  1. Knowing the way season's go, if he was doing well for us, he'd have gotten a chance to start, but I still agree. it doesn't matter if he does well, as long as Durbin works out for us.
  2. He hasnt been over 5 since 2019.
  3. They did sound like they weren't sure about where Durbin would play most.
  4. He does have experience there.
  5. Now that is a projection that rings true! 🤣
  6. How about Mayer, Crawford, Sandoval & Cespedes for K Marte?
  7. By all the naysayers? I think not.
  8. Pirates sign Ozuna for $10.5M/1 with $1.5M buyout on $16M year two. Essentially $12M/1 or $26.5M/2. Some mentioned him as the possible big RHB we need toDH, but his numbers really dropped off, last year at age 34. The Masa problem kept us from even talking about him.
  9. With all the recent additions, the updates on the AAA roster have changed. Here is sps.com's new projected AAA roster: C: Thaiss, Delay, Seigler 1B: Hickey, Lloyd 2B: Rodgers, Sogard (DH) 3B: Romero, Capra SS: Cheng, McDonough LF: Campbell CF: B Ward RF: Eato, Frazier SP: Early, Tolle, Uberstine, Sikkema, Gamboa (AA: Bennett) RP: (Kelly) Samaniego Harriss, Berrios, Song, Sweet, Martinez, T Guerrero, Olds, K Keller, Nittoli
  10. Interesting rankings, especially Cespedes 9th. I'd put him and Bleis near 30th, if not lower, but all these guys are pretty fungible.
  11. That's for sure. What will happen if Durbin out OPS Bregman, Nad Contreras out OPS Alonso?
  12. It makes up for the 2nd round pick we lost signing Bregman.
  13. Gotta count the side pieces, too, if they amount to anything, but yes, this was the basis of the trade. I love the comp pick we got, too, and we've had great success with those picks, even if they are not our highest pick. 2025: Phillips (2nd pick Priester trade) & Godbout (3rd pick...Pivetta) 2023: K Campbell (our 5th pick... Bogey) 2022: Anthony (our 3rd pick... ERod)
  14. How about revisiting the KMarte talks: Mayer, Bello & Sandoval for KMarte (The AAV is almost even.) Mayer & Early is also accepted on BTV, but the added AAV would put the Sox over line 3.
  15. Well said. There will always be a beef, if we keep trying to replace Devers' big bat with players like Contreras, though, but that's a separate issue. This looks like a very good trade, as of now. Now, maybe Harrison pulls a Priester on us, and Durbin becomes the next Grissom, but we'll see.
  16. Let's hope not. It's nice we have 40 infielders on our 40! Just in case!
  17. 9 years at $16.25M. Not all "suspects" are created equal.
  18. I would not call the Bregman heavily deferred contract a failed 1 year contract as we likely miss the playoffs without him. The worst Brez only FA signings: $21M/1 Buehler $10M/2 Hendriks _________________ Meh signings: $38.5M/2 Giolito ___________________ TBD: Sandoval, Suarez, Kiner-Falefa ___________________ Best FA signings: $11M/1 Chapman $2.3M/1 Wilson _______________________________________ Extensions: Crochet, Chapman, Anthony, Rafaela, Bello, Campbell _____________________________________ Worst Trades: Devers for scraps Sale for Grissom The deadline deals in '24 for Garcia & Sims Scraps for DMay TBD: Priester for Holobetz plus (Yorke for Priester) several players for Sonny Gray same for Willson Contreras Ziehl for Sandlin & Hicks (Schreiber for Sandlin) and many minor trades this winter. Fajardo for Bosser (Fajardo later traded) Moran for Gasper Best: Several prospects for Crochet Harrison plus for Durbin Ammons for Slaten 2 pitchers for O'Neill Dugo for Weissert & Fitts Jordan for Matz
  19. Now, the longer term deals and control years: 8 years + option Anthony 7 years + 2 option years Campbell 6 years Crochet & Rafaela 5 years Suarez 4 years + option Bello Pre-arb (4+ years) : 19 players on the 40!!! Tolle, Anthony, Abreu, Narvaez, Durbin, Slaten, Wiessert, Sogard, Kelly, Moran, Watson, Samaniego, Monasterio, Seigler, Bennett, Eaton, Uberstine, Gasper, Cheng 25 players with 4+ years of control!
  20. I think I K-F offers us a fine utility player that is a big plus on defense at 3B, SS and 2B. Is that worth $6M? Maybe not, but we have to say it or else JH is not a cheapster.
  21. He's pre-arb, so probably the minimum, which is like $820K.
  22. There was a tremendous amount of roster turnover- beyond the filling of vacated FA roster slots. Not many major players were traded, but a ton of pitchers were swapped out and a ton of infielders were added.
  23. Years of control: 1: Gray (mutual option) & Sandoval 2: Chapman (team option) & Oviedo, Romy, Houck, Masa 3: Contreras, Story & Whitlock (team options) Duran, Crawford, Casas Wong, Kelly All the rest are 4+ seasons
