  1. Plus Rodgers as very nice non 40 depth. I'd say TCC goes and we add a RP'er or RHB OF'er.
  2. With four FT OF'ers and KC, Romy and Masa capable of playing the OF, we don't need help there, right now.
  3. I think 2 RP'ers may come from whoever loses out of the 5 slot of the rotation: Oviedo, Crawford or Sandoval. Of course, that assumes we break camp with no injuries. I doubt we use Tolle or Early in the pen in April, but maybe Samaniego or Uberstine? We still have Kelly, Moran and Watson after the big 4: Chapman, Whitlock, Slaten & Weissert.
  4. We went from 22 pitchers and 18 everyday players on the 40 to 20-20.
  5. I think all three Milwaukee players are on the 40 man roster. We traded 3 on the 40, too, so no roster moves are needed, at this time.
  6. Maybe sooner than that as we've added Durbin, I K-F, Montasterio, Rodgers & Seigler... all with MLB experience. We lost Bregman and DHam. We have Eaton & Sogard on the 40, too.
  7. It's not as simple as just adding Durbin's projected 2.7 fWAR to the total projected WAR for the 2026 Sox, but if we do, our team fWAR would be 48.0. Adjust for this... Montasterio 0.3 DHam 0.5 & Harrison 0.2 We'd be near 47.6. 1. LAD 57.3 2, TOR 48.1 3. BOS 47.6 4. NYY 47.5 5. NYM 47.4 6. ATL 47.2 7. SEA 46.8 8. PHI 45.7
  8. If Durbin can get near a 3.0 WAR, we could be fine, this season. We now have a much improved infield depth. Of course Bregman >>> Durbin, but let's see how their numbers compare year 2-3-4-5.
  9. You act like that's a huge deal. Half the team are below average. Sure, I wish if was high. It could be higher. It should be higher. JH is NOT cheap, however. He just isn't. (BTW, if our revenues went up we are likely neat 19th.)
  10. Finding a way to trade Masa should be Brez's focus, now. Of course, we could just DFA him, but see if we can get a few $M in budget relief, if possible. That would really free up the 26 and 40 man roster for this: 26 (40 in minors) 60 Day IL: Houck & 15 Day IL: Casas/Sandoval SP: Crochat, Suarez, Gray, Bello, Oviedo/Crawford (Tolle/Early/Uberstine/Bennet) RP: Chapman, Whitlock, Slaten, Weissert, Crawford/Oviedo, Watson, Moran, Kelly (Samaniego) C: Narvaez, Wong (Gasper) 1B: Contreras 2B: Mayer, Romy 3B: Durbin, I K-F (Eaton) SS: Story, Sogard (Cheng) LF: Anthony (Campbell) CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu DH: Duran
  11. Take today's spotrac budget $259/5 and divide by $574 and it 45%, which is about 18th.
  12. Agreed. I had Harrison behind Crawford, Sandoval, Oviedo and also Tolle/Early. Drohan will likely be passed by Witherspoon, Phillips and Eyanson, soo. (Valera & Holobetz, too.) DHam is DHam.
  13. Wow, I did not realize he had a 2.6 fWAR and 2.8 bWAR. Matt Shaw: 1.5/3.1 Paredes: 2.5/2.3
  14. 1. We balanced the roster: pitching vs everyday players & Lefty-righty. Check! 2. We took the DHam option away from Cora. Check! 3. We now can platoon Mayer with Romy at 2B, if needed, of can platoon Romy at DH with Masa/Duran/Casas or rotate him back and forth. We still have the 4 OF'ers and Masa at DH issue, so if there is one more move to make, maybe it's Masa and cash/prospect for scraps.
  15. I musta traded DHam 20 times on BTV! I like this trade, due to the return we gave up and who we got. The comp pick is nice. I had hoped for more- someone more proven. Someone with more power. He did have a plus 5 DRS, +2 OAA and a plus dWAR (0.8) in his rookie year and 11 HRs in about 500 PAs, so maybe he can build up to 20 HR poser, someday. He had an .858 AAA OPS with 12 Hrs in 433 PAs. He's a RHB. BTV says we did well, as Durbin alone is worth 21.3 while we gave up a total of 11.4. Getting a SS and C for depth is okay. We are better after this trade, but I had my sights on Paredes.
  16. Those are some pretty scary numbers on Shaw. I hate the idea of trading for one year guys, but Hoerner would be a big boost to our 2026 chances. Of course Sandoval would not be the centerpiece to the return package, but he has one year left, too and his contract cost would help pay for Hoerner. I'm not sure who the Cubs want, but we have pitching. Maybe Crawford and Sandoval? (Bello and Sandoval?)
  17. Richards $10M/1 Kike $10M/1 Kluber $10M/1 Buehler $21M/1 All the two year deals given to injured pitchers were more like 1 year deals: Paxton, Hendiks & Sandoval. The Gio deal actually broke that mold, but then he got hurt year one, anyway.
  18. There has been less one year deals than with Bloom, and yes, many have sucked- even the biggest one- Buehler. I may have not mentioned it in the last post, but I have not ignored that trend. I've been highly critical of it. I did mention JH's aversion to large and long deals, which is highlighting a focus on 1-2 year deals. Some have not been "cheap," but you don't get the cream of the crop on 1-2 year deals.
  19. It was 23rd 1-2 years ago. Something like Total revenue/spending. I guess it has some meaning but why the most is beyond me. I doubt it's even 20, now
  20. How about Bello & Early for Shaw, Ben Brown (LHP) and Miguel Amaya (C) ?
  21. How about Valera, Sandoval (money balancer) & DHam for Paredes? Of course, HOU would have to really like Valera to get to a yes.
  22. Thanks for the correction. That does increase his value. (BTV has 5 yrs.)
  23. Maybe we're roughly 23rd or roughly middle of the pack. That point does have merit, but it's not the be-all-end-all point. Yes, I said I wish he would spend more, but that is far from agreeing that he is "cheap." He has gone "cheap" at various times in the 2+ decades under his watch, and the one from about 2019 to the Devers extension was the longest and most extreme, but "is" means now. He's been spending more and more, recently. To me, this winter is more about how we spent, and some of that is on JH- maybe the NTC, demands for deferments and the limit on large and long type deals, but Brez was the one who chose to spend way more on pitching than the big bat and 2B/3Bman most of us thought were part of our top 3 winter needs. Had we signed Bregman and not traded for Gray & signed I K-F, we'd still be under the third tax line. Our roster would be more balanced. Yes, we lost a lot of salary from 2025, including from the mid season trade of Devers, and when you add up all the extensions, re-signings and additions from this winter, the increase in spending seems like it's not enough. I don't disagree. I just wouldn''t call it "being cheap." We are seeing some major shifts in philosophies on spending, extensions and roster building. To me, most look good good or promising. Some are still troubling, but IMO, the team's trajectory is un the upswing. It has been since Brez took over. I think we both wish the upswing would be sharper and more targeted, but it has been and looks to be getting better. We really only have one major under-water contrat on the books, and that's on Bloom. It has 2 years to go. Nobody else looks grossly overpaid, and we have most of our key players locked up for 3-8 more years. That's not easy to do, and it's not common. It took planning and more good choices than bad, but you focus 99% on the bad.
  24. O CAB after 2004: DRS at SS: minus 23 OPS: .691
