    This might blow some minds: AUGUST top Sox OPS: 1.671 Gasper (was demoted and returned) 1.556 Anthony (fresh off the IL) 1.389 Rogers (DFA'd) 1.284 Jones (only earned 19 ABs) 1.250 Story (Yes, the one from Story Land) .971 Abreu (Okay, someone we'd expect might be top 6.) .892 Yoshida (on IL) .801 Sogard (like the 5th string 2B/SS) .789 Duran (like the guy many wanted DFA'd) .772 Seigler (like the guy just demoted) .726 Durbin (like the guy batting .5 something in May.) No Willson, Rafaela, Rut or Mono in top 10!

    I'm a huge Romy fan. I was a little surprised they demoted him that quickly, but they must have felt he needed more time. I'd promote Romy over KC for 2 reasons. He's more proven, and with Anthony on the 26, KC can't find a position. I guess I think just considering KC as a ML option hits a nerve. Yes, he still has issues, and the K issue is front and center, but .900+ is hard to say he's been really 4 times. The 4 really's is what I couldnt let go- not that he's better than Romy or Gasper.

    I just said KC should be considered not picked over Romy.

    I said from the start I'm not sure he deserves a call-up, but his .900+ OPS in over 5 weeks is better than Romy's.

    It's not even 1 "really" bad, except for the Ks. The time frame you call 3 really bads from 7/25 to 8/30 he has a .909 OPS. I'll take 37Ks with a .900 OPS. BTW, he has a .304 BA with 3 HRs and 9 doubles from 7/25 to 8/30 with 27 Ks in 92 ABs and 111 PAs.

    Mead is not "today" and probably is done for the year. I was talking 2027. With a healthy Mead and Anthony and other top bats not out, we'll be fine, but counting on 100% health for the best bats is not a sound strategy. I'd like to see us add another bat, but our bench does look pretty solid. It's not going to be super urgent- like replacing Gray, Early and Sandoval's innings. Healthy 9 1. Anthony DH 2. Mead 2B 3. Abreu RF 4. Contreras 1B 5. Rutschman C 6. Rafaela CF 7. Durbin 3B 8. Duran LF 9.     That's assuming Abreu and Willson don't get hurt and "replaced." Or Ceddanne & Durbin, who would hurt the O and D.

    That begs the question, "What is proof?" I'm not saying this is enough, but the kid was Minor League Player of the Year in 2024, and then this recently.... 5-15 w 2 HRs and 2B in last 4 games .939 since July 1st .840 August We dont really need a DH or RF'er, but if Anthony DHs, he could play LF (or Anthony in LF and KC DH.) I'm not saying I'd call him up tomorrow, but he has decent numbers, recently. What will it take? .900+ for a year?

    People talk Gasper and IDK, but yes, someone like Romy has a case, too. How about Campbell? Just not enough room at some bottle neck slots. Maybe too much quantity and not enough quality, but nobody can say Brez has not traded enough. He must be breaking records. DD made his share and won: Haywood Sullivan dismantled a dream team and lost.

    Suarez probably needs a skipped start. (His max is 157 IP, and he's at 123.) I heard Gray might skip one.

    Crochet, Houck, Crawford & Oviedo have yet to start throwing in rehab games. By the time any get ready for rehab and go through it, how ready can any be? Count on ZERO. (Slaten, too.)

    He did do a lot- I MEAN A LOT- this past winter, and this was after a winning season where we basically lost Gio and Bregman over the winter. I coulda-shoulda done more, but I'm not sure what. Trade Early in January not July? Trade even more prospects than he did for Ruta after the nice season Narvaez had? Maybe I cut more slack than some/many others do. I thought he did enough to significantly improve on an already good team. Every team had and has holes. Not many team can lose their ace, their 2024 ace, their 2024 IP leader plus their 4-5 got the SP'er yips. We lost Anthony and tried Mead as a boost- then poof. Now, RUT is poofing. I see it as Durbin + Suarez over Bregman.

    I think the Sept 1st call-up rule supersedes the 10 day rule.

    Wong often has reverse splits, but yes, Gasper should not bat v LHPs. With Anthony on board, we won't DH. He's better vs RHPs than Duran, but playing Anthony in LF seems too scary to try. With Anthony in LF v RHPs, Gasper could DH v L. That pretty much benches Duran FT.

    You do know we will never have 100% health. Mead & Anthony return- maybe 1-2 other top batters go out. With pitching, it's even more probable.

    Yes. Thinking of next year does not man we are giving up on 2026. If anyone thinks Brez is only thinking of 2026, the fact that Rut, Miller, White and Mead are all under control for more than 2026. There were no rental trades.
