve on Dugo enough to make up for part of JT's loss. I hoped Story and Grissom's improvement over last year's joke on O with our keystone combination, that we'd e at least even with 2023. The drop in league offense might mean we are not as bad as we look, comparatively, but here are some numbers: 15th in Runs (I know some want to point to the 17 run game as skewing the numbers, but take away a few runs from that and we'd still be around 16-18th.) 17th wRC+ (3 from 14th) 12th in OPS at .714 (.10th place is just .715) 11th in OBP (.317) 10th in SLG (.398) I'd say, overall, we are around average. Some more timely hitting and we can rise in the runs rankings.
  4. MLB's top 18 prospects (updated): only 2 are pitchers. (10 of the next 38 are pitchers.)
  5. Speaking of drafting under slot players to try and cash in later, how does getting Anthony that way, look? Maybe Anthony & Zanetello will work out well.
  6. That's a decent defensive team.
  7. Nope, and no Japanese team will offer nearly what he's getting with the Sox.
  8. Speaking of splits: Sox vs RHPs 1.215 Refsnyder .951 Wong .947 Devers .929 Abreu .855 O'Neill .807 Casas .758 Duran .707 McGuire .582 Rafaela .297 Smith .289 Cooper .222 Grissom vs LHP 1.500 Smith (2 PA) 1.106 O'Neill 1.000 McGuire (7) .994 Casas .921 Wong .909 Cooper .751 Devers .732 Refsnyder .690 Rafaela .619 Romy .616 Yoshida .472 Abreu .455 Grissom .768 Yoshida
  9. If he retired, he'd save the Sox some money... not that they'd spend it elsewhere.
  10. MLB.com's updated top prospects list: 12. Mayer 18. Anthony 31. Teel BAL has 1, 14, 21, 23 TBR has 3, 17, 47, 87 NYY 32, 70, 76, 89 TOR 40, 71
  11. True. It's dead, right now, but yes, not for the full season. Same with Whitlock, Hendriks and maybe someone comes back earlier than expected.

  13. The $82M might be low. $65M IL + $17M Sale= 82M Then add... 4.2 Turner 2.0 Joely .74 Hosmer .14 Reyes .03 Gutierres .02 Jacques
  14. Devers seems to have long stretches of being bad on D and also some short and long stretches of being pretty good on defense. I think he put together one full season of decent numbers. Let's hope this is his second one.
  15. Cots has these numbers for more "dead money:" 17 Sale 4.2 Turner 2.0 Joely .74 Hosmer .14 Reys .03 Gutierres .02 Jacques About $25M added onto IL money that is "dead." Alive money: .70 for Bernardino .74 for Grissom, Slaten, Weissert & Abreu .76 for Wong, Duran, Wink, Houck and Casas .93 Criswell
  16. Better suited for...
  17. Yes, largely, but he did pitch ib 27 games, last year w SEA. 2.83 ERA 3.32 FIP 1.22 WHIP 104 K/9 4.3 BB/9 needed work
  18. It's one game. You have often said he would be better in relief.
  19. Whitlock should come back, too. Hendriks ETA ia about August.
  20. Sounds right... per cots: Actual $22.5 Story $18.6 Yoshida $16.0 Giolito $3.5 Whitlock $2.0 Hendriks I hesitate to list guys like Casas, Mata and Murphy, since they are min wage.players replaced by min wage players. AAV: 23.3 Story 19.3 Giolito 18.0 Yoshida 5.0 Hendriks 4.7 Whitlock
  21. We keep hearing about how Rafaela leads the team in RBIs. Here are the current RBI leaders projected for the season (RBIs x 4:) 88 Rafaela 64 Duran 56 Abreu, Devers, Wong 52 O'Neill 44 McGuire
  22. While the Rays did win 5 in a row, not long ago, nobody can say we are playing a red hot team. They have lost 3 of their last 4.
  23. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought people expected them to be a lot better.
  24. We are 3 games behind KCR and MIN for the #2 and #3 WC slots, and we have a tougher schedule coming up. I know many think it is too early to be even thinking about these things,- but it's where we are at the 1/4 point. The 1/4 surprises, besides the Sox at 21-19: 25-17 KCR 20-20 DET 19-20 WSH Bad surprises: 15-25 HOU 16-24 STL
