Players are expected to play where the team thinks they'd best help. Agreeing with the idea does not come into play. I'm a big union guy and was an officer in a union for several years. I fought for worker's rights many times, but when a worker refuses to do his job, there is no defense.

I think LF is an option, but DHs are easier to find. (I'd be okay with Yoshida in LF v RHPs to end the season.) It's who plays LF vs LHPs that is in question. An all-around LF rental might be a good idea.

It's actually a stunning feat. Yes, for the reason you gave, but also for all the prospect trades Brez has made. While some, like Perales for Bennett, were prospect for prospect, many others were not. Some were pitchers for everyday players, meant to balance the roster- like the Contreras and Durbin trades, but some were also for pitching like the Gray and Oviedo trades. The "overpay" at deadlines is absurd. We see how GMs get roasted for winer "overpays" like Harrison, Drohan & DHam for Durbin, Seigler & Monasterio. (That was not meant as an overpay, as winter deals are designed to be "even." although prospects for controlled stars can be viewed as overpays. This trade was not that, as Durbin was not a star.) My point is that usually the winter is time to make deals for controllable players and the deadline is mostly rentals, overpaid players or 1.5 year guys who make decent money (like Chapman.) This is another reason I'm still leaning sell. We can and should get more value for Gray and maybe Chapman than they are worth- just not likely immediate 2026 value.

If the Sox become buyers, I'm hoping MIN will trade Jeffers and PIT will trade BLowe. I'm not sure what they will cost, but it shouldn't be Early, Arias or Eyanson.

And Contreras for no Alonso. Durbin for no Bregman. Gray and Suarez for no Houck, Oviedo and Crawford.

Cespedes, Holobetz, Romero or Uberstine, ideally. More likely Phillips, Delzine or Soto.

The draft is more everyday player centered and had some more HS picks, too (3 in top 10.) Maybe #18 Offing will not sign, unless we lose out on someone else. 4. Still stuck with big pitchers for the most part. 5. They think #9 Shelar ("power/speed combo") and #10 LaFavor might get $1M bonuses. 6. On the college arms, the Sox are very high on Davenport as in hearing they think he's "going to be a dude." Adetuyi has some of the best spin rates in the draft. 7. They see Jacob Webster as a sticking at SS and not being 2-way. 8. Who might be ranked top 30? Maybe 4-5 players and another 2-3 30-60. Top 30: Shelar, LaFavor, Schaffner & Mataczynski with Lanman borderline. Hull, Davenport and Adetuyi might be borderlinish. Basically, they seemed kinda high on the draft

BTW, who is the guy in charge at PIT? The team that got two of the biggest off season steals: O'Hearn & BLowe? Who is the guy in charge of the Cardinals who traded away Gray, Contreras, Arenado & Donovan and are 5 games over .500?

Devers is not even top one-third in OPS among 149 qualifying players. He's 54th. He may turn it around. He's still young enough to have a couple big years and maybe a couple more decent ones, but for a team that pinches pennies, I'm glad we are rid of that contract and the headache.

Apparently Sox scouts loved this guys since grade school. Okay, I jest, but word was they wanted him for years. Maybe it's not such a bad thing moving away from people scouts and towards data analysis, if that's the best we can do with real scouts. The worst part was we bid against nobody and could have likely had him at half the cost or better.
