  1. Yes, I said "can" not "will" or even "should."
  2. Yes, but Masa, KC & Casas look like DH only types. Duran is okay on D- maybe, but he's the DH.
  3. Hardly ever, but our history has been we only win rings when we use 5-6 pitchers for a huge chunk of all games started, anyway. I count 9: 5: Crochet, Suarez, Gray, Bello & Oviedo 4: Crawford, Sandoval, Tolle & Early Is Uberstine less thought of than Newcomb & Dobbins were last March? (Also, I'm talking LF & DH depth is a luxury we should have traded for strengthening other higher need areas.)
  4. LF or DH is probably his best parking space. Too bad we have logjams at both slots, right now, and some player overlap in both slots: Duran, Masa, KC...
  5. Agreed. Depth is a nice thing, but when you have some clearly weak areas, it's a luxury misplaced.
  6. I'm super high on Jo Garcia, but Bleis and Cespedes are not even in my top 30.
  7. It was about double the PAs from the Dalbec and Middlebrook teases. I know others hate seeing him take the third strike so much, but I love his approach. He's got a good eye, and he rarely takes a strike right down the middle. I'm cautiously optimistic.
  8. I agree. I think if he's healthy he can easily hit over .800 and maybe even go .850+ with 30+ HRs.
  9. Tiny sample size, last year. .766>.856>.800 before .2025 can be viewed as a down trend, but maybe not.
  10. .808 Anthony .789 Contreras .777 Abreu .774 Casas .767 Duran .760 Yoshida .745 Romy .731 Rafaela .729 Durbin .715 Story .715 Campbell .703 Mayer .686 Narvaez .684 Wong .682 Monasterio .632 IKF
  11. He's making $18M this year and next. If he get's DFA'd and picked up, and he likely would be, he'd be making $18M this year and next. The Sox pay about $17.2M a year and the new team $800K a year. To me, it makes sense to see if someone will trade a bag of used balls for him + $14M a year. They pay $4M a year, and that comes off our tax line. Then, JH can go out and spend like crazy at the deadline! LOL
  12. When he's DFA'd one team claims him based on their slot in picking order. It's not a bidding war.
  13. I still think maybe a Hicks type of deal, where we add on a decent prospect might get a richer team to take on some of Masa's contract. I doubt anyone pays near half. Another way might be to trade him for an equal sunken contract, but a guy who plays some where other than DH.
  14. The team claiming him would pay the min salary, and BOS would pay the rest.
  15. I meant someone might take Masa from us, with us paying all but $4-6M a year. (maybe $3M)
  16. I still have a lot of confidence in Casas as a batter.
  17. There was no bell curve with Dugo, once he got to Boston. OPS+ 123 '20 107 '21 102 '22 100 '23 to NYY: 84 '24 to ATL: 67 '25
  18. I think someone might pay him $4-6M x 2 years. Maybe, if someone gets hurt, this spring, Brez will get a call. I would not cut Masa, until we know the status of Casas, Contreras, and our 4 OF'ers. We could ask if he'd take a 2-4 week stint in the minors, but if he says no, we might decide to just pull the plug.
  19. Line-up... 1. KC CF 2. Story SS 3. Mayer 2B 4. Durbin 3B 5. IKF 1B 6. Hickey DH 7. Wong C 8. Ward RF 9. Castro LF
  20. I'm not sure Casas deserves the "mediocre" label. He may very well end up there, but an .800 career OPS over a player's first 952 PAs is not really mediocre. His defense sucks, so that brings him down a peg, and he might be best viewed as a DH only/emergency 1Bman. He hits about 31 HRs per 650 PAs. He has a career .348 OBP, which would put him in the top 2-3 on this current team. He may have just one more chance to prove himself, and where he plays might depend on an injury to an OF'er (He'd DH) or 1B (He'd pretend to play 1B.) I don't see him as another Dalbec type, since he gets on base, a lot.
  21. No game today, but the WBC begins. We play the Yanks, tomorrow and should see Crochet vs Gil.
