No, we don't know his value. I have yet to hear one name of a player offered for him. I do think his value has gone down from last winter. Do you disagree? I suggested many Duran trades over the years, but have never been for handing him away, no matter what the offer. My guess is I valued him more highly than any GM, but maybe it was Brez who said no to some decent offers. We may never know.

I'm not sure why JH will agree to spend like a maniac, now, We were much more hopeful, last winter, and he wouldn't budge. BLowe and Jeffers should not cost us Arias, Tolle or any other high end prospect. Both are rentals.

That's the lamest counterpoint I've ever heard. You want JH to be 100% responsible. You want Brez to be 100% responsible. Math doesn't work like that.

I think Schwarber would have had to be blown away with an offer to leave PHI, bavoided theut I suppose one can still blame Brez for not doing so. I'm glad he "botched" the Bregman talks, and he's the Cubs problem now. I'm glad he avoided the Bichette bidding. He probably should have traded JH Garcia, Travieso and another prospect for a bat and not Oviedo. IMO, Brez did better at winter signings than any realistic plan any of us came up with, Nobody here, said Contreras, BLowe, Suarez & Gray. No body said anything better that JH would have paid for. I suppose he could have traded Arias & Witherspoon, We still don't know what anyone offered for Duran, if anything, so it's hard for me to lay the blame on Brez, He didn't sign Story and Yoshida.

He was given a ton of money to spend, not even counting the extensions to the kids. You'd have been happy had he also signed Breg or Bichette, when both would not have helped much.

He does seem to enjoy getting under people's skin, but he had his mind made up on Ceddanne long before those two ABs. They just confirmed there was and would not be any improvements.

We have .680 bats. He's .734 since 2024 (1335 PAs) He's not the big bat we need. His 32 HRs in 1335 is about 15 over a full season. Career, he's about 22 HRs per 650. He's expensive and can opt out. BIG NOPE. N ope on Devin W, too.

I never wanted Bichette, last winter: I want him even less, now. If the Mets paid half his salary, I'd still say no. Bello & Campbell's money would cancel out a big chunk of his deal. Bichette gets $42M x 2 as player options in 2027 & 2028, so we'd actually save money over the long term. I'd do that 2 for 1 trade.

That trade made too much sense for me to not happen, but obviously HOU saw the Duran wiring on the wall. When I look at Brez's moves and how he has transformed the pitching pipeline, I have to think he wasn't alone in thinking the foundation he was handed and tweaked was just not all that good. Most of us, even Fred, expected more wins in 2026 than 2025, yet we stand in judgement over Brez with many saying he should be fired, he sucks or worse. I guess we'd be fore firing ourselves, too, because what almost all of us wanted have sucked worse than Contreras, Suarez and Gray. Remember the long threads on Gray not being a #2? Hell, he's been a #1, so far! Contreras was downplayed due to his age, but he's doing better than every available bat except Schwarber. Choosing a pitcher (Suarez) over a big bat was and still is a legit debate, but who can argue that adding Suarez was a bad signing, at least in isolation? To me, in hindsight, had we known we'd be adding Gray and Suarez, we would and should not have traded for Oviedo. I'm not pretending that package would land us a big bat, but we might have added to it and gotten one. BTW, HOU still needs an OF'er, but I'm pretty sure it's still not Duran.

It's BLowe and Jeffers as the most obtainable and helpful two we can hope for. Adames and BLowe could maybe be done, but I'm not sure I want to give up a lot for a 31 y/o SS owed $28M x 5.

Ceddanne is a rarity. I can understand how someone could have serious doubts about his chances at improving. That being said, his improvement was obvious and constant, despite the slumps. He's admitted he was wrong- something some posters have never come close to doing.

I'm moving from ESL to SpEd, next year. I've been in hundreds of ARDs over the past few years- dually served students.

Adames turns 31 in SEPT. He had a 111 OPS+ from age 25-28. It's been 107 the last 2 seasons, which is not bad. 30 HRs per 162 would be very helpful. I don't know much about his defense, but he's been about a 0 dWAR over the past 3 seasons combined. I'd like to get him, but $28M x 5 years from ages 31 to 35 is not near the top of my wish list. I agree on WSH not trading CJ. I'm thinking BLowe plus Jeffers is reasonable.

B-R gives you all you need to know. Hunter Goodman turns 27 in October, so he is in peak prime. He hit .843 last year and is at .856, this year. In his career, he has caught 183 games, DH'd in 76, played RF in 37 and 1B in 12. (LF in 7) Career: .815 at Coors and .777 away. This year, he is at .990 AWAY! (.702 at Coors) In 2025, he was over .800 H & A. ,841 v L and .779 v R He has 43 HRs in the last 365 days. COL hardly ever trades its best players.

While true, I have to think someone offered us more than what he's worth, now. That is how GM are scored- fairly or unfairly.

If they think Anthony will return, we won't get a DH, but yes, I suggested O'Hearn or Horwitz and maybe Jeffers/Goodman could DH when not catching. Abrams, BLowe & Jeffers would be great, but getting one might be all any of us can hope for. BLowe & O'Hearn from PIT? Jeffers & a middle IF'er from MIN? BLowe from PIT & Jeffers from MN is maybe the very best we might do.

Nice. Cheng has a better fWAR (-0.1) than Story and Mayer. Eaton is at +0.2 in just 25 PAs. That's over 5.0 in 650 PAs. How about IKF at 1.1 having the same fWAR as Correa and Volpe? He's better than Bichette (0.9) Lindor & JP Crawford (0.7) Seager (0.6) and of course DHam at 0.3 (with 90 more PAs) T Turner is at 0.2 and Willy Adams at 0.0. In education, the word "exceptional" is often substituted for "special needs," but it is also used for GT (gifted & talented.) There are some SpEd students that are gifted & talented in some areas-- like The Rainman.
