  1. Lowe has the power boost (52 HRs in his last 860 ABs) we need, but he does suck vs LHPs. His splits help being the price down. Jeffers had a 113 OPS+ from '23-'25. This may be an outlier, but he's pretty good at his "norm." He kills lefties and his first half .760 and second half .740 career splits are not worrisome. For those who believe in clutch: he hits better with RISP and men on base than without. He's also .797 high leverage in his career. I'm looking for players that will not force an "all in" type trade. They will have flaws that bring the price down.
  2. If Story comes back, maybe he can play 2B with Seigler. We have to get a SS that forces Tracy to make that move. A Monasterio-Cheng platoon is far away from that.
  3. That pretty much sums it up, and since we cannot be sold on Seigler being the 2B solution, we could add a SS with the idea that maybe they slide to 2B eventually.
  4. I think we will not go "all in," and maybe i'm underestimating the cost of these two, but I'd try hard for... RHB Jeffers C/DH LHB BLowe 2B
  5. Of course it can change. Players are not always doomed to repeat the same injuries. Look at Sale: he has a new one every year.
  6. We aren't going to get much for Duran, Bello, KC, Romero types. Thinks lats year, when everybody complained about not doing enough (My self included.) Teams insisted on Tolloe or Early. Anthony or Mayer, too, but not many here wanted any of those 4 traded. I think AZ wanted Early for a 2 month rental in Merrill Kelly. To get a really meaningful add, think Early, Arias or Eyanson.
  7. I said "might." I said "I'm leaning sell" and am "climbing the fence." My guess is we go 14-7, I'll be for buying, but "WE MIGHT Need TOO MUCH to go ALL IN." You want us to go all in? Like trade Arias, Eyanson, Witherspoon and maybe even Early?
  8. I just arrived in Maine (Sebago Lake.) Hope to catch a Sea Dogs game.
  9. I WOULD prefer we get a guy we know will play SS for 3+ years. I really like Arias, and if he shows he can make it, we can deal with that issue then... or... he he he... just move one to 2B. We have had a major need at 2B for most of the last decade, We need a big RHB or a couple good ones. We can wait on C until the winter, but I think Jeffers would be a nice rental. Just get 2 for 2 of these slots: C/DH SS DL/LF 2B Normally, a catcher will not be cheaper than these other slots, but we gotta get what we can get.
  10. Agreed. I'm hoping maybe he can do better than 95 wRC+, but I'd bet on the under. (Career going forward.)
  11. Agreed, and the next 3 weeks might not even be enough to judge, but we might know more, especially if he declines.
  12. Yes, I said a year off. I also mentioned that it's not really just a year off in terms of seasons, which is a valid point to make. 9 years was really like 6.5 to 7 seasons, which is worth pointing out, right?
  13. I've heard Clay Holmes. Maybe we go huge and get Holmes with Lindor. Someone suggested Bello, KC, Witherspoon, Gonzales & Godbout for just Lindorr.
  14. I'm not sure every GM discounts KC's value like some here. I do think SFG are looking to save money. Maybe we'd have to add Phillips or Gonzales to the deal, but I agree- they pick up the phone.
  15. I hesitate to say, "He can be moved to 2B," because we really need a SS first and foremost. Romy-Siegler-Mayer are okay at 2B. I'd like to look Catcher first, but SS is right there. DH/LF or 2B are also slots we could boost our offense with an add-on.
  16. I'd rather have any tier D instead of Bichette, even if the money was the same. I don't get all the Bichette fawning.
  17. Certainly the SSS is in play, especially a players first few in his career after a short first season. He just looks good.
  18. Those injuries don't mean it's the start of a pattern of injuries or only swinging bat related ones. The move to Ft Myers is concerning.
  19. KC gets paid way less than Adames, so I'm not sure he's worried about that money. I do think Posey has to think KC can be good to make this deal. It's not about Story.
  20. Maybe even better than Holt, but he could be much worse, too. It's 8 years not 9. There was the missed Covid season and a couple short seasons early on. He just turned 27, so he's entering prime. He had a decent 2024 season at AA and even better at AAA in 2025. He's improved at the last few seasons. so maybe this is no fluke.
  21. DH might keep Buxton healthier, but Anthony's health is a concern, too.
  22. We can maybe get Pena and not think about forcing Duran on them. I don't know if they like Mayer, but they would need an infielder. I'm not sure they are in sell mode.
  23. I would not take Joe Ryan, because we'd need to give Early or Tolle just for that piece. We don't need Buxton, but Anthony can DH, when he returns. I'd give Mayer, Witherspoon & Phillips for Buxton & Jeffers. If you want Ryan too, you (not me) would have to offer Arias or Early. Maybe Eyanson & Valera, instead.
  24. It's a shame he's gone, but it's for the best- for him and the team. There seemed to be a consensus that the organization wanted Devers to play 1B. Cora never said he was okay with the idea, but he sure talked the consensus talk and talked about continuing "talks" on the idea. https://www.google.com/search?q=red+sox+ask+devers+to+play+1B+cora&sca_esv=f579c735c267b347&rlz=1C1GCEB_enUS1165US1165&sxsrf=APpeQnvrUMVgYwXtRWRN5aOVH0RyUAHYeQ%3A1784157287620&ei=ZxRYau62JdC5qtsPr8zmkQo&biw=1280&bih=551&ved=0ahUKEwiuhujq59WVAxXQnGoFHS-mOaIQ4dUDCBI&uact=5&oq=red+sox+ask+devers+to+play+1B+cora&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiInJlZCBzb3ggYXNrIGRldmVycyB0byBwbGF5IDFCIGNvcmEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigATIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigAUjZGFDlBli7E3ABeAGQAQCYAW-gAYgEqgEDMS40uAEDyAEA-AEBmAIGoAKoBMICChAAGEcY1gQYsAPCAgUQIRirApgDAIgGAZAGA5IHAzIuNKAHpRuyBwMxLjS4B6UEwgcFMC40LjLIBxCACAE&sclient=gws-wiz-serp#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:fd368126-3735-43d2-8c9b-3bef745332d0_f7d00321,vid:yiwCTLf0a9M,st:4
  25. Word is the Yanks are looking at trading for Mason Miller and a Catcher (Jeffers or Goodman.) The Cubs, Braves and Rays are interested in Skubal. (Yes, the Rays.) When you think of who the Sox need to get better, think about getting better than these two teams with their new additions.
