  1. I get it: you are saying contradictory things, and not just once. You literally just wrote this... Lets try it a different way: I don't really care if the Orioles make the playoffs or if they signed Alonso. I'm taking a break from responding to anything you post, since is an amorphous blob of words.
  2. Your major point is where we rank in revenue vs spending. That means other teams matter- their revenue and their spending. Whether the O's make the playoffs are not is unrelated, but you did project them ahead of the Sox, when you predicted us to finish in 4th place, which is yet another position based on other teams mattering. This is the "logic" that is not logic. It's not about me not understanding. I fully understand all of your contradictions to the letter. The goalposts have been moved so often, they've added wheels to them.
  3. Maybe because Priester had such a good year, the guy we got back must be good? I have Holobetz ahead of him, anyway.
  4. Fred will choose Cash, then. Whatever it takes to make JH look worse. Later, when these guys are paid more than their AAV, he'll switch to AAV. I like to use AAV, and not to make JH look good. I actually agree that he should spend more, but because it represents the total money per year given out.
  5. It kinda reminds me of how basketball is ruined by everyone standing around waiting to shoot a 3.
  6. Confusing to you, maybe. Posters have been complaining about the return we got for Betts for years. Hell, someone just said we should dump Wong, so we lose all remnants of that trade and can move on. Some may or may not count who we got for Verdugo in trade as something carried over from the Betts trade, as Fitts was not the only player traded for Gray. Is Fitts' part of the Gray trade a partial "gift that keeps on giving?" It might depend on how well Gray does in 2026, and even then how much of his success do we attribute to Fitts? 🙃
  7. Depends on what looks better for Fred.
  8. If we're not top 10, JH needs to run out of town. Once we get to #9, the goalposts will be moved to top 5.
  9. Verdugo signs minor league deal w SDP. Man, he fell fast. We got Weissert & Fitts for him, and Fitts was part of the Sonny Gray deal. Man, that Betts trade just keeps giving and giving! 🙃
  10. Yup. If he looks sharp, this season, that may change. (We may add him to the 40 before then, if he does.)
  11. That was the equation: 5+ years of hope (Mayer) vs 2-3 years of a more sure bet solution (Paredes or KMarte).
  12. Looks that way. Pitchers rarely just suddenly gain control at his age.
  13. I really wanted one of those two. I like Durbin, and I think IKF was a nice but expensive utility addition, but K Marte or Paredes would have made a huge difference.
  14. I'm about done even trying to debate this. It's endless walk backs, reframing and rehashing.
  15. Maybe a super long shot, but yes, true. It wasnt fair to Song.
  16. Yes, but it remains one of our least good depth position. Casas sucks at 1B, too.
  17. But DHern has one of MLB history's highest K/9 rate. MLB History (80+ IP) K/9 14.58 Chapman 14.56 Hader 14.54 E Diaz 14.45 Betances 14.06 D Williams 14.04 Kimbrell 14,03 DHern
  18. Then what is the 23rd ranking all about? Rankings are all about our place among the other 29 teams.
  19. I agree, but I don't call someone a liar, unless I know they are one. IMO, I think JH actually thinks he is doing a lot to improve the team. I think the 2021 season fooled him into thinking we could win without spending a ton. I'm not sure of this, but there is enough doubt to not make bold statements about someone. Once it became apparent we could not win without spending, and I think we all agree it took to long to realize that, JH started spending bigly, again. We can disagree on weather it's been enough or not, and I'd agree it should have been more, but I see more dishonesty in saying JH doesn't spend than in JH saying he's making us competitive. I've called Fred out numerous times on his not spending statement, but he knowingly kept saying a falsehood over and over again. Who is being dishonest, here?
  20. It's not obvious, as the team record and outlook has greatly improved- mistakes and all. It seems to me, nothing can ever satisfy you. JH spent enough to get the guys you wanted, but it doesn't change anything for you. Brez changed the whole Sox system in about 2 years, and he has made the Sox a much better team. No GM is perfect, but that is something you think is possible.
  21. The truth was around long before TV was even invented and the shrinkage factor, too.
